IAmNeverThePerson · 30/05/2025 16:13

IAmNeverThePerson · 30/05/2025 16:14

I didn't like fruit Salads or anything tutti fruiti flavoured, wasn't keen on the coloured twisted marshmallows or foamy type things except banana foams. Hated the candy necklaces and bracelets and Turkish Delight can still get in the bin today.

Disturbia81 · 30/05/2025 16:16

Parma violets
liquorice allsorts
peanut mnms
those jelly sweets that tasted like soap
cheap smarties you got in fairgrounds/seaside in shaped plastic
flying saucers
coconut mushrooms

lousandjays · 30/05/2025 16:17

Clove rock my mum loved them

franke · 30/05/2025 16:17

Didn't much like Topic bars (hazelnut in every bite) or anything with nuts really.

carkerpartridge · 30/05/2025 16:17

Fruity Polos - they always stuck together

ClaudiaNaughton · 30/05/2025 16:18

Soor plooms, marzipan, anything nutty

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 30/05/2025 16:19

I had a very sweet tooth as a child, so there wasn’t a lot I didn’t like.

That said, I thought Wagon Wheels were far too sickly, and the fruit flavoured, boiled sweet type polos were just a waste of a sweet. And there was a sweet that mum always got in Pick and Mix - an oblong fruit flavoured sweet with a hard shell and a liquid filling - I can’t remember what they were called, but I never liked them!

Natsku · 30/05/2025 16:20

Struggling to think of a sweet I didn't like! Loved the oft-hated parma violets and blackjacks.
I've never been keen on sweets that are very sour. And there's these sweets in Finland we'd sometimes get on holiday while visiting people that are rowenberry flavoured jelly sweets. The first one was alright but if you had any more they got worse and worse.

Creu · 30/05/2025 16:22

Jelly babies. Disgusting little things and those fruit jellies too. Anything of that kind of consistency makes me feel like I want to vomit

LaBelleSauvage123 · 30/05/2025 16:23

Barley sugars - associate them with car sickness. Chocolate limes. Cream centred chocolates - orange, strawberry or coffee.

Guardin · 30/05/2025 16:24

Rolos

BluebellCrocus · 30/05/2025 16:27

I liked most of them. Fisherman's Friend maybe!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 30/05/2025 16:27

This thread is really making me want a big bag of sweets - all my favourites in one go! But buggering T2 diabetes says no, so I will just have to dream. 😂

marshmallowpuff · 30/05/2025 16:28

Dolly mixtures
liquorice allsorts
wine gums
chocolate limes
barley sugar
those hard gums with sugar frosting on - does anyone remember what they were called?

Kathbrownlow · 30/05/2025 16:28

My mission in my childhood was to eat as many sweets as I possibly could - I can't think of anything I wouldn't have eaten. Some I liked more than others but none got left.

Moanycowbag · 30/05/2025 16:28

Black Jacks/Liquorice Allsorts or anything Liquorice
Aniseed Balls
Jazzies
the little chocolates that were in a tiny foil case like a miniature cupcake but they were really cheap waxy chocolate that tasted like dog chocolate drops.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 30/05/2025 16:29

Flying saucers
XXX strong mints
Chocolate limes
Those gobstopers that had a weird spicy taste in the middle.

It's hurting my soul a little to see all the liquorice hate though, it's one of my life's great joys 💓.

Liquorice is wonderful. Sadly I have coeliac disease now so can't eat proper liquorice and the gf versions usually have the wrong texture but I make do with liquorice flavoured things.

MoominMai · 30/05/2025 16:33

I only really disliked Pear Drops which to this day just taste of medicine! And like a PP those blue bobbly jelly all sort monstrosities - bleurgh!

Yay, another voice of reason!

Shame that you can't eat the actual stuff but do you have any recommendations for flavoured things? It currently seems to be my life's mission to track down decent liquorice flavoured teabags. I found some in Tesco the other day but they were infused with peppermint and way too sweet.

Pelicanos · 30/05/2025 16:39

HATED and still hate

Turkish delight
Jellied fruits
Barley sugar
Butterscotch
Chocolate limes
Candy floss
Foam sweets
Boiled sweets
Marzipan
Nougat
Anything with nuts like Topic
Parma violets
Bubblegum
Flying saucers

Just mentioning because so many people have said they hated them, I LOVED and still love aniseed balls, aniseed twists, pear drops, liquorice, wine gums, blackjacks fisherman’s friends etc
