Agree. I have recently been diagnosed with a chronic illness and ds has a degenerative neurological condition.

I didn’t read it that way.

Having an illness does have an effect and living in war zones does have an effect.

So I wish people would back off disabled people and asylum seekers and appreciate what they have.

Yeah, I didn't read the meme that way either.

My DH has a rare degenerative neurological condition too (I occasionally wonder if your DS and my DH have the same condition). I would give anything for that not to be the case. Sorry to hear you are also facing issues. I worry about what would happen if I became ill.

PickAChew · 08/11/2025 13:26

My tax is this colour. It's been grey and dark all week and making this t-shirt in this glorious pinky purple was just the tonic.

I have ordered a coat in that colour.

Yes I've been recently diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder, psoriasis, which took up six weeks of my summer to finally get the proper treatment.

I have a disabled son, who's been incredibly helpful today.

My ds is a neuromuscular condition called hereditary spastic paraplegia. His gene fault is one of the rarest (estimated 1 in a million people).

It’s a form of upper motor neuron disease. Basically the nerves in his spine are degenerating so the messages get mixed up and he’s lost feeling in half of one leg, his muscles are wasting and he has spasticity.

Luckily it isn’t life threatening.

Sorry to hear your DH has a degenerative condition too. It’s hard knowing it’ll get worse and how but not any timescales of speed.

Thanks for the new thread- I’m a tax evader - I can manage emojis - sums up my experience of Labour now 🙄😡😯and occasionally 😀vary each day

itsgettingweird · 08/11/2025 15:00

I’ve been diagnosed with chronic cluster headaches. They are bloody painful but I’m on medication to try and break them 🤞

Thanks for the new thread. Little Tennyson was most outraged by the rain earlier this week. He flatly refused to go out and held me personally responsible.

Oh my goodness. I guessed right. That is my DH's condition too. It is a hard road. Much, much love to you and your DS.

Oh wow. What a very unlikely coincidence considering it’s so rare!

sending love back as it’s a small HSP world and it’s a condition many don’t get.

Isn't it! I have never met anyone outside of DH's family who has it. There is an HSP group on Facebook which I joined although I don't use it much tbh.

itsgettingweird · 08/11/2025 17:17

I am also on a FB page but don’t use it much.
I have posted to ask questions before though and usually answer questions re co morbid autism and baclofen doses (ds takes loads compared to most 🫣😂)

DS is de novo as there is no prior history in either side of his dads or my family.

Saucery · 08/11/2025 17:23

Dog Tax. Sums up his namesake city these days tbh 🙄

What are the odds, @PandoraSocks and @itsgettingweird ?

In all seriousness very low! It’s estimated 1:77,000 people have the condition!!!

love the dog!

Gosh, that is unusual. There is a long history of it in my DH 's family, although I think it was misdiagnosed in previous generations.

My DH takes the minimum of baclofen he can get away with as it makes him a bit zombified above a certain dose. It is a balancing act with medications!

Eta: I felt a little bit emotional when I read your post. It can feel a bit lonely sometimes as HSP is so rare and still not very well understood.

BIossomtoes · 08/11/2025 18:24

Original pinko commie slimeball reporting for duty. Gladys and Monty for tax.

Thank you so much for the thread Duncin. 💐

Absolutely it’s misunderstood.

Absolutely to lonely too and I think the lack of knowledge around it adds to that.

Ds takes 80-100mg of baclofen a day 🫣

@itsgettingweird and @PandoraSocks maybe you can be part of each other's knowledgeable support network, with the rest of us supporting from the sides.

I've been having a few health issues lately and have dates for diagnostic tests. The NHS are moving very quickly which is slightly overwhelming at times. They don't tell you much until they can confirm or rule things out which is discombobulating to my controlling instincts.

Anyway. Thank you for the new thread. I've pinched this one from ds2, it's somewhere near the top of Pen Y Fan.

Edited for capitals.

I’m so pleased to hear those are getting the support for health issues where needed. Long live our NHS 🤞
