I would love:

  1. a pair of dungarees
  2. a baby blue velour tracksuit

but I feel too contrained by society and my arse (which is now decending down the back of my legs).

How about you?

Fortunately I got my dungaree wearing out of my system good and proper as a teenager in the 1980s Grin (Happy memories of bright, bright cerise pink dungarees worn with a buttercup yellow shirt.)

HollyJollyDillydolly · 16/04/2015 16:14

Probably dungarees too, they look so comfy.
I'd also love to wear pretty heeled shoes but I have wide feet, high insteps & bunions sexy

fulltothebrim · 16/04/2015 16:17

Oh no= not the dreaded dungarees. I wore them in the 1970s - hellish if you need a pee quickly.
Now with my middle aged bladder my dungarees would have wet patches.

ghostyslovesheep · 16/04/2015 16:49

45 and small and round Grin I got my self some dungarees in next today - 13 year old declared 'they look cool mum' - win Grin

Flyinggeese21 · 16/04/2015 17:04

I'd love to wear high heels with socks or even better stiletto sandals with socks. I missed the boat by about 20 years and could never pull it off now.

noddyholder · 16/04/2015 17:15

I have an old pair from the late 80s and put them on today with a pair of wedges and little lacey t shirt they looked ok ish but I probably won't venture far!

Dutch1e · 16/04/2015 17:18

Thigh-high socks. Shame i'm 150 years with legs like an ancient American Redwood.

Maybe in the next life

OnlyLovers · 16/04/2015 17:24

I dream of wearing little white vintage broderie slips around the house of a morning.

Oh, so do I! They're so crisp. I actually bought one in TK Maxx last summer. Quite modest and billowy with a lovely modern laser-cut lace effect going on.

I took it back though. I had a strict word with myself and admitted that I just couldn't justify it.

Not so much because I wouldn't have time to drift about, but because my house is quite cold and I'm a chilly mortal, and I would only be warm enough in it for about two days in a year.

I still hanker after them though.

Cocolepew · 16/04/2015 17:53

Well now its tutu skirts after seeing the pictures . I always wanted a Harrington jacket, Im not sure why I haven't bought one before now Hmm

Flingingmelon · 16/04/2015 18:30

I want a big pale grey knee length tutu to wear with a white tee and a leather jacket. My DS would destroy it (and I might also look mental.)

Belinda - I do have a couple of pairs of H and M maternity skinnies but at 33 weeks they aren't aptly named! And my bump is starting to outgrow the bump containing section...

And usually my flat tummy is my favourite feature, so I mean low slung jeans really, worn with heeled sandals and a simple tee. It's my summer look Sad

Asos actually had maternity faux leather leggings but I had a word with myself.

Dowser · 16/04/2015 20:36

Quote
To whoever wanted cowboy boots: I bought a pair of Tony Lama ones in NYC last year and can honestly say they go with everything, look fabulous and are extremely comfortable. They did cost £350 but I've never invested better in forward. Do it!

OMG!

I couldn't justify boots at that price!

So pleased they bring you joy though!

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 16/04/2015 21:35

OnlyLovers - oh, then in the fashion fantasy, you also have slouchy cashmere socks and a cashmere robe. The socks would not get holes and the robe wouldn't get caught on anything or get grotty. You would just waft and look pristine, but also cosy. And most definitely serene and pretty, even sans make up.

Ballroom - I've never had a flat tum. Although always wanted one (without having to work for it). You'll get yours back. The last month or so or pregnancy is hard, fashion wise. I just blew out everywhere, esp when preg w my twins, and couldn't fit into more than a handful of things. I even had to buy bigger shoes. Although, my hairs and nails were fantastic [silver lining]

guffaux · 16/04/2015 21:36

a full length, deep dark blue velvet cape .... swiiiiisssshhhh !

would never ever have an opportunity to wear one, and would probably have to wear a mask so I could fully act out my dramatic swish, without self-consciousness curbing my enthusiasm, but it would be fun.

somehow cant see a short dowdy tubby 50=odd year old carrying it off Grin

Postchildrenpregranny · 16/04/2015 21:46

Had two jumpsuits in the early eifhties-brigh red and turquoise . I so wish I could wear now but would look ridiculous
Ditto leather trousers

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/04/2015 21:52

Ooh a full length hooded cape like the Scottish Widows advert.

Maybe black with a royal purple lining.
I'd have my hair swept back, dark eyeliner and mascara, perfect eyebrows and red lipstick.
And a beautiful cashmere jersey dress and boots (in my dreams) Smile

Plomino · 16/04/2015 21:58

Occasionally I'd like to wear linen trousers in that 'waft about foraging mushrooms with a trug ' country living fantasy kinda way. Then I look out of the kitchen window at the mud and the fact that nanoseconds after putting anything linen on , it looks like pyjamas no matter how much I iron it, and sanity reasserts itself.

Notfootball · 16/04/2015 22:06

Dungarees here too. Ffs lets just do it, let's all go out and buy some and with that many women wearing them, they're bound to become acceptable.

BallroomWithNoBalls · 16/04/2015 22:34

Belinda you are teeny and bore twins! That gives me hope. I was the size of a house with my first, am trying to be more restrained this time. Although I have just eaten an entire large Papa Johns pizza in front of the leaders debate... Hmm

I'd like to add anything that needs ironing. So lovely white cotton tops and dresses in summer, and silk shirts. Just not happening in real life.

And white jeans. One day.

I do love motherhood but it's a pita in fashion terms Grin

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 16/04/2015 22:42

ballroom - I put on 25kg - I carbed it up. More than I should have. Dukan diet helped get it back off. I think some women do put on more than others during pregnancy, and for that, I blame scones with name and cream. Damned tasty little things. Anyway, not long for you, now... I def wear white jeans, though, even w DCs - put a squirt of bleach into the washing machine. Also, just hang up your silk shirts near steam.

Jux · 16/04/2015 22:51

Dungarees are a PITA when you need the loo by the time you get them off it's too late.

minimalisthoarder · 16/04/2015 22:53

ArtDecoGirly, those are the feet I want, the size 5s! I have size 8, B fitting and flat. I manage with endless orthotics, insoles and grippers to try to make shoes fit. I own nothing without straps. Those fake lace up ones with a zip up the side are the ultimate betrayal. I sympathise with the 7aa poster.

There is an online shop based in Scotland that does narrow fitting shoes, but they're really expensive and mostly really frumpy. I fantasise about made to measure shoes. DD has more normal feet, but my narrow heels poor child.

ConferencePear · 16/04/2015 23:05

I went on holiday to Russia when there were still some of those shops that were reserved for party officials. Despite all my animal welfare leanings I tried on a fur coat and I fell for it. It was just the most beautiful and luxurious thing I've ever laid hands on.
I couldn't have afforded it and would have had no where to go in it, but I understood the attraction.
