I would love:

  1. a pair of dungarees
  2. a baby blue velour tracksuit

but I feel too contrained by society and my arse (which is now decending down the back of my legs).

How about you?

I was tempted to buy dungarees yesterday but stopped myself Grin

pinkisthenewpink · 17/04/2015 19:04

High heels. I do buy them but just never can wear them as I'm either going to be walking too far and they hurt too much or I just don't need anything that dressy.

And khaki tencel type joggers. I've tried them on but I am not gazelle like in proportions at all so it just looks awful.

Not clothes but....red lipstick. It suits my colourings but I always feel like I'm wearing a huge sign saying 'look at me and what am effort I've made' which is a bit cringeable!

noddyholder · 17/04/2015 19:05

I can't do red lipstick either despite LOVING it on everyone else!

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 17/04/2015 19:05

Jeans but have never found a pair I feel comfortable in. I've been every size from an 8 to a 26 and nothing has ever felt right. Currently hovering around a 12. I've worn leather look leggings on a night out and felt fab but still can't get my head around jeans.

CornwallsFinest · 17/04/2015 19:17

sleepwhenidie elsiesattic.co.uk/product-category/clothing/skirts/petticoats-and-tutus/

They are custom made at £45 each which I don't think is too bad. But I would never get the chance to wear one.

Scandip I really am tempted to!

Cocolepew · 17/04/2015 19:22

I really want onefof those skirts

sleepwhenidie · 17/04/2015 19:24

Flowers cornwall, thank you.

CornwallsFinest · 17/04/2015 19:43

I'm so glad I'm not alone! I always thought I was odd wanting, effectively, a grown up tutu Grin I've never seen anyone wearing one IRL but if I ever do, I'm straight to ordering from that website.

weddingbelle1005 · 17/04/2015 19:54

Aaaah.....so many items.......where to start?

Pencil skirts
Nipped in waist dresses
ALL hats!

I also find myself strangely unable to ever wear sunglasses! I just feel ridiculous and uncomfortable I them even though I think they often look chic and glamorous on others!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 17/04/2015 20:02

I have a selection of 50s swing dresses, with proper circle skirts, and the full petticoat to go under, and wear them to most weddings I go to. They are my favouritest dresses ever.
Essentially a tutu, but with a dress over...
Vivienne of Holloway - total nirvana.

MrsPear · 17/04/2015 20:49

Shorts - my knees are knobbly and my thighs are thunderous ...

But on a whole i would just like to be more feminine - think the 30s - 50s ideal. But really what would you think if someone rocked up on the school run in this [[http://www.queenofholloway.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=74&products_id=744 dress]] heels and make up?! It just doesn't fit into today's outlook. I think i was born in the wrong era for clothes ...

cerealqueen · 17/04/2015 21:04

cornwall I love that site! So many nice things!!

I too would love a tulle skirt. DD2 who is 3 has one and I'd wear mine with a denim jacket....I'm three years off 50!!

HicDraconis · 17/04/2015 21:13

I'd love to revamp my wardrobe to full on steampunk. Not sure whether rural NZ is the place for it (or whether I could even find shops to sell it!). Would love love love to wear proper corsets - brocade, lace-up, outerwear type ones. No idea where to find them though.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/04/2015 21:16

ooh yes, red lipstick (makes me look like a drag queen or a hooker Sad )

Libitina · 18/04/2015 14:09

I'd ask you where you bought it from, I love it. I think I too was born n the wrong era. I'd love to be a teen in the 50's.

Justtheonemore · 18/04/2015 14:17

Desperate to try sky scraper heels (courts or platforms would be perfect) and socks.
Alas, there's absolutely no way I could pull that look off Sad

Flyinggeese21 · 18/04/2015 15:41

Mrs Pear that dress is lovely and nothing wrong with it for either daytime or evening. I'd be tempted to just go for it!

Skinheadmermaid · 18/04/2015 15:46

Leather look leggings. I freaking love them. Sadly i'm pear shaped and two sizes larger on my bottom half then my top, with saddle bags and mighty thighs.
I'd look like a black pudding. Sad
Oh and denim shorts. Because of the previous reasons.
I've lost lots of weight as well, this is just my shape. And I have loose skin and flab and very bad cellulite so even being slimmer I can't wear them.
-cries and plays small violin-

Mousefinkle · 18/04/2015 16:36

When I was younger I always wanted to be able to pull white skinny jeans off, alas I have 'Beyoncé thighs' so it just doesn't work. I also always wanted to pull the casual maxi dress look off and loose fitting shift dresses but they don't flatter an hourglass figure AT ALL, just looked like I had a sack on.

I have no desire to wear any of those now though Grin. I've just lost a lot of weight and gone from a size 20 to 10 in a year so I can now pull off the things I could only dream of wearing when I was fat. Skinny jeans, tight tops, cami tops, shorts, Chelsea boots, the hair tied up in a messy bun look... It's so liberating! I used to cover as much skin up as possible back then even when it was hot outside, I'm excited to let it all hang out this summer Grin.

That's great Mousefinkle!

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 18/04/2015 17:57

A poncho

richthegreatcornholio · 18/04/2015 18:27

A mankini and a pair of cowboy boots (though not at the same time). I don't think folks would enjoy the sight of my balls to be honest.

OstentatiousBreastfeeder · 18/04/2015 18:30

This dress, basically.

to ask what item of clothing you'd love to own and wear but can't bring yourself to?
DamselNotInHerDress · 18/04/2015 19:23

I have seen 2 jumpsuits recently that I was desperate for. Until I realised I'd look foolish in them!

Also, would love a maxi dress on holiday but I hate open toed shoes/sandals/flip flops and can't think one would look good with other footwear.

And now, thanks to this thread, I really want a tutu skirt! I'm going to ascot this year, I can definitely see myself wearing one there.

I'm 30, 5'8" and a size 12 - will I look ridiculous? Like am overgrown child lost en route to a dressing up party? Sad

Dungarees get the thumbs down from me though!
