Disgusting excuse for a man.

Can you imagine if anything half as bad was unearthed about a Labour MP? It would be headline news across all the rags.

Exactly & most of what’s in the guardian article has been doing the rounds for a long time the media/journalists mostly appear to ignore it looks like Reform are joining the conservatives in being held to much much lower standards than Labour.

PandoraSocks · 18/11/2025 18:52

There is far more fuss still about Rayner's "scum" comment.

Farage is lower than vermin as a wise man once didn't quite say. Apologies to vermin everywhere.

Karistyleaftea · 18/11/2025 19:09

@cardi I'm not saying that a few more quid from a few more millionaires would sort us out just that people often say a lot but actually do very little to change anything in reality.
As for the artists, I know they would not benefit from stopping resales but they are happy to keep their labels and execs happy so don't necessarily feel the urge to change anything. Meanwhile hard working people pay more.
I think it is great that Labour have made this change.

itsgettingweird · 18/11/2025 19:38

I read the tickets thing as the same way as them abolishing the bulk buying of driving test slots.

It’s to stop bots buying bulk (rather than an individual re selling because they can’t attend) and then selling g higher cannot in the case of driving tests having to buy an app to get an earlier slot.

if that’s the case and they can do it - I’m all for it.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 18/11/2025 19:54

If the election for the next thread is still undecided I'm definitely for Team Hamster.

Again, it was in the power of the artists to prevent block booking. Hardly rocket science.

But if they choose not to, we should just allow it? But of an odd stance, Jane.

I think I've found Britain's youngest Starmer lookalike, c/o my Google news feed.

So pleased for Scotland, @derxa.

PandoraSocks · 19/11/2025 09:10

Yes, good for Scotland!

PandoraSocks · 19/11/2025 09:13

Has anyone had snow today (not the Tommy Robinson sort 😄)?

BIossomtoes · 19/11/2025 09:14

No, we very rarely get any here, even when the rest of the country does.

DuncinToffee · 19/11/2025 09:17

Rain has turned into some kind of snow here

PandoraSocks · 19/11/2025 09:22

It is sunny here, but really cold.

DuncinToffee · 19/11/2025 09:24

I am glad I am not out at the moment, it's blizzardy Brew

It looks like a rate cut is pretty certain next month. The Telegraph has managed to spin this as bad news as usual - Inflation higher than expected as Reeves prepares to raise taxes.

Bit confused by the "inflation falls by less than expected" framing.

CPI came in bang on consensus in RTRS poll, and exactly as BoE expected. Obviously a poll elsewhere that said differently... but why go for the wrong one when you can pick and choose?

Not as interesting a story I guess!

I get a Telegraph email everyday because I once signed for a week's worth of free access. I haven't unsubscribed because the relentless doom mongering is often amusing. One of today's offerings:

It’s a sobering way to start the day, with a review revealing the true extent of Britain’s inability to defend itself against an invasion. A declining military headcount and severe financial turbulence mean the Armed Forces are underequipped to deal with growing foreign threats. Tom Cotterill, our Defence Editor, reports.

Because it's a sticking plaster over corporate greed. And the real story is not "good news for fans" which the media were more than happy to distract with. The real story is "yet another total market failure half heartedly tinkered with whilst utilities and service providers allowed to carry on."

And yet they constantly criticise tax rises - how else do they think defence is going to be paid for? And of course there’s this from 2021:

The Secretary of State for Defence, Ben Wallace, announced on March 22 that the army will be reduced to 72,500 by 2025. This is set out in the Defence in a Competitive Age command paper.

This means the existing target of 82,000 personnel, set in 2015, has been scrapped.
