I crapped myself today...

Name changed for very obvious reasons..

I've been under the weather for the last few days, sort of like I have a cold but without the runny nose, feel run down but otherwise okay to carry on shopping /attend school events (eldest leaving primary this week), looking after toddler etc.

Stood in the living room about to try on my new dress and out of nowhere I catastrophically shit myself. No warning, no cramps, nothing, just explosive watery shit. I am so fucking happy that I was at a home but I am MORTIFIED. This has never happened to me before, even close and I have IBS but jesus fucking christ I am so embarrassed.

I had to confess to dp though and I'm in and out of the bathroom now every 2 mins it feels like. I've gone to bed now and trying to ignore the literal shit show that has happened to me today.

I don't know why I'm posting other than in pure hope that some solidarity will be shown to me and it'll ease my tense embarrassment...

Why did you??

I clicked to warn others because I’ve been around here since it was all fields - blah blah blah - and threads like this pop up depressingly often posted by weird individuals out for their own sick kicks!

So you chose to add to the thread which increases traffic rather than ignore? 🤦‍♀️

I looked at the thread because bodily functions don't frighten or outrage me

Hope you feel better soon. There’s a great podcast called The Following Through podcast, they have guests talking about challenges they faced, but every episode also includes people’s stories about shitting themselves. You can even anonymously submit your own shitting yourself story to them. It’s really entertained me and also made me realise that the phrase “shit happens” is true - everyone has a shitting themselves story! And now you have one too

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 18/07/2026 17:59

The only time this happened to me it was a shart, thankfully in bed. DS1 and I both had a stomach bug of some kind.

Packetofcrispsplease · 18/07/2026 18:10

You poor thing .
I have had similar happen to me when I was on a course of antibiotics for a skin condition.
I was out and about 😭 walking the dog was fun getting back …aargh .
And another time we were away from home , got ill with some odd virus , got backache with the virus and needed to be near a loo for a couple of days

scarymalary · 18/07/2026 18:23

yep happened to me when i had covid, and never before or since. just another weird symptom of this weird disease

Tryonemoretime · 18/07/2026 18:34

I'm coeliac and in restaurants have twice been given gluten containing foods which were actually full of gluten. For me, the results are pretty catastrophic. On one of the occasions I just managed to get home before D struck, then literally could only get out of bed to get as far as the ensuite. I called the restaurant to complain and the totally unconcerned manager offered me 10% off our next meal there! As if.....

Atsocta · 18/07/2026 18:35

You have a bug ..drink lots of water, if no better in a few days go to dr
dont know why you posted on here …just AI / google your symptoms 🙄

hugbilly · 18/07/2026 18:48

Sadly it does happen to everyone at some point I think, it's really quite upsetting and a nuisance but . . . you're not alone.

hcee19 · 18/07/2026 18:49

Sound like you have picked up a mild virus, which can irritate the lining of the gut causing liquid diarrhea. Its called urge incontinence when the brain gets a late signal from the gut , that you would normally get, to use the toilet. If you have had no other symptoms, drink plenty water and rest , as much as you can, not always easy, l know. If you get anything else like, a temp, blood and mucus in a stool or pain and dizziness ,seek medical attention. This is just a guide, l hope you are feeling better

Isthereanotherplanettoinhabit · 18/07/2026 18:50

I feel for you OP. That must have been terrible and shocking but I expect there will be a reason it happened that can be sorted. So I would definitely get a telephone appointment with your GP and maybe they will come out to see you. Try not to worry and check out some of the articles on the internet about fecal incontinence. It could be as simple as starting a new medication apparently. I hope you feel better soon .

GladEagle · 18/07/2026 19:06

I think there’s a nasty bug going round

GlitteryRainbow · 18/07/2026 19:08

At least you were home. I was out with my baby and 3 year old. Realised I needed to go and managed to confuse baby changing with toilets. Got to the toilet just as it exploded was all over my underwear and partly on my trousers. As I was cleaning up I kept getting “Mummy”, “Mummy what are you doing?” I was already mortified and I had to explain what had happened and what I was doing to my 3 year old. It was a medication side effect. I always carry some nappy sacks and a change of underwear in my handbag now. I feel your pain OP.

Theresalittlebitofwitchinyou · 18/07/2026 19:11

E-coli <nods sagely>. Eldest child got it first and I thought she had a stomach bug. Then I got it, first symptom was exactly the same as you. 3 days of feeling a bit meh later and suddenly it was camping in the bathroom with a bucket and wishing for death.

Gilead · 18/07/2026 19:19

Oh you poor thing, I feel for you. I have a stoma now but before Ronnie was put in place I could (and often did) shit up to 28 times a day. There wouldn’t be a day when I didn’t soil myself. Very late diagnosis of Crohns.
Really hope you are feeling better soon.

BooBooDoodle · 18/07/2026 19:25

Mumsnet is full of weirdos and I’m talking to the Poo Prudes! Get a life. Shit happens, pun intended. Everyone has poopcidents, most folk have left skids in their under crackers and down the pan and most folk poo every day. Your shit smells just as bad as ours. It’s all natural and not something which you should be shamed for or embarrassed by.

I hope you feel better soon OP. I don’t mind you sharing and wish you a speedy recovery x

PrettyLittleRose · 18/07/2026 19:27

@BooBooDoodle Put me right off my chocolate mousse that has! Confused

Cantcopeomg · 18/07/2026 19:32

Thanks everyone. Not been good today, had the kids until 2 until DP got home and took over for a while and I went to bed. Started to feel better so I said he was fine to go out on his walk and I've started again and now toddler isn't sleeping 😖it is not fun.

Ime men will wank to anything no matter how normal, how hurtful or how perverse. I'm not going to stop living my life just in case a man gets off to it.

Ah, Sean Lock, Viking helmet....

Marmalademorning · 18/07/2026 19:41

Oh dear, look, it’s a poo troll 👹💩👹💩

likelysuspect · 17/07/2026 19:39

Out of all the most and more obvious things it could be, you suggest this, why?

It was the first sign I had covid to be fair. But that was in 2023. Its not the first connection Id make in 2026 I agree.

ThisChirpyFox · 18/07/2026 19:49

MotherTuckinGenius · 17/07/2026 22:15

I actually do care YES. That a forum created for mothers by mothers as a safe space is abused by fucking wanking weirdos but I can see I’m in the minority here so 👋✌️

just get off the bloody thread.

all these people asking why the op posted can just get off too!

it's never happened to me and before I would have said it was disgusting but then when got pregnant I was nearly caught out numerous times and made it to the bathroom in the nick of time. it can happen to anyone and it should be something people should and can talk about.

if there's weird fuckers wanking to it than that's a problem with them and not the op, who is embarrassed and wanted to be reassured by others than they have had experiences similar and not to be embarrassed.

bloody Mumsnet have these people who think they know better than anyone else. gtfo if your not happy with this thread

Tristansnan · 18/07/2026 19:52

Hope you feel better soon . I can't believe somebody is reporting this post . Grow up or leave . People have a right to post if they are unwell/ embarrassed. Support is key

Chrissytommo · 18/07/2026 19:59

COVID??

alondonerabroad · 18/07/2026 20:07

There is currently an outbreak of cyclosporiasis in the USA with exactly these symptoms. I would call your GP to get tested and the relevant antibiotics. Good luck!

mortified4567732 · 18/07/2026 20:14

Solidarity. I did too. Been taking medication for a week with no ill effects, and then suddenly today….! Hope you are feeling better.
