And lastly not so much a sweet.. Lucky bags they promised so much and delivered so little.

Huh?? What an odd child you were!!

🤣🤣

I can't think of any in particular as I'd have just avoided them & wouldn't remember them.

I only discovered I didn't like them once I tried them
Nippy sweetie.😃

Pear drops

DeSoleil · 30/05/2025 17:12

Murray mints. Forever associated with long car journeys before some motorways were built and mother gave them to us to suck to prevent car sickness. There were four of us in the back, at least two dogs and no seat belts and we also bounced around and I’m convinced the Murray mints actually made us feel worse!

@Lindajonesjustcantlivemylife

too many wronguns' on this thread keeping you company. I'm going to have to hide it, like @SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius my diabetes prevents me from enjoying sweets these days, so I can't rescue all the unwanted ones 😥😥

Lindajonesjustcantlivemylife · 30/05/2025 17:14

I liked them all pretty much, I didn't like those strips of dusty rubbery chocolate things, nor did I like liquorice but I think I was ok with everything else.

Yay, another voice of reason!

Shame that you can't eat the actual stuff but do you have any recommendations for flavoured things? It currently seems to be my life's mission to track down decent liquorice flavoured teabags. I found some in Tesco the other day but they were infused with peppermint and way too sweet.

I've never liked any liquorice tea I've tried, they never taste right.
But I'm in Finland and so many things are flavoured with liquorice (some things which really shouldn't be, like reindeer salami sticks flavoured with liquorice - that was not right) or salty liquorice. I love liquorice sauce on ice cream, and Haribo does liquorice flavour roulette gummy sweets which are nice, don't know if they have them over there, only just noticed them here so perhaps they're new.

Natsku · 30/05/2025 17:16

Several mentions of pear drops. Now I like pear drops but unfortunately they don't like me - whenever I ate them I would cough uncontrollably. But I liked them so I still kept eating them despite coughing my lungs up.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 30/05/2025 17:17

Parmaviolets and those horrible white mice.

Mochudubh · 30/05/2025 17:17

Olde English Spangles

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 30/05/2025 17:18

Anything that wasn’t chocolate. I never liked sweets as a kid and still don’t now! I particularly hated the Rowntrees fruit pastilles that my mum bought when we went to the cinema. Hated the sugary crunch on my teeth. Ugh. I can still feel it now. All I wanted was a bar of chocolate!

DeanElderberry · 30/05/2025 17:18

parma violets and pear drops.

And kitkats are an abomination.

SirChenjins · 30/05/2025 17:19

Parma violets

marshmallowfinder · 30/05/2025 17:20

Foam bananas, blackjacks, black fruit gums, black jelly babies, lime boiled sweets, rock hard toffee.

notprincehamlet · 30/05/2025 17:24

Marathon
Chocolate brazils
Sugared almonds (are you supposed to like them?)
Turkish delight
Liquorice of any kind
Anything animal-shaped (in training to be vegetarian)

AmberKoala · 30/05/2025 17:25

Goodfellows. They were very strange.

FinallyHere · 30/05/2025 17:26

I could manage any sweets

used to bite the ends off liqueur chocolates to let out the runny fillings before eating the chocolate shell.

sigh.

Daisychainsandglitter · 30/05/2025 17:27

Parma violets- dreadful!
also didn’t like the white chocolate buttons with hundreds and thousands on the top.

Skandar · 30/05/2025 17:29

You're all just listing all my favourite sweets.... Confused

Vates · 30/05/2025 17:29

Aniseed balls, anything mint flavoured (apart from spearmint, love spearmint things!), watermelon flavour anything (hate the actual fruit too) and those fizzy 'belts' sweets (literally make my teeth ache).

User14March · 30/05/2025 17:30

Texan bars

User14March · 30/05/2025 17:31

Taxi bars - not solid enough wafer.

TheGhostOfPatButcher · 30/05/2025 17:32

Spanish gold. Disgusting!

BluebellCrocus · 30/05/2025 17:34

I agree about parma violets and sweetie necklaces/watches.
I love double lollies though
