Always found white chocolate mice sickly and also hated flying saucers and watermelon flavour jjolly ranchers!

siucra · 30/05/2025 16:41

Parma violets. Every type of foul. It's a bad sweet that children can't eat.

BluebellCrocus · 30/05/2025 16:27

I liked most of them. Fisherman's Friend maybe!

I bought those with my sweetie money from the icer thinking they were a new sweet 🤮

I once got a sherbet flying saucer with a dead fly in it, last one I ever had…

I never found a dead fly in one ( thankfully!) but they were horrible sweets. So dry and plastic tasting.

Legolady2 · 30/05/2025 16:47

Send me your Parma violets and flying saucers. I still buy flying saucers in the petrol station. Parma violets I can’t get here so always stock up when I’m back I. The UK.

Parmaviolets

Exactly what I came on here to say! Revolting.

Also Fry's Turkish Delight.

Parma Violets
Spangles

I love a Parma violet. Can’t remember if I like them as a kid but I know I hated spangles.

OneWildNightWithJBJ · 30/05/2025 16:50

Parmaviolets, although I didn’t know that’s what they were called until this thread! Black Jacks, liquorice and cigarettes. Oh and Turkish delight.

BangersAndGnash · 30/05/2025 16:52

Pear drops
Cherry lips
Chocolate limes
Some cracknell thing
Marzipan
Jazzies
Milk gums

I had a very sweet tooth as a child, so there wasn’t a lot I didn’t like.

That said, I thought Wagon Wheels were far too sickly, and the fruit flavoured, boiled sweet type polos were just a waste of a sweet. And there was a sweet that mum always got in Pick and Mix - an oblong fruit flavoured sweet with a hard shell and a liquid filling - I can’t remember what they were called, but I never liked them!

Fruit bonbons.

Great wrappers, and shaped like a little bar but with rounded ends

BloodyHellBob · 30/05/2025 16:58

There are so many sweets on this thread that I loved as a kid! However, chocolate limes were, and remain, absolutely rank.

Middleagedstriker · 30/05/2025 15:54

Black jacks
Liquorice
Extra stong mints/imperial mints
Curly wurly
All boiled sweets
Coffee ones in the ones that were like minerals but all different.
Unfizzy cola bottles (why?!)

I don't recall meeting anyone ever who likes coffee flavour Revels🤢

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 30/05/2025 17:02

I love coffee flavoured revels, @Devilsmommy - pleased to meet you! 😉😘

Nice to meet you too even if you are a coffee revel loving weirdo 🤣

Black jacks

Yes, who the hell liked those? They’re like satanic suppositories. Ugh.

Also hated Silver Mints, rhubarb and custard sweets, white chocolate, Juicy Fruits, pear drops, liquorice, candy floss, and those strawberry shoelaces.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 30/05/2025 17:03

BangersAndGnash · 30/05/2025 16:57

Yes!! That’s them, @BangersAndGnash - thank you.

I loved them! (Still do.) But not with dead flies.

TwoTabbyCatsLife · 30/05/2025 17:05

Child of the 60s here, and as a previous poster said, it’s hard to think of a sweet I didn’t like. A few notable exceptions are chocolate limes, marzipan and the (now thankfully forgotten) Jap Desserts.

AndStand · 30/05/2025 17:07

Parma violets
Pear drops

Huh?? What an odd child you were!!

🤣🤣

I can't think of any in particular as I'd have just avoided them & wouldn't remember them.

Gonksmum · 30/05/2025 17:07

Anything banana, spearmint or liquorice. Also, dolly mixtures, Victory Vs or Fisherman's Friends (70s version!), wasn't mad about fruit gums or sweet cigarettes. Hated Arctic Roll too!

GroovyChick87 · 30/05/2025 17:09

Love Hearts, Refreshers, Parma Violets. I hate the texture and find them boring and unsatisfying. I love chocolate and did as a kid but it used to give me a raging thirst every time I ate it.

Todaysworldandbiscuits · 30/05/2025 17:09

Another vote for horrible parma violets & jazzies
Nasty white chocolate mice
Black Jacks (liked the fruit salad version)
Liquorice alsorts
Anything aniseed
Fruit gums (fruit pastels were far superior)
Jolly ranchers
Cherry anything
