I would love:

  1. a pair of dungarees
  2. a baby blue velour tracksuit

but I feel too contrained by society and my arse (which is now decending down the back of my legs).

How about you?

Gosh, I hope you're right. I'm looking at the intervention now... thank you.

trice · 16/04/2015 08:32

I would love to dress like Greyson Perry! I absolutely love colour and texture in clothing. I couldn't walk in his shoes though.

I am strictly a jeans and t shirt person, I have mum hair. Inside I am a peacock.

MrsTedCrilly · 16/04/2015 09:10

I feel so sad reading these! Wish society was less judging and we could all wear whatever we damn please.. Mine is high heels, I'm already taller than DP so we would look like Paul Daniels and his wife! Grin But it's less about how we'd look, more that I don't want to be looking down on DP..

Dowser · 16/04/2015 09:20

Right now I'm channelling my inner teenager.

About 6 years ago I had a complete wardrobe revamp.

Out went all the trousers and mumsy jumpers . In came pretty little skirts, tops, heeled boots, heeled shoes. My favourite pair are black suede, edged with pink and have black and white stripes on the heels and the little baby cham gazelle for some strange reason.

Now I wear dresses mainly. Pretty little ones from the likes of Dorothy Perkins, Bhs . I like quiz dresses.

I love going into m and s and ( with oh who likes their shirts) and chatting to assistants and ask just who are they designining for. Their stuff is so frumpy. I tell them they must be for 90 year olds as I'm 63 and I won't wear them.

I love the 40s/ 50s style swing dresses and have a couple in my wardrobe.
Recently OH and I have bought some alternate style clothing which we will wear to Glastonbury .

I just wish I'd done it years ago. I'm really making up for lost time.

I also have the white laced up Victorian boots.

I love all the steampunk stuff but OH and I haven't bought into it......yet!

Dowser · 16/04/2015 09:23

Oh yes and out went all the cotton t shirt nighties as well!

Dowser · 16/04/2015 09:29

I wouldn't mind being able to wear a pair of 'chase me' kylie's gold hot pants but only with a Kylie style bum in them!

Cinderella's dress in the film was divine.

CastielsClevererBetterSister · 16/04/2015 09:42

A dress. I can't wear dresses. I look ridiculous and my legs chafe. Would love a floaty maxi or a nipped in rockabilly polka dot dress. With high heels and steamed stockings. But I'd look like a weeble with pipecleanerz sticking out the bottom Sad

CastielsClevererBetterSister · 16/04/2015 09:43

Seamed not steamed stockings.

Pasithea · 16/04/2015 10:56

I have ever since being a small child wanted a shoe collection but at a 7 aa fitting that's never going to happen.

kiwimumof2boys · 16/04/2015 10:57

White jeans and a black turtleneck with flat greek sandals a la jackie Onassis in late '60s/early 70's.
Unfortunately: - I am 5"2 (Black and white together - cuts me in half and makes me look shorter and fatter, also cannot wear flat sandals/shoes).

  • I have fat thighs (white pants? no)
  • I have 14F tits (turtlenecks do not suit me)
Still, I can dream. Also would love to float around in maxi boho threads that Marianne Faithfull and Anita Pallenberg used to waltz around in early 70's. Or skinny grey jeans and boho top like Kate Moss.
OVienna · 16/04/2015 12:07

I wish I could look good in converse with a jean mini skirt. No way - thunder legs.Wouldn't matter what I weighed.

fulltothebrim · 16/04/2015 12:10

I loved the little ra-ra skirts of the 1980s- it just won't happen though.

DamFineBeaver · 16/04/2015 12:27

Interested by people saying dungarees are too masculine. I think that's partly why I like them. I like looking/feeling more masculine. But I know I get much more positive feedback from people around me if I look more feminine, so that is how I have learned to present myself.

Good for you Dowser. As others have said, life's to short to wear boring clothes.

ephemeralfairy · 16/04/2015 12:59

Ugg boots and a gilet. They look so comfy but just don't suit me.

toffeeboffin · 16/04/2015 13:44

Pretty, chiffony, sleeveless blouses. With my arms its never gonna happen!

Really short shorts, dont have the legs [sad

ArtDecoGirly · 16/04/2015 13:58

I'd just love to have normal feet. Size 5, D fitting, just walk into a shop and buy shoes that fit feet. Not my canoes that are too long

Shock at size 5 shoes being canoes!

BallroomWithNoBalls · 16/04/2015 14:01

Leather leggings
High heels
Skinny jeans
Cropped tops

All things out of bounds to this pregnant hippo for now... Sad summer and everyone looks all fab and floaty, I'm just choosing outfits which fit and don't make me sweat.

Takver · 16/04/2015 15:17

Dowser I love the steampunk look too. Unfortunately, I'm not sure rural Pembrokeshire is really ready for full on steampunk. I also love a lot of Cyberdog clothes - see problem above re. rural Pembrokeshire . . . Sadly DH and DD vetoed this sweatshirt and this dress which I could potentially wear as naff.

Really, I just need to move to Brighton, don't I Grin

CatthiefKeith · 16/04/2015 15:24

Dungarees here too.

Sadly I am already quite a masculine build, and fear I woul look more like Mr Tumble than the lady pictured upthread. Sad

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 16/04/2015 15:26

Ballroom - you can wear maternity skinnies. I lived in mine throughout my pregnancies and for a good few months after.

I dream of wearing little white vintage broderie slips around the house of a morning. Just wafting about, clutching a cup of coffee, day dreaming. The reality is that I am dashing about in the mornings, getting ready in a mad rush, while herding, feeding and dressing the reluctant DCs.

HellKitty · 16/04/2015 15:27

I'm still laughing at all those wanting dungarees. I'm sure that you would all look like Barbara Goode and not like the cast of Prisoner Cell Block H Grin

I had some when I was 10. Navy blue corduroy and dark brown corduroy ones. I never want dungarees again. My friend had shiny disco pants. I wanted shiny disco pants.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 16/04/2015 15:27

Hmmm I would love to just wear black top, black trousers, hair up no make up every day but in rl I make quite a bit of effort to look glam, and stylish. I hate doing it, cba. Confused

AkiMitsukai · 16/04/2015 15:41

Moonfacebaby don't let your psoriasis ruin it for you anyone who stares or make a comments should just do one (I've got psoriasis all over) xx

50ShadesOfSummer · 16/04/2015 15:42

You can wear shiny disco pants! They are surprisingly flattering.
