Ugh. Didn't go out. I let the dc nap late. They just finished baths and dinner. I folded clothes and put them away. Made a peach pie which just came out of the oven. Cleaned up. Washed kitchen floor. Dishwasher is on. Maybe I should put another load of laundry on.... it'll save me a task tomorrow. 🤔

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 03/09/2025 06:32

oooh peach pie! Sounds good.. I have a load of frozen strawberries in my freezer so might make strawberry tarts for pudding.

So please that your PILs are settled @SingleThreadJoiner2

Hope everyone has a great day!

petalpower · 03/09/2025 08:40

That’s great news about your PIL @SingleThreadJoiner2 ! What a relief for you all.

SpiritOfEdna · 03/09/2025 14:14

hello, back home last night and straight into work today! I've swung from never again to looking at when I can go and do a little bit more. The only task I have today is to get my washing done and that is in the machine and all my hiking stuff is put away. SpiritDoggo is being a VelcroDoggo today and she is flat out next to me..

I definitely need to book in a haircut and my poor feet need some tlc. I am going to go and read back and see everyone's news.

Peridot1 · 03/09/2025 16:59

Welcome back @SpiritOfEdna! Are you pleased you did it?

SydneyCarton · 03/09/2025 17:14

DD2, who is 9, decided to make herself an Eton mess last night for pudding (she made it in a glass and layered everything properly, it was very good!) so while she had the pack of strawberries out I decided to wash and chop them all and put them in a Tupperware box for easy snacks.

Today I returned a swimming costume that didn't fit and posted two Vinted parcels.

DD1 had her first day at Big School today - I consider it a win that she came back with every item of the ruinously expensive uniform intact Hmm - so she has a treat meal of an M&S lasagne. Chilli and rice for the rest of us, and I suspect another Eton mess for DD2 as there's one meringue nest thingy left. Might have a beer 🍺

WinterFrogs · 04/09/2025 07:13

Morning! What a relief @SingleThreadJoiner2 I wish you all well, and glad the proximity of PIL will take some of the strain.
@mumofoneAloneandwell I agree with @Peridot1 - cutting out sugar gives terrible withdrawal symptoms so it is best to eat more of the good stuff like eggs/veg/ meat till that's passed and then think about calories if you're going to. Speaking from bitter experience. I find i don't need to think about calories as long as I'm not eating too much sugar or uhp. I hope you are feeling ok.

I have not booked the cat in. Chop chop made me laugh @Peridot1 My mum used to say that. I will do it online and it'll take 5 minutes max. The second I press post - brownies honour!
I've just done it. Today at 4! I need to be more 'Do It Now' so I did. Go me 😊

You made me chuckle with your tea towels making you very Homes and Gardens @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia

I am off to do horse things in a bit, and then a day at home with a mix of personal and work admin ( I seem to have accrued a lot of emails which need addressing) Before i go i intend to put the shower curtain and a couple of towels on to wash.

I must get up! Best wishes to everyone!

Hello everyone, thanks again for everyone's well wishes. I'm not on here as often as I would like but it really does mean the world to me that you are all thinking of me ❤I hope everyone is enjoying / has enjoyed their holidays and and something positive has happened for you all.
Yesterday I attended a reiki session. I'm not sure if I believe all the energy and charkas stuff as I haven't really looked into it. However, I was wrapped up in a nice warm blanket, lay down and did nothing for over an hour in a calm room with relaxing music and incense burning whilst a lovely woman spoke softly and kindly to me. It was amazing and I felt so calm afterwards. It's been 10 weeks since DH became unwell and I have not felt calm at all during this time so it has been nice and I hope I can feel this way for a couple of days at least.
I had a nice long lie this morning. I still feel exhausted but I know I'll feel guilty if I sleep in longer. So I've made a list with a few small jobs on:

  • Open savings account
  • Find medication - apparently I've collected it from pharmacy but I can't remember doing so
  • Sort paperwork & insurance for DH flat
  • Make appointment to get my nails done
  • Buy soup pot
  • Do online food shop

I'm working this afternoon but hopefully I'll tick all of this off before then

Peridot1 · 04/09/2025 11:04

Morning all.

Your Reiki session sounds lovely @autumnangel. Just what you needed I’d say.

@WinterFrogs - glad you’ve booked the cats in. It’s funny the way we put off stuff that takes minutes. Then it becomes a nagging chore. I do it a lot. Most recently with claiming on health insurance for chiropractic treatment. DH has been nagging me so I’ve just delegated by sending the invoices to him! And he’s done it in minutes. Along with the receipt for my dental hygiene apt from yesterday.

I love Eton Mess @SydneyCarton. Glad DD survived her first day at big school.

I have been plodding away at my long list. Did one side of kitchen counters and window sill yesterday. Plus usual other jobs.

Today:

  • laundry
  • dishwasher - done
  • order lampshade for new lamp - done
  • clean other side of kitchen
  • vacuum and wash utility room floor
  • tidy utility room
  • wash down two kitchen cupboard doors
  • walk
  • arrange return of a lampshade I picked up yesterday which didn’t work on lamp

Have a good day all.

WinterFrogs · 04/09/2025 11:42

That's beautiful @autumnangel My goodness - only ten weeks since he became ill. I am so sorry - no time at all for coming to terms with his passing.
Reiki is lovely! I'm not certain of the chakra stuff either, but I agree with you about the relaxing effect.

Sending a hug to all who need one ☕️ 🍰

Ah @Peridot1 that sounds like my kind of delegation!

I have SO much to do today that I'm struggling to focus enough to start. So I have done all sorts of bits and bobs that aren't vital and still have a pit in my stomach regardless all the actual important stuff.

I think what I need is a mind map. I find them soothing and very helpful with productivity.

I love eton mess too @SydneyCarton Ok if we all come to tea?

SpiritOfEdna · 04/09/2025 15:09

@Peridot1 - I am very glad I did it, although I think my itinerary could have done with a few tweaks with a break day in and not having to be in a different place every day! I guess I was walking for 8 hours everyday and some of it was mind numbingly boring and then difficult in terms of walking surfaces and climbs and also in the baking heat, but it was a challenge I set myself, so I should be proud of myself. By the third day I could remind myself to stop and take a look around and lift my head up from looking where my feet were going and it was, undeniably, very peaceful as I was on my own mostly. My noisy old brain was definitely quieter.

Yum to Eton Mess, thumbs up to PIL being closer and reiki massages x Have a good rest of the day, SoE.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 04/09/2025 16:37

Hey everyone

I caved and bought coke zero. Not had any other sugar though

Thank you @WinterFrogs and @Peridot1 - the sugar withdrawal is easing today

Ive had a lazy day which has also made me feel better

@autumnangel reiki sounds lovely and peaceful. Is it a regular thing or a one off?

@SingleThreadJoiner2 glad you're able to relax now without worrying about the distance

Hope youre all well everyone. I might make a beef curry for dinner 🍂🤎 xxx

Mumtobabyhavoc · 04/09/2025 16:45

My tip for getting off pop is plain strong tea for the caffeine fix, alternately over ice with lemon and Perrier to sip for the fizz. ☺️

(12 more posts til our thread is full, btw)

mumofoneAloneandwell · 04/09/2025 16:52

@Mumtobabyhavoc i was literally craving it, i had to get dd and drive us to the nearest tesco 😭

I don't drink any tea or anything, just orange squash, which is shite in comparison 🙈

I've been known to do that for chocolate. Fizzy drinks don't do anything for me fortunately. Coffee, water and the occasional green tea round here

Who's going to do the next thread?

Cat's been vaccinated. In and out in ten mins, no impact on my bank balance either as he's on a monthly plan which includes flea stuff, wormers and flea treatment.

Two loads of washing line dried 🥳

And cleaned washing machine drawer and filter. Found 20p so today's a win!

I have a plan to Get Organised. I have spent a lot of this year being overwhelmed. A couple of important and urgent jobs got ticked off my admin tasks and that's eased the anxiety levels a lot.

I need to batch cook because i forgot to change the date of a frozen cat food delivery and had to remove food to fit it in the freezer. Cat just polished of the last of his 'junk food' as solace for going to the vet. Healthy food all the way now. For him at least.

Who else have we lost? 😢

Anyone else see this moon tonight?
We have a grey sky from wildfire smoke, though.

Daily Project round 7
autumnangel · 05/09/2025 08:12

A more productive morning was had here at chez angel yesterday than there has been for a long time. I managed to tick a few things off the list as well as applying for a credit card. I am going on holiday at the end of the month and had hoped to hire a car but unfortunately I was declined so will need to look into the car hire as I assume all companies would want a credit card, however, I’ve never done this before so I’m not sure.

On a whim I have bought myself a ticket for Lewis Capaldi in London in a fortnight. I will likely try and talk myself out of it 100 times before then but I’m determined to go. Will need to sort some flights and a hotel soon.

Tidied downstairs when I came home from work last night just need to hoover tomorrow and it is visitor ready. The same cannot be said for upstairs 🙈

Peridot1 · 05/09/2025 08:38

Sounds very productive @autumnangel. I think most car hire companies require a credit card. Well done on the Lewis Capaldi tickets.

Great pic @Mumtobabyhavoc. I didn’t notice the moon last night. We did have the most spectacular rainbow the evening before. A double but one was the brightest I’ve ever seen.

Got a few of my jobs done yesterday- usual plus finished cleaning the kitchen counters and window sills. Also wiped down another section of the doors. didn’t do utility room though.

Today:

  • kitchen general tidy plus dishwasher
  • laundry
  • change my bed
  • Utility room floor
  • dust coffee table and side tables in sitting area
  • nip to Waitrose to pick up a lampshade (ongoing saga trying to get a lampshade for a lamp I bought in FB marketplace)

Have a good day all.

Peridot1 · 05/09/2025 08:40

@SpiritOfEdna - it sounds great although yes I think a big part of it is to be able to just be peaceful and not try to do too much each day. You should definitely be proud of yourself. It’s a great achievement.

SpiritOfEdna · 05/09/2025 09:06

for when this one finishes
