I crapped myself today...

Name changed for very obvious reasons..

I've been under the weather for the last few days, sort of like I have a cold but without the runny nose, feel run down but otherwise okay to carry on shopping /attend school events (eldest leaving primary this week), looking after toddler etc.

Stood in the living room about to try on my new dress and out of nowhere I catastrophically shit myself. No warning, no cramps, nothing, just explosive watery shit. I am so fucking happy that I was at a home but I am MORTIFIED. This has never happened to me before, even close and I have IBS but jesus fucking christ I am so embarrassed.

I had to confess to dp though and I'm in and out of the bathroom now every 2 mins it feels like. I've gone to bed now and trying to ignore the literal shit show that has happened to me today.

I don't know why I'm posting other than in pure hope that some solidarity will be shown to me and it'll ease my tense embarrassment...

OP posts:

I sympathise! If it makes you feel better, it happened to me in Mexico a couple of years ago - in the hotel room thankfully! Had caught a bacterial infection, I assume from the food, couldn’t get my playsuit down fast enough and there we have it…. Then I stupidly went back the following year and caught an infection again! But thankfully no accidents that time

Happened to me after eating a whole pack of sugar free polo mints - shat the bed.

Sorry, this made me giggle!!

Errr, yes, it IS baffling to tell people about it on a message forum! IN MY OPINION, and that of some other posters according to this thread.

I would certainly not share anything like this online to strangers.

.

Edited

I'd feel more comfortable sharing something like this with strangers than with friends, tbh.

My friends would probably laugh and take the piss, the bastards!

cornflowerbluey · 17/07/2026 20:05

My auntie cr@pped the bed after eating a dodgy yogurt.

It happens to the best of us !

Baking07 · 17/07/2026 20:08

You poor thing.
What a shock.
Hope you feel better soon.
Take some electrolytes if you can.

Chocolatefreak · 17/07/2026 20:10

@Cantcopeomg could it be Cyclospora? If it continues maybe you should get tested as I think it's very persistent. Hope it isn't and you get well quickly.

Um, for solidarity, a distraction when she's feeling unwell, potential for explanations why it might have happened and suggestions for how to avoid it in the future? Just off the top of my head. I find it weirder that your mind can ONLY think there must be something dodgy, tbh.

I don't get the bizarre paranoia on here about poo/other bodily fluids trolls/pervs.

At the end of the day, who the fuck cares if some saddo gets their kicks from reading about an ANONYMOUS incident. They don't know who the posters are or what they look like, and if you don't like it, you don't need to respond. Other posters are adults and can decide if the benefit they get from posting outweighs the potential of some weirdo using it for other purposes.

Not to mention the chance of someone desperately refreshing MN in the hope someone posts a thread relating to their specific fantasy when there is a whole internet worth of very specific porn is a bit paranoid.

I’m assuming you are new around these parts (or terminally naive)

A serious post - OP do you have back problems?
Sudden faecal incontinence can be a sign of a very serious condition requiring immediate attention.

This was also my first thought.

CrowsInMyGarden · 17/07/2026 20:22

I was hanging up my hosepipe last week (before the ban) and some water dribbled out and hit my neck and ran down my back. I weed myself. Thought that was bad enough. Feel for you OP and hope you feel better soon

Why do you need to share this?

LBFseBrom · 17/07/2026 20:28

Why do you need to share this?

Why not? It happens, has happened to me. You can't talk about it in an every day sort of way but here we are anonymous and there may be others who have or have had the same problem who can at least empathise.

I can assure you explosive diarrhoea is a real and terrifying thing.

Mine is well under control now but it takes time. I am not going to give advice because what works for one does not work for another, each of us has to find their own way.

MotherTuckinGenius · 17/07/2026 20:28

And still they keep on coming (and sharing) it’s Friday night folks!

eye roll

I am sorry, I have had the same experience with IBS.

Be careful now, it will pass.

(Why say "Jesus f*ing Christ"? Jesus had nothing to do with it.)

If you believe in god and jesus they are omnipotent and so have something to do with everything, surely?
If you don’t, then it’s just an expression of disbelief, which i’m sure you know.

Pistachiocake · 17/07/2026 20:34

I would see a doctor. I know you say you have IBS so maybe you're already under a doctor's care, but if not, this is a new symptom, that could have serious effects on your life, so they should be able to do some tests and maybe help avoid it happening again. People have been told to shut about about excessive period bleeds etc for years, but it shouldn't be a joke or shameful-whatever is wrong with your body needs checking.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 17/07/2026 20:36

Sorry this has happened to you. Fluid, electrolytes and maybe BRAT diet for a few days. Yes has happened to me. Once years ago I clogged it up with Imodium. Lifesaver. Have bought new knickers when had an accident that was horrendous (thanks perimenopause and period poos). I thought I had IBS but checked with female doctor and apparently not. Peppermint tea and peppermint capsules are great too. Feel better soon.

lmnabc · 17/07/2026 20:37

FeetupTvon · 17/07/2026 20:23

Why do you need to share this?

Sharing is what MN is all about!
if some w!nker wants to get off on this who cares?! Why are you worried about them?

RobertaFirmino · 17/07/2026 20:44

Poo troll or not, we need to talk about our output more. It's such an important indicator of health/illness and nearly everybody does it. So why we have to be so coy about it is beyond me. Remember Dame Bowelbabe?

SatsumaDog · 17/07/2026 20:45

Oh op, I can think of a few occasions over my lifetime I’ve experienced similar. It’s awful.
Luckily you were in the safety of your own home. Take heart. We’ve all been there!

Papyrophile · 17/07/2026 20:46

It has happened to me. More than once. It's your business and you are under no obligation to share it. Take yourself home or to a private enough place, clean up as best you can and launder the evidence. No judgement from me.

MichLBee · 17/07/2026 20:55

My friend was on a day trip to Alicante when they went on a cruise last year. They were with other friends who walked ahead as my friend wasn't feeling too great. They had the children's bag with the wet wipes etc. My mate was desperate that she had to go in a random plant pot (diarrhea) and was mortified she didn't have the baby wipes. Then further along she full on shit herself. Her husband had to swill her legs with water and wrap his top around her waist when boarding the ship. That trip has been renamed Alishante. I also overindulged in a Chinese buffet and trusted a fart. It was not a fart. Thankfully we were a few doors away from my best friends house when it happened and the poor girl was cleaning my shitty clothes for me. That's true friendship. Shit literally happens to the best of us - be thankful you were at home but look after yourself.

malloryknox123 · 17/07/2026 16:46

It actually does happen to us all.

all those PPs sniffing at you know they’ve been caught short too, they just don’t want to admit it

I find this really bizarre. I am in my 50s and this has never happened to me, not even close. I’ve had D&V sure, but you know when you have it. Suddenly and unexpectedly losing control of my bowel, no. I don’t think that is anywhere near a normal experience everyone has. Why are there posters saying it is?!

Nope
No we really don’t go around pissing and shitting ourselves and ‘sharing our lived experience’ on the internet. It’s just fucking weird. But crack on with your “stories” if you want to feed the appetites of literal wankers!

LaBarucci · 17/07/2026 21:03

Shitting yourself can happen to anyone at any time for multiple reasons. I was on a course of heavy antibiotic treatment after an operation to remove an abscess, and back at home, suddenly crapped over the carpet just like that - my anal muscles had simply lost control. Luckily I was alone and the old, thin carpet in the place I was renting was easily cleaned up. Do look out for passing blood or obvious changes of colour in your stools, though.
