We have a new hero in Troy Parrott placemats really hope they can qualify.

I thought I was the only person on this thread old enough to recognise a Frank Zappa reference.

I'm not old enough but I do have the album!

I have to set the heating thermostat for 18, overnight, when it's like this. DS2 will not wear more than one layer on top and the house gets very cold, very quickly, if we let it.

LittleBowSheep · 19/11/2025 12:43

We had a mix of sleet and snow overnight but too wet to settle. There's likely to be snow further up the mountain though.

My house is currently undergoing renovations care of the Welsh Government. The render has been removed so the house is colder than normal.

PandoraSocks · 19/11/2025 13:05

It is a bit cold to be without your render @LittleBowSheep ! Hope the renovations go well.

Hope all goes well & you really feel the benefits very soon🫰

Reform's defence; it was a long time ago, people could mis-remember

Does that apply to Farage too?

OP posts:
PandoraSocks · 19/11/2025 14:05

One could accept Farage's claims about youthful folly, misremembered etc. if he had changed his ways. But he hasn't. He might not be quite as blatant about how he approaches things, but the bigotry is still there.

cardibach · 19/11/2025 14:20

Exactly @PandoraSocks. If he was vehemently anti racist now I’d say he had a change of heart as he grew up. The fact he’s a veiled racist makes me inclined to think a) he did say outrageously racist things as a teen and b) he’d say them now if he could get away with it.

When I looked a5 the weather earlier it said 5, feels like -3. That’s just spiteful. 5 is cold enough without pretending to be worse! My heating has been on for almost 2 hours and the liv8ng room isn’t yet 18. This is not a liveable temperature.
I hate the cold and don't do well mentally when it’s chilly.

Will come back and keep reading, but when my heating was not heating the whole house- upstairs was hot, radiators were hot, but rest of the house was cold- it turned out after many visits and an engineer who knew what he was doing, that the pump speed needed changing.

It's been OK since.

cardibach · 19/11/2025 14:41

It’s not a heating issue @LlttledrummergirI. It’s a stupidly cold day issue. It’ll be ok this evening but it’s really hard to get the temp up in the mornings.

That's interesting as it is like a sauna in the upstairs part of our house but cold in the lounge and dining bit.

BIossomtoes · 19/11/2025 15:00

Misremembered? By several independent witnesses? Yeah right.

BestIsWest · 19/11/2025 15:01

When we had the same issue our gas engineer took the thermostats off all the downstairs radiators. He had some strange theory about water having a memory and avoiding certain radiators. No, I never understood it but it did the trick.

Water having memory sounds a bit Waters of Mars to me. Scary.

Isn't that what homeopathy is about?
