A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙* *

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

It looks like Streeting has set out his stall for any leadership bid. They do drag it on with this stuff.

Morning everyone.

I think there's some sense in him waiting. Streeting has only just become the bookies favourite to replace Starmer again. Betfair had him at 17.1% in November compared to 11.8% in October. Rayner is second, 10.7% above Burnham 9.9% - he was riding high in October at 18.1%.

Interesting, it looks like a tussle between the left and right of the party. Idk who would get it given the backbenchers and their support.

Triff.

Let them fight it out.

Thank you, @TheNuthatch. Very topical cartoon. I'm not sure too many people had cottoned-on to Labour's very real assault on democracy, but the message seems to be getting through now.

Yes, hopefully the continued division and fighting in the party might frustrate the radical drive to tear everything down in the shortest time possible.

What I found worrying about that thread that was hauled down yesterday about the possibility of Labour delaying a general election was there was a noisy cohort who seemed to think that - even if the poster were correct - that it would be perfectly fine for Labour to do so and that and those who would be concerned about such a move must naturally be Brexiteers.

It was very weird. These are completely different questions and the only way they could be considered to occupy the same space on a venn diagram would be through some morality lens of what is a good thing to be worried about and what is a bad thing to worry about.

Like I said yesterday, I'm don't think anyone could delay a general election. But it was concerning to see that there are people out there on the left, who have come to frame democracy as a talking point for the right/ wrong minded. Hopefully, it is just a handful of idiots but the idea that this is being set up as the new identity axis for supporters to prove their faith in the party is new to me and hopefully won't get any traction.

Labour supporters on here, those that still are that is, will support anything from their party. Really.

Thankfully they are looking like a minority when it comes to the electorate.

redange · 22/12/2025 10:03

Good Morning, everybody thanks, Dancing Ferret for the Heads up for thread 24. I will post something soon no doubt..

redange · 22/12/2025 10:07

So if you are old fashioned 'Left' Labour you are regarded by Party Members to be on the 'Far Right of the Party' . If you would have been on Derek Hatton's team and in Millitant Tendency, you are now a 'Centrist'

Yes, these supporters do seem intent on proving their elevated worth by alliegence to fantastical fringe beliefs and then scratching their head in confusion that they aren't winning hearts and minds. But, I guess I thought there'd be a few things that were beyond the radicalisation shit stick, like democracy. But then I should have learnt my lesson when they turned sex into language play.

Mn is frustrating for this. Labour acolytes excusing that is very poor. Tg for this thread.

Tg pretty much everyone else would go nuts over it.

I didn't post on it so didn't see where it ended up or when and why it got the axe. I just read the first few pages in despair and then went out to the shops.

I’d like to know exactly why it was taken down too. Reason given by MN was that it “broke Talk Guidelines”.

The old ‘net beneficiaries’ crowd…

Amusing that they make themselves out to be morally superior, all whilst taking the Starmer shilling.

Upstartled · 22/12/2025 10:37

Isn't it funny that while Mahmood is rallying to control immigration, that Labour have installed Stephenson who lobbied the government against 'smashing the gangs' to replace of Falkner who was noisy about the judicial system blocking the deportation of criminal migrants.

It's an odd pincer movement where they get to look like they are being strong on immigration at the public end and are undermining their own ability to be strong on immigration from a public body they can pretend to have little to do with.
