A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 🥀

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

True.
The new cabinet isn't much better, so I'm sure they'll be just as unpopular when they get going.

It was like a horrible dr who episode where the darlecks wore human skins and took over .

Please can we have Rishi back?! 🙏

Yes definitely agree on that!

Oh yes. They’ll become disliked and mocked very quickly.

But Starmer and Reeves were out on their own for grating, awful voices.

I remember when the US blasted rock and pop music at Noriega to get him to come out of his sanctuary and surrender. (Google says the music included Rick Astley and KC and the Sunshine Band!). It worked.

I reckon a Reeves budget speech at high volume on a loop would break anyone. Probably cruel and unusual punishment though and against international rules.

🤣🤣 Brilliant.
They should have tried the Noriega trick to get Starmer out of No.10 when he was clinging on.

I didn't know they'd used Rick Astley in Panama though! Thats ruined my day, I bloody love Rick.

I was listening to a podcast only an hour ago about Noriega whilst cooking. Spooky that you've just mentioned that now.

Convicted fraudster, solicitor who is not a solicitor, old dog whistle, one who can’t even work her own taxes out, then our best buddy, left Manchester in debt, 104 million wasted on ULEZ that didn’t happen, GMP special measures, dubious deals with property developers, hardly any social housing built but hey overpriced skyscrapers for the well to do, homelessness up, but what could possibly go wrong!

Yep, agree with all of that.
The boss of Renaker now lives in Monaco thanks to AB,. The truth will out.

Real property/being a landlord seems to be an Achilles heel for the left. Various Labour figures have fallen flat on their faces over property ownership or running rentals.

Do you think that's why the Lefties are so against landlords? They assume that all landlords are as dishonest and venal as the 'Socialist' ones are...

Classic projection.

Hard to say. I’d go for the most obvious answer, I think: the left is so preachy and self-regarding that they don’t examine themselves - they’re so convinced of their own virtue, they don’t think they need to - so fail to see that in reality they’re as bad as everyone else, and so sometimes you get spectacular displays of hypocrisy, whether the mistreatment of tenants, freebie grabbing or anything else.

The expenses scandal, for example, showed there’s no greater morality or decency on the left. But there is a great deal more posturing and lecturing about values and righteousness.

It does often seem that they assume that anything they think or do must be virtuous, simply because it is the Left thinking/doing it. Confused

Why are Burnham and Milliband picking a fight with Israel now?

Why are Burnham and Milliband picking a fight with Israel now?

I think Burnham sold that in at the time of the leadership bid. He needed the left of the party onside.

Nuthatch26 · 06/09/2026 08:47

Morning 😁

@NancyThompson

Green votes is the simple answer.

Its on the front page of the DT this morning. Wise words from Tom Tugendhat here. Labour friends of Israel also not happy.

Burnham won’t care.

There has been quite a lot about the proposed mansion tax lately and I’m interested in the consequences of this, should it be made law.
Will owners of houses liable for it deliberately make their properties look scruffy so as to reduce the value?
If it becomes hard to sell houses which are valued at or just over £2 million, then the sellers will have to reduce the price, and therefore the value, to under £2 million meaning the government won’t receive tax.

I’m sure house owners will come up with some other inventive ideas to keep the value down.

etc.

It’s really horrible and cynical for national politicians to flirt with antisemitism to get votes. We should be helping people to integrate which means in part giving up old prejudices. The BBC misreported a lot of incidents over the last few years loudly about Israel, but issued only muted retractions. Wanting desperately to pander to the “cool kids.”

I've been reading a bit more about the Dover protests. Apparently quite a disciplined mob, dressed almost in uniform, faces covered, very few flags in evidence.
Their organiser is a guy called Danny Tommo supposedly, and the whole thing has a very Christian/Defender of the Faith ethos.

"Tommo" is a violent thug with a conviction for attempted kidnapping.
