I crapped myself today...

Name changed for very obvious reasons..

I've been under the weather for the last few days, sort of like I have a cold but without the runny nose, feel run down but otherwise okay to carry on shopping /attend school events (eldest leaving primary this week), looking after toddler etc.

Stood in the living room about to try on my new dress and out of nowhere I catastrophically shit myself. No warning, no cramps, nothing, just explosive watery shit. I am so fucking happy that I was at a home but I am MORTIFIED. This has never happened to me before, even close and I have IBS but jesus fucking christ I am so embarrassed.

I had to confess to dp though and I'm in and out of the bathroom now every 2 mins it feels like. I've gone to bed now and trying to ignore the literal shit show that has happened to me today.

I don't know why I'm posting other than in pure hope that some solidarity will be shown to me and it'll ease my tense embarrassment...

Hope you feel better soon

MegMortimer · 17/07/2026 16:26

You poor thing, I hope you feel better soon. Happened to me once at work, luckily I managed to get myself to the toilets. I'm sure it's a one off because you're not well. If it happens again maybe visit the gp.

Please be wary of sharing any of your own “experiences “ folks!

I don't need anyone's experiences here. I'm not a poo troll I promise you, just a shamed and sick mother 😂

I think most adults have had something like this happen - it’s a fact of life. Hope you feel better soon.

I’ll second this.

Paradoes · 17/07/2026 16:40

You poor thing. Try to get some rest.

BertieMartini · 17/07/2026 16:42

Why would you share this!

What a weird place mumsnet can be.

malloryknox123 · 17/07/2026 16:46

It actually does happen to us all.

all those PPs sniffing at you know they’ve been caught short too, they just don’t want to admit it

HelpMeGetThrough · 17/07/2026 16:46

I’ve had major bowel surgery (a fair amount taken away) and this has happened a few times, without warning.

It’s literally “shit happens”, nothing I can do about it apart from clean up and crack on.

deepseaargyllfish · 17/07/2026 16:48

it can happen when on iron tablets and taking a bit too much (many)

GrottBaggs · 17/07/2026 16:50

Could be Covid possibly?

GingerWifey · 17/07/2026 17:02

I blocked my toilet overnight with a mix of constipation ending and then exploding. I made it to the toilet by the skin of my teeth.
Sending supportive farts you can trust.

KateBushAgain · 17/07/2026 17:05

Oh you poor thing .
Electrolytes and rest .
Its easy to put your own wellbeing at the bottom of the list when you have kids but please prioritise your health .
I would suggest a blood test in case there’s something underlying .

shoesandshipsandsealingwax · 17/07/2026 17:35

Why would you post this unless you had weird intentions?

omghereistrouble · 17/07/2026 17:36

Could be a bug, constipation, virus especially if you have been feeling out of sorts. We all have accidents I did once in my ex husbands car, out shopping got back to car had awful stomach cramps. No time to run across the car park for the public loos so without warning I crapped myself. Walking across from our garage to home I had to wrap my cardigan around myself as my legs and seat on my jeans were pretty mucky

maddiemookins16mum · 17/07/2026 17:37

I never understand why when this sort of this ‘happens’, the first thing people do is post it on the internet. Bizarre.

Balloonhearts · 17/07/2026 17:38

On the up side, at least it didn't happen after you put your new dress on.

ringliketinnitus · 17/07/2026 17:39

Reported.

Hideouslyhot · 17/07/2026 17:40

Classic start to covid

To be fair, the OP is now in bed. She’s not still stood in the lounge, soiled clothes still on, so it’s not actually the first thing she’s done.

4t4 · 17/07/2026 17:42

covid?
mounjaro?
these can have this effect sometimes!

frecklejuice · 17/07/2026 17:43

Happened to me twice this week op, once when I was out and had to get dh to come rescue me and once when I was asleep. Horrendous stomach bug.

Raera · 17/07/2026 17:47

A serious post - OP do you have back problems?
Sudden faecal incontinence can be a sign of a very serious condition requiring immediate attention.
