Also just reading about the hunting ban what about the ban on halal slaughter surely more poignant seeing as a recent study said 98% supermarket meat is halal now fux sake

I’m not particularly an animal lover, but I want to buy meat from animals that v are humanely slaughtered, and halal ain’t!!

@LupaMoonhowl Rupert Lowe has been raising this issue a lot in parliament including funding a grooming gang enquiry from his own £. His last interjection with a Muslim councillor just ignores the issue jeez this world is fucked up. A lot of slaughter houses are not viable hence large ones being used that are halal I do think one day we will look back and think this was not a great part of history. Using a local abattoir is one thing industrial just awful

@ChristmasisComingtheGooseisGettingScared respectfully more and more halal meat is coming under the guise of meat slaughtered humanely.

Parsley, with equal respect, the claim that 98% of supermarket meat is halal was spread on SM a while ago and has been debunked. As to the issue of halal meat more generally, most of it is actually pre-stunned anyway. From the article I posted:

"Whilst it is a legal requirement to stun animals before slaughter, there is an exemption for Jewish and Muslim communities – all Shechita slaughter (for kosher) and 12% of halal slaughter is done without pre-stunning. Animals slaughtered for halal meat can be stunned using an electrical method that produces reversible narcosis"

Surely only the meat labelled and sold in the ‘halal meat’ section of the supermarket is that. I hope so.

Morning Everybody. I have found a section of Mumsnet where I am at ease . People do not attack my Grammar, Comprehension or Sentence Construction here.

I have created another thread in AIBU about how great the Northern Ireland Education system is, due to the fact the Grammar System was not destroyed. I argue that the 'Troubles' meant the left wing never got round to destroying yet. However, now Sein Fein et al lefties want Grammar Schools gone.

Surprise Surprise, someone who does not believe in selective education has decided to attack my posts, This with sarcastic comments about my writing skills not benefiting from a Grammar School education.
