I could not disapprove more strongly of these fools who dress up like Poundshop ninjas and cause trouble in mobs. The last thing we need is civil disorder at ports. I hope they all get arrested.

But you have to despair at ‘smash the gangs’. It seems as if the gangs are smashing our law enforcement.

It won't look great though... hotels for the illegal arrivals, jail for the men opposing them.

This is a big problem for Labour. It could derail them enough to bail at some point.

I was very much not impressed with Danny Tommo and his antics at Dover yesterday…

Now I think perhaps it was about something else? Because clearly the government were very prepared for the boat landing at Portsmouth. They’ve got everything ready for them. They knew that was happening or they are able to deploy incredibly rapidly to support illegals coming into our country.

Actually, as I typed that I realised it’s a very obvious thing to say, yeah, of course they’re prepared. But it’s fucking shocking. Did anyone who lives in Portsmouth know this was going to happen today? I did think that anyone along the coast needs to be prepared but it somehow still shocking to see this happen.

We don’t matter to them in the slightest. I mean it’s extraordinary.

I did wonder why the protesters didn’t get in the water yesterday.

I was going to have an early night tonight!

It was only yesterday an Iraqi man was arrested for raping a 14 year old boy in Portsmouth as well.

They knew because the French knew about the boat that left Jobourg in the night Saturday to Sunday with 140 people on board.

It’s a long crossing.

Maybe all this talk about actually physically stopping the boats has resulted in a quiet plan, and what happened in Dover yesterday was like an announcement of that plan?

I don’t know. I can’t shake the feeling that everything is orchestrated and everyone is an actor, because it’s all so fucking outrageous.

Excuse the swearing, I don’t normally swear, but I’m just … I haven’t got the words this evening. I think what happens is I spend time trying not to think about it, ignore the news for a bit and then it all kicks off. And then I’m horrified all over again at what’s happening.

The French scrambled 5 vessels and 2 helicopters but the migrant were determined to go to the UK.

Yes just read that it was shadowed by numerous boats before being intercepted around the Solent. Not confirmed whether they were heading for the Isle of Wight.They were then transferred to Portsmouth.

The first duty of the government is to protect the borders. Ours are actively encouraging people to come in.

I meant that the authorities in Portsmouth were prepared because they knew about the boat.

The residents knew hours before because multiple coaches were parked ready to drive the migrants away, also there were rescue helicopters buzzing overhead and it then spread all over local social media.

Reports from the French that 30 people fell off the boat and entered the water as it was so crowded. Presumably the shadow boats were picking them up as the boat crossed.

I'm going to bed before I wind myself up too much to sleep! Night all.

It's being reported the French Coastguard escorted the dinghy halfway across the Channel, the handed over to the RLNI (I think) to being them to Portsmouth. Someone remind me, please, how much the UK is paying the French to stop these crossings?

I feel totally wound up too - when will it ever end. Really having to bite my tongue tonight .

Just checked ✖️. Live videos, it's not good. Allegations that the police are pepper spraying protesters. And to bring them ashore the day after a 14 year old boy was raped. Just how unfeeling are this government.
