A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 🥀

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Thanks @Nuthatch26 🙂

That cartoon is depressingly accurate.

EasternStandard · 19/08/2026 10:35

Thanks! There’s been some cracking Matt cartoons lately, the electricity bill one was hilarious

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 19/08/2026 10:46

Thanks for the new thread.

That’s a brilliant cartoon.

Checking in , thanks for the new thread.
I dread to think what horrors await us and what miseries will unfold in this thread but at least we have each other 😂

I saw a blistering attack on the gov on an X post they had really drawn together nearly all their massive failings...it was somerhing linked to Brussels farmers ?

SapphireCasino · 19/08/2026 11:35

Hello everyone

To pick up from the last thread someone mentioned that they expect/think doctors will act in the best interests of the patient

I don’t think that about NHS doctors at all! I can’t emphasise that enough. Quite scared of having to deal with them now.

SheepinWolfsdress · 19/08/2026 11:59

Sapphire I think the point was we believe or should believe that doctors act to get us the best care available at that time .ie that's what they should be doing!
And yet there has been something going on behind the scenes with dogdy skewed incentives that mean some referrals are being delayed.

This is to make NHS waiting times look better.

Yes it's worrying !

But at least we know now and can call any docs out on it lol

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 19/08/2026 12:19

I’m pleased to see that the media is finally holding Rayner to account for her hypocrisy about second jobs. (The Mail’s article linked-to reports on Rayner being questioned on Sky News about her second jobs, so it’s not an issue just got up by the Mail.)

Rayner’s justification is laughable.

Labour hypocrisy goes unremarked a lot of the time in the main media. Perhaps everyone just takes it for granted now.

Angela Rayner defends raking in thousands of pounds in speaking gigs

The register of MPs' interests shows that Ms Rayner raked in nearly £90,000 from speaking engagements between February and June this year.

SapphireCasino · 19/08/2026 12:53

@SheepinWolfsdress my personal experience hasn’t been like that sadly! That’s what I meant by being scared to deal with them, it’s all based on experience.

DinnerinfrontoftheTV · 19/08/2026 13:26

New name after discussion of AI scraping on the last thread.

Thanks for the new thread @Nuthatch26 !

The Home Office has kindly published a guide for asylum seekers on how not to be Mr Rapey Raperson. I'm sure that'll be super effective and prove it was all just a terrible misunderstanding all along.

Is that real? Jaw dropping if so!
What country in their right mind behaves like this?

It shouldn’t be too hard to comprehend though.

Keep it in and don’t do anything you would not want to be done to
your sister, wife or daughter.

How do you mean?

The UK is actually quite late to doing this kind of thing.

I mean, I don’t think it’s going to help, but I have spent years taking the piss out of other countries for doing it… lots of people involved in producing that got paid a lot of money I expect!

LuckyHazelFox · 20/08/2026 06:28

Here, loud and clear. Thanks @Nuthatch26

Nothing but a drop in the ocean. A facile attempt at policing behaviour which is culturally inherent. 1/10.

Yes other countries may do similar, but are they also simultaneously trying to gaslight their population by not releasing crime stats?
Scandinavian countries at least recognise the increased risk and collect the data.

The wording in the pamphlet is disturbing.

Yes we've not quite achieved the heady heights of Finland and its no-no square.

The UK still has some ‘work to do’ before it can match Finland’s record when it comes to educating asylum seekers not to commit rape. What if they can’t read?!... https://t.co/Ao0vfedB6n
