I crapped myself today...

Name changed for very obvious reasons..

I've been under the weather for the last few days, sort of like I have a cold but without the runny nose, feel run down but otherwise okay to carry on shopping /attend school events (eldest leaving primary this week), looking after toddler etc.

Stood in the living room about to try on my new dress and out of nowhere I catastrophically shit myself. No warning, no cramps, nothing, just explosive watery shit. I am so fucking happy that I was at a home but I am MORTIFIED. This has never happened to me before, even close and I have IBS but jesus fucking christ I am so embarrassed.

I had to confess to dp though and I'm in and out of the bathroom now every 2 mins it feels like. I've gone to bed now and trying to ignore the literal shit show that has happened to me today.

I don't know why I'm posting other than in pure hope that some solidarity will be shown to me and it'll ease my tense embarrassment...

Guess you’re not aware of the prolific poo troll

I think the majority of us are, to be fair. But to be honest, those sick type of people will never go away, so why should we have to censor what we post, just because of the odd random weirdos?
Thankfully I don't think they've contributed to this thread from all the posts I've read.

I think a lot more people have had something like this happen than would ever admit it. It feels absolutely mortifying when it's you, but bodies are weird and sometimes they just decide to betray us at the worst possible moment. The fact you were already feeling unwell makes me wonder if your body was just fighting something off. I'm glad you were at home and that you had someone you trusted enough to tell, because I think most partners would be much more understanding than we imagine. Try not to beat yourself up about it, it's horrible in the moment but it will become one of those things you eventually laugh about.

Everyone is. No one cares.

Perhaps not contributed to the thread…

And? What are you going to do? Censor every conversation in case some weirdo is getting their kicks from it? Do you realise how juvenile the phrase poo troll sounds?

Me? I just chuckle, read some of the posts and generally feel relieved my bowels are in order 😆

Why would you share this!

What a weird place mumsnet can be.

Give your head a wobble. It happens, and sometimes can be a precursor to more serious issues, but because of judgy narrow minded twats like you, people are afraid to talk about it until it's too late and turns out to be bowel cancer.

A new level of smug…having working bowels. Slow clap for you.

I’m not smug
but I too certainly read these (surprisingly frequent) “I crapped myself” threads and absolutely feel relieved that my bowels are in order

Can you get some good advice to help you in the future? I imagine this has left you afraid of going out because of the lack of warning. Has your doctor prescribed anything to help? I wonder if seeing a dietician could help you figure out the trigger for your ibs. I have crohns disease & had to have life saving surgery for it in the year 2000 & I've had an ileostomy bag since, so I sympathise, & ignore anyone shaming you here for sharing. They clicked on the title. Please try & look further into what could be triggering you, but in the meantime, you can take plenty of immodium which can be bought over the counter, and don't forget to take electrolytes too & water. You lose a lot of fluid & electrolytes with an episode like this & it can leave you very weak & depleted. Don't be put off by price of electrolytes, they are totally worth it.

I’m assuming you are new around these parts (or terminally naive)

neither, thanks.

Please feel free to elaborate on how, even if randompootroll finds OP's thread and gets their rocks off envisioning it, this actually impacts her in any way?

If you can explain why if she, as a grown adult, who isn't bothered by this (remote) possibility makes the reasoned decision that she still wants to post, you have the right to tell her not to, because of your ridiculous paranoia, then even better.

If you advised women to stop wearing skirts and dresses because there are creeps who like upskirting everyone would tell you that you can stop wearing skirts if you want but it's none of your business telling others what they should do. Same with leaving the house after dark, or taking taxis alone because sometimes women get raped.

Why is this different? If anything it's even less impactful on an ANONYMOUS forum.

Perverts, rapists, and general creeps exist. If we limited our lives to avoid them completely women would never leave the house or interact with anyone. All we can do is decide our personal comfort and risk levels, which is an individual decision.

Snogarama · 23/07/2026 06:47

I had UBS (Unreliable Bottom Syndrome) when I was on chemo. It's horrible! I often got caught out while taking the dog out and did what bears do, but also many mad dashes in shopping centres. I had to pre plan every outing.

This 100%.

It’s why I can’t get over the banal stupidity of the poo troll hunters. By some minuscule possibility there is a poo troll happily wanking away to stories of women shitting themselves….so what? Nobody is ever going to be any the wiser. Nobody’s life is going to be affected in any way. But sure let’s pander to this ridiculousness rather than offer to support to someone who is actually struggling.

newyearnoeu · 23/07/2026 21:17

Exactly.

If you happen to notice a post that is a bit weirdly worded that's one thing, although even then MN are very clear that you are supposed to report it to them rather than turn into the thread police.

It's the weird, unthinking = someone mentions poo MUST IMMEDIATELY REFER TO BOGEYMAN automatic response every single time without pausing to engage brain or use rational thinking that is just completely illogical.

Plus then the 'if anyone disagrees it must be because they are so incredibly naive and innocent they don't understand...' No, actually, it's the opposite. I am unfortunately very aware of the murky depths of internet creepiness. I used to work on police csa cases, and more. That's why I struggle to panic about the low likelihood and even lower risk of someone potentially using an anonymous forum as wank fodder while the real dangers go uncommented on.

There's also the logic failure of if anyone could be a poo troll then that is equally applicable in RL as online - so, what, women shouldn't discuss anything potentially sexual or embarrassing with their friends, family or medical professionals either?

If you don't want to talk about your poo online by all means crack on. But suggesting other people can only have nefarious reasons for doing so says more about you than it does them.

Completely agree. It’s so tiresome. There is a huge stigma attached to bowel issues, we need to talk about it more, not less, perhaps less people would die of bowel cancer if we did. (My Mum, Gran and Uncle all died of bowel cancer. My Mum had Crohn’s and I have terrible ibs).

I agree with you. Peeing and crapping should not be taboo subjects. I say that as someone who has IBS (well controlled atm), and excessive urination.

zacsGranny · 25/07/2026 10:05

After my horrendous Colonoscopy on Tuesday ( I requested sedation and was refused) I have now been told that surgery for my bowel issue is not an option. I have serious Smoldering Diverticulitis which will need to be managed.
However there is a total lack of support here in the UK. I have been waiting months for referrals to a Dietitian and to the Faecal Incontinence Service. It really does make an already bad situation so much worse.
