I try not to tbf but it’s in the independent and mentions the smashing of the Overton window - tbh I can’t disagree with that statement although I have the opposite view on it being good.

Add MTG to the mix and it all makes your head spin.

How will this be defended? Especially from those who say that Starmer should have left school when it became private.

"Deeply shocking" ?

To who ?

bombastix · 18/11/2025 16:08

Not surprised at all, heard some of this before… and tbh it’s very public school. I still remember people like this from school, college, the City. They make it a big game. Farage is one of those. The idea of the game is if you aren’t white that you suck it up.

In part this is why I don’t really think racism has ever disappeared in the UK. I cannot write the things I have heard over the years when well to do people feel un constrained as it would get me deleted. It is a joke really. If you have enough money or prove yourself a useful lickspittle then these types are polite. But like you or respect you… no

bombastix · 18/11/2025 16:09

“Amusing”, “interesting” and “refreshing”.

These are not compliments

And women have never achieved anything near equality.

And as for the disabled 😠

Well that’s an unpleasant read…

Reselling tickets to live events for a profit is set to be banned by the government.
Ministers are expected to announce the plan in a bid to tackle touts and resale sites which offer tickets at several times' face value.

A great development.
Not that the posters who've had it in for Labour since before the election will give any credit for it

I was entertained by a comment from Viagogo who said it was bad because it would just mean tickets being sold 9n the black market with no consumer protection. Essentially -we rip people off safely. Leave us alone 🙄

There is no reason the artists could not have prevented resales if they cared.

SerendipityJane · 18/11/2025 16:44

Shame they weren't so worried about Russia

Also, isn't LinkedIn just for virtue signalling ? I mean have you seen that recruiting side ? More pants than Primark.

UK will not tolerate Chinese spying, minister says after MI5 alert

Politicians have been warned they are being targeted by suspected Chinese spies posing as "headhunters".

Karistyleaftea · 18/11/2025 17:15

@SerendipityJane I expect that the artists did not stop ticket resales for much the same reasons as the Patriotic millionaires do not pay more tax even though they are quite free to do so if they cared enough.

Disgusting excuse for a man.

Can you imagine if anything half as bad was unearthed about a Labour MP? It would be headline news across all the rags.

Quite. The sight of their bleeding little hearts wringing their hands was most unsavoury.

Acts that care about their fans have been preventing resale for years.

PandoraSocks · 18/11/2025 17:20

Farage's supporters won't care about that Guardian article.

Yes, but with NIgel Farage you would not only expect it, but require it. I mean the reform supporters are hardly following his fashion sense.

BIossomtoes · 18/11/2025 17:38

The Guardian article has made me feel quite sick. I’m not remotely surprised.

PandoraSocks · 18/11/2025 17:20

Farage's supporters won't care about that Guardian article.

Exactly - they'll just repeat the reform spokesperson line about the guardian picking on him.

It will probably make them love him more. I'm utterly sickened by it.

Maybe. But if they won’t, why can’t someone else?
If you bought a ticket and now can’t go, face value is enough. Anything else is profiteering.

The artists won’t get extra from resales.

I don’t think the answer to undertaxing millionaires is a few paying tax voluntarily though. It’s structural change.
