I would love:

  1. a pair of dungarees
  2. a baby blue velour tracksuit

but I feel too contrained by society and my arse (which is now decending down the back of my legs).

How about you?

Sleeveless tops.
Shorts/ trousers- my ass is practically concave so I really can not wear those.
A big floppy hat- huge, round face/ head.
Dungarees- I do have some that I wear at home. And look ridiculous in them.
Strapless dresses- my udders just pull them down.
Oh and strappy heels, but my foot has too many scars ao it's physically impossible to.

Greenteandchives · 15/04/2015 13:13

I love the tiny shorts with tights look on other people, but would never wear them myself. Envy

ghostyslovesheep · 15/04/2015 13:19

a jump suit - but at 5ft 1" and a size 12 it doesn't work!

Breadrocks · 15/04/2015 13:23

I second whoever said triangle bikini. But alas, my mahusive norks have their own postcode, so it's not meant to be.....Sad

I would love to wear tiny denim hotpants. On hot days like today I imagine myself in a cowboy hat and boots, little white tee and minuscule denim shorts hanging out with a cold beer and a man who looks like Bradley cooper. Instead every pair I've every tried on make my thighs look horrendous. C'mon clothes designers, invent a pair of hot pants that can make my size 14 cottage cheese legs look slender and tanned!

VolumniaDedlock · 15/04/2015 13:23

short shorts, or indeed any shorts, with or without tights.
I'm not that big now (tall size 14), but even as a lanky teenager I had shite legs, with both thunder thighs and cankles.

RedCrayons · 15/04/2015 13:24

I never knew how much I wanted Dungarees till I read this thread.

Uggs - they're so fugly but look so
Comfy.
Skyscraper stripper heels - my knees can't cope with high heels anymore
Lilac hair - I drive past a woman every day on my way to work who has lilac hair an it's gorgeous. I'm not in a lilac hair kind of job sadly.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 15/04/2015 13:26

Leggings and a skater-type dress. I daren't try this because I am absolutely feckin' enormous, and worry that I would look awful. And I don't know what footwear one would wear with this combo - socks and shoes/boots??

Breadrocks · 15/04/2015 13:34

Oh and a poncho, they look very stylish on some people, but due to aforementioned mahusive norks, they make me look like a circus tent.

Sunny67 · 15/04/2015 13:40

Cerise pink/purple and black snakeskin, block heeled, open backed, cowboy type shoes. To be honest, I do actually own said shoes but haven't worn them in a long time as OH fell about laughing at them but I stuck to wearing them as we were going out to lunch and he couldn't help but pint them out to everyone. Not that they are particularly missable.
They have survived several wardrobe clear outs and I still love them in a gorgeous ugly way!

sleepwhenidie · 15/04/2015 13:56

A grown up tutu like these...but where on earth to wear it Hmm Smile

takemeuptheeiffeltower · 15/04/2015 14:00

Why would anyone want to to wear dungarees? They're so masculine and ugly looking.

MrsFlannel · 15/04/2015 14:03

Tower because their very masculinity throws a woman's femininity into the spotlight...highlights it.

MrsFlannel · 15/04/2015 14:06

I mean come on...does SHE look masculine?

to ask what item of clothing you'd love to own and wear but can't bring yourself to?
notsmartenough · 15/04/2015 14:09

Hats. Love them, but they don't suit me.
I have three woolly winter hats and two summer straw hats but everytime I put them on and look in the mirror I immediately take them off again.
I won't wear them outside.
I'd love to have a whole shedload of hats (a la Edna in Emmerdale) but it would be a waste.

And - fairy wings. Lovely, glittery, sparkly fairy wings. Do they count as clothing?
I wish I could have had a pair when I was little but sadly I'm rather old now...

SirDiddymus · 15/04/2015 14:16

I'm wearing my dungaree shorts for the first time today, I did have to ask DH if I looked like a frumpy old mum trying to revive her inner 10 year old...he says not.

They are very comfy and I've worn them with tights and a 3/4 sleeve shirt underneath (so not much startlingly white, cellulitey flesh is on show!).

SirDiddymus · 15/04/2015 14:17

Oh, and jumpsuits. I love them. But I'm 5ft2 and a size 12 so they all look ridiculous.

MistressDeeCee · 15/04/2015 14:17

SDTG
"Leggings and a skater-type dress".

I do swing dance classes & go to socials - the bigger women look FAR better in that combo you mentioned, especially when they glam their hair & make up. I don't know if they have nipped in waists or its the wide belts that do it but they look brilliant. I just think a bigger shape goes with that style. Dance teacher is a size 16 lives in skater dresses I want to be her

Generally I think, wear what the hell you like - Im 51 haven't quite evolved out of the 70s/vintage phase yet..I still love vintage clothing, denim jumpsuits, big hair, wedge/platform soles and couldn't care less what anyone may think about it. Life's too shortSmile

lastlines · 15/04/2015 14:24

A lovely above the knee Audrey Hepburn style shift dress. Even at my thinnest, I had knees like an elephant's and am pear shaped so can never wear that cut, but it's so simple and elegant. It looks great on other women.

loveareadingthanks · 15/04/2015 14:39

Halter necks but large boobs mean that if I wear a halter neck bra it nearly decapitates me.

Likewise little spaghetti strap tops, have big old bra straps showing.

Shame as I don't have a large number of nice bits to show off but my shoulders/back are good.

Layered boho look but I just look like a bonkers aging hippy.

SnotQueen · 15/04/2015 14:50

I'd love to wear all of my old clothes. But I'm a good 3 stone away from squeezing into them.
Actually I'm so fat right now, I dream of being able to wear jeans (not leggings) and a vest top (not a floaty thing).
I love casual Audrey Hepburn style - that's my latest love.

takemeuptheeiffeltower · 15/04/2015 14:57

I mean come on...does SHE look masculine?

She looks feminine wearing dungarees, but that's probably due to the fact she has long hair and is slim.
If she was thickset with short hair, the dungarees would make her look masculine.

Nothing wrong with that - if you want to look masculine.

takemeuptheeiffeltower · 15/04/2015 14:59

Mrs Flannel,
I wouldn't look as feminine as the girl in your pic if I were to wear dungarees. I'm short and fat and my hair is short and the dungarees would make me look even more masculine.

SirDiddymus · 15/04/2015 15:04

If i didn't want to "out" myself I'd post a picture of me in my dungarees. I certainly have never been described as looking masculine (not that it would bother me in the slightest).

takemeuptheeiffeltower · 15/04/2015 15:04

I would love to be able to wear those ass hanging out shorty-shorts, but alas I think they only look really good on girls with long, slim legs.
I am too old, my legs are too short and fat Sad and I would look a sight.

SolasEile · 15/04/2015 15:05

Shorts. They're very popular here where I live in a sunny part of the world and plenty of my friends wear them. Short-shorts are particularly popular, worn by tall skinny tanned women usually.

I last wore shorts aged 14 so there is no way I could pull that look off now aged 30-something and having had 2 children... wish I had the guts to try though!
