I crapped myself today...

Name changed for very obvious reasons..

I've been under the weather for the last few days, sort of like I have a cold but without the runny nose, feel run down but otherwise okay to carry on shopping /attend school events (eldest leaving primary this week), looking after toddler etc.

Stood in the living room about to try on my new dress and out of nowhere I catastrophically shit myself. No warning, no cramps, nothing, just explosive watery shit. I am so fucking happy that I was at a home but I am MORTIFIED. This has never happened to me before, even close and I have IBS but jesus fucking christ I am so embarrassed.

I had to confess to dp though and I'm in and out of the bathroom now every 2 mins it feels like. I've gone to bed now and trying to ignore the literal shit show that has happened to me today.

I don't know why I'm posting other than in pure hope that some solidarity will be shown to me and it'll ease my tense embarrassment...

Once had a night away in a very posh, very expensive hotel with DC.
He blocked the toilet quite spectacularly the next morning. He was all for just leaving it but I couldn’t do that.
So, yes. I had to put my hand right in and deal with it 🤮
It’s now used as a unit of measurement,

I have IBS myself, though I’ve never been diagnosed, just given medication for constipation a lot recently. I’m suffering constantly from either constipation or explosion. I also have bad abdominal pain on and off.

I’m very nearly caught short at times too.

Oh you poor thing! Sounds like you’ve been so under the weather. Thank goodness you were at home! I don’t know anyone who hasn’t had a poonami at one stage in their adult life so no judging here. Get well soon xx

See a GP about this OP, as you need to know the cause before you van prevent it from reoccuring.

it sounds awful to be honest as you need peace of mind, especially when outside of your house that it won't happen again. You definatly have my sympathy.

My friend has IBD, had it for years and has had to do a lot of wild pooing when out with the dog. It's sudden and quite often she'll think she needs just a wee but has a sudden poo as well.

It's horrible for her so I just thank my lucky stars that I don't have the issues that she and many other people with bowel problems sometimes have on a daily basis.

If it helps to talk about it on an anonymous forum I certainly don't object.

Oh I know the "surprise poo" well, especially on my travels when I think the three plus poo's I've already had cleared me out every morning, I go for a quick wee before leaving the apartment to go sight seeing and there'll be a surprise poo waiting in the wings - their evil plan is to wait to make themselves known once I was about quarter of mile from the apartment if I forget to have that last wee!

I have ibs and complex health issues and I have the most horrendous, sudden bouts of diarrhoea and incontinence. I’m only 45 and I’ve had this most of my life, since I was about 19. Had all the tests, tried everything etc.

Most recently I was in a taxi on the way to the Eurostar in London and I had that awful feeling that those who know will relate to where you feel your stomach start to feel uncomfortable and you’re thinking in this “it” or is this going to pass…. And you’re on a tight schedule so you don’t want to ask the taxi to stop. But I had to and I’m glad I did because the McDonalds toilets that thankfully popped up were about the only thing around for miles and miles!

Exactly. The more it’s talked about the less taboo and embarrassing it becomes. A huge percentage of the population suffer from IBS and bowel/bladder urgency but god forbid you discuss it on MN. Those who say you should be able to ‘just wait’ are blissfully ignorant and those who cry poo troll are pathetically childish.

Yes, I really think there’s a lot of ignorance around bowel issues. And why shouldn’t we discuss / laugh / commiserate about these things anonymously on an online forums? It’s poo, we all do it.

On the same subject - or at least similar. I was asked to give myself an enema before my Colonoscopy! Is that even possible? I said no, so I'm going early so that the Nurse can do it.

My dh has done this and he said it was fine. I think it’s fairly common now as it means less time at the hospital and less prep.

There are some bloody awful people on here, no bloody empathy at all.

3 times I have not been able to get to a toilet in time and so it happens that I soil myself.

you should be bloody ashamed of yourselves.

They usually give you a sachet of Kleen Prep, to clear you out before hand. It's revolting stuff that you drink. Even adding squash as recommended doesn't make it any more bearable. Mine didn't work fully the second time, so the nurse had to give me an enema anyway. But I've never known of anyone having to do their own, no.

Ended up being investigated for bowel cancer, just a thought.

It seems I have a bug and actually woke up...well, you can guess the rest, without me explaining! My best friend had it last week, exactly the same. Now it seems it's my turn.
Bedding boil washed twice and out on the line in the sun! Bedroom cleaned to within an inch of its life.
5-45 this morning! My husband shouted up, "Are you OK love?" So I replied with what had happened. He was heading off to work and just said, "I'll set the washer up for you before I go"! He takes everything in his stride that one! God love him!
So that's put paid to my plans for today. Rest, fluids and scrambled egg for me.
