Morning everyone and thanks for the lovely welcome. Here’s what I’m thinking for today:

Clean the stove and surrounding areas.

Clean inside the fridge.

Update the freezer inventory.

Putting away all the clothes in the bedroom floordrobe.

Clearing the bedroom surfaces — window sill and atop the drawers

Cleaning the toilets and bathroom sinks.

Wish me luck and have a good day everyone!

Peridot1 · 16/03/2025 10:44

That’s a big list @JingsMahBucket! Good luck with it.

Hi everyone - @Mumtobabyhavoc - you are as busy as always. Every time you mention steam cleaning I think I must do our sofas but I haven’t yet.

I didn’t achieve much yesterday. Did a bit of washing. Went to the garden centre for plants for the pots outside the front door. But I left them outside last night and we had a frost so might have killed them already. I bought primroses but they were indoors at the garden centre so not hardened off probably.

I also bought some house decor bits. I’ve ended up going down rabbit holes on Facebook of people going “thrifting” in the US. @Aria999 - I am so jealous of the huge thrift stores in the US! I’m not interested clothes but love all the home wares etc. Anyway I bought a gorgeous glass cake stand this week in a charity shop here and bought a few bits to “style” it. It looks quite pretty if I say so myself! So that’s my new hobby.

Nothing much planned today. Need to vacuum downstairs and clean the splashback behind the cooker. Also want to do a menu plan of some new meals as I’m so bored with what we currently eat. That might be it.

Have a lovely Sunday all.

WinterFrogs · 16/03/2025 13:34

Welcome to our little group @JingsMahBucket 💐

I'm still on a roll! I've moved a big sideboard and a chest of drawers and cleaned behind both. Dining room is finished! Everything has been cleaned. When I win the lottery I'll replace the carpet. In the meantime I need to beg borrow or steal a steam cleaner.

This has taken years, including the decluttering so I am very proud of myself. It still needs painting though, but it isn't too bad. Little projects really have been very worthwhile!
Have replaced a couple of battered old lampshades and a mat as well this week.
Washed shower curtain.
Now I intend to thoroughly declutter and clean the master bedroom. Large chest of drawers in there has gathered a lot of dust, and I can't remember when I last cleaned behind it.
I think HRT has kicked in, as I've had more energy this week than I have in the last couple of years.

I'm a little bit over excited about it all 😃

Best wishes to all 💕

Hello all! Back from
vacation late last night having narrowly avoided being snowed in at the Grand Canyon by fleeing a day earlier than planned, ahead of the storm. (All the roads from and to the area closed on Friday morning and looked like staying closed till Saturday).

Today will be sorting out the unpacking, going to the supermarket, watering the plants (if any survived) and doing laundry.

Aria999 · 16/03/2025 13:45

Awesome @WinterFrogs sounds like a big win! @Mumtobabyhavocyou are crazy productive, also I must get a proper stream cleaner! Hello @JingsMahBucket that's a list! Good luck! I often find with that kind of list I waste the whole day fretting about what to do first! I'm mostly a contributor to thrift stores @Peridot1, have never really looked at what they are selling (we have way too much stuff already) but the cake stand sounds lovely! Oh no @petalpower death to the ants! Ants are bad news!

Peridot1 · 16/03/2025 13:45

Well done @WinterFrogs - that all sounds very satisfying. Great to see your little jobs all paying off.

Peridot1 · 16/03/2025 13:46

@Aria999 - DH has already warned me a few times to please not buy back what we have already donated! We are usually more of a contributor too. And it would be easy to just buy tat for the sake of it but I’m trying to be discerning.

Peridot1 · 16/03/2025 13:48

Cake stand before and after. A couple of bits I bought yesterday but a few I already had.

Oh that is really lovely @Peridot1 ! I have a bit of a weakness for ceramics and candles so it's right up my street!

Your kitchen is lovely also- and with my most desired type of work surface!!

I am a mix of contributer and customer of charity shops. A few years back my mother visited from my home country and she came back all thrilled with her book finds at our local charity shop. 3 of the 5 books were books I had donated!

JingsMahBucket · 16/03/2025 17:45

@Peridot1 that is so pretty and a nice addition to your countertop. @WinterFrogs well done on your progress! I want to get deeper into decluttering after being in one giant cocoon for the past few months of winter. @Aria999 hello my fellow American! I live in the UK but miss NYC a lot.

As for my list, I got a lot done and a bit more that was off the list:

  • Clean the stove and surrounding areas. ✅
  • Clean inside the fridge. ✅
  • Update the freezer inventory.
  • Putting away all the clothes in the bedroom floordrobe. ✅
  • Clearing the bedroom surfaces — window sill and atop the drawers (Just the window sill ✅)
  • Cleaning the toilets and bathroom sinks. ✅
  • Took out the trash and kitchen compost ✅
  • Stripped the bed and aerated the bed/bedroom ✅
  • Put on new sheets ✅
  • Saved food from the fridge and into the freezer ✅

My body is tired and I'm finishing up making dinner. I made a nice ham and bean soup for dinner and the garlic bread is finishing in the oven now. After dinner I'm going to put my feet up and plan my week. I'm going to ride this energy wave all the way to bed!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 16/03/2025 18:05

I've just gotten back into bed. This cold is winning atm. Baby is lying across me, asleep. Havoc is watching Stuart Little and chatting to my mum. Thank God for my mum today. 😇

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 16/03/2025 18:17

Hope you feel better soon @Mumtobabyhavoc .

I sort of flopped today. I'm too tired to even make or eat dinner so DH brought the DCs McDonalds home after his bike ride. They can have ice cream sundaes for dessert if they are still hungry.

Tomorrow I have to sort out the food in the fridge that needs to either be eaten or freezered. Today I can't be bothered.

Good evening to all. Thanks

Aria999 · 16/03/2025 18:35

@Peridot1looks beautiful as does your countertop!

@JingsMahBucketI am an imported American, uk by birth but we moved here 2016 and I am a citizen. I had assumed from your username that you were Scottish!

get well soon @Mumtobabyhavoc!

macdonalds can be a life saver for us too @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia . DS will eat literally nothing in restaurants except chicken nuggets and often doesn't like those so we have taken to doing a Macdonalds run for him and otherwise just picking a restaurant we like!

RunningKatie · 16/03/2025 20:13

I'm here and checking in! I've had a nightmare of a bug that's not keen to leave me, so today I've scrubbed a bathroom floor and started clearing the pots at the front of the house then I've done very little else.
I have just ordered mothers day gifts, getting ahead for once!
DFIL is still in hospital, 4 months now, the prognosis is pretty bleak, MIL struggles to make any plans and has no interest in seeing the DC, it's too much for her. DH spends a lot of time going back and forth at a weekend as he can't during the week.
I'm determined to keep daily project'ing and checking in with you all more regularly.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 16/03/2025 22:15

Sorry to hear about your fil Katie. It's difficult for everyone. Not sure if you've mentioned, or I've forgotten, but is he close by?

WinterFrogs · 17/03/2025 07:27

Morning everyone. Lovely to 'see' you @RunningKatie So sorry about your FIL 😔
I missed your post on end of last page @petalpower Welcome home. Shame about ants and stinky bathroom though.

Please you made it home safely @Aria999!
Thank goodness for mum @Mumtobabyhavoc! I hope you feel better soon 💐
Waves to everyone else! 👋 Some good jobs jobbed!
I'm deep cleaning my kitchen today. There is a slight "aroma" which I hope was just the bin, but the oven needs a clean, and I haven't investigated the top or underneath the fridge freezer since last summer. Shouldn't take too long as there's not a lot of clutter now. And the gardener is coming today for a couple of hours, just to make a post-winter start before it all goes mad.

JingsMahBucket · 17/03/2025 07:28

@RunningKatie sorry about your in-laws. 💐 It also sounds like your MIL may be spiraling into depression about your FIL’s condition. I don’t blame her but the fact she’s refusing to even see other people would concern me. Is anyone able to relieve her from hospital duty so she has time to rest, recover, and do other things? Maybe she might be open to seeing the kids if she knows her “shift” is covered.

@Aria999 my husband is Scottish and we live in Scotland. You and I essentially swapped places! 😂

SpiritOfEdna · 17/03/2025 10:35

hello nice shiny new thread! there's lots going on so Flowers for all. I am in a can't be bothered mood today work wise after a very busy weekend so I really need to get my act together, so hoping a list will spur me into action

Today

  • the never ending desk tidy up
  • photos of the front of the house for the windows (I'm pretending they were not on last week's list) - I've promised the joinery firm all the details some time today, so must get on with it...
  • car needs a good hoover it is full of sand again
  • try and persuade the bank to send me a replacement debit card without freezing everything (It's been in the washing machine twice .......)
  • meal plan
  • house needs a good hoover as...... it's full of sand
  • handwash some jumpers
A very mundane list for me, but in between have managed to chase a load of work things and get myself into the right headspace for work. Have a good day, SoE
SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 17/03/2025 11:18

Hi all.

So sorry @RunningKatie about your ILs. Such a hard and difficult situation. Thanks

Also a 'not in the mood' day for me. But I did buy two nice looking storage open baskets for the DCs to put their school folders and notes in. I just got tired of the daily 'MUUUUUMMMMMM....... I CAN'T FIND MY ENGLISH FOLDER'.

Off to visit a lovely friend who is bed bound after an operation. Feeling a bit guilty actually I did not go last week. I've mainly texted her out of habit and should have called in. I am taking flowers and alcohol-free wine for her as she is on heavy meds.

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

SingleThreadJoiner · 17/03/2025 21:03

Hello all, I am as usual feeling inspired by your activities and ideas and as usual though I rarely put them into practice 🤣

Much solidarity to @RunningKatie we are having PIL challenges too, and they are four hours away, so H is alternating a week of remote working from their place when he can...

Oh oh but yesterday I meal planned for the week AND I weeded out some torn out magazine recipes which I am blatantly never going to make, so I think that counts!

Friendly waves to all 😊

petalpower · 17/03/2025 22:26

Sorry to hear about your in laws @RunningKatie . It just sounds a very difficult situations all round.
Impressed as ever by everyone’s achievements.
Today I’ve had to take my car to the garage as a spring on the suspension broke, hopefully getting fixed tomorrow. I’ve also:

  • dropped off dry cleaning
  • ordered flea and worm medication from the vets for junior and senior petaldogs
  • gone through three big crates of glass and china from my dad’s house, photographed, repacked and labelled it for storage and added various bits to the charity shop pile
  • bought items for a charity Easter hamper I’ve been asked to put together
  • realised that the smell in the guest bathroom hasn’t been sorted - maybe the shower rather than the sink?
  • conquered three baskets of ironing
  • paid deposit for home boarding for the dogs for a week in September
JingsMahBucket · 18/03/2025 09:59

Morning all, yesterday I was able to do a load of sheets laundry and ran some grocery errands. Today I'm only focusing on just folding the laundry up and meal planning. Last night I came down with a sinus infection so I'm not feeling at my best today but will try to power through on client work. That said, I've already ran the dishwasher this morning so that will need to be unloaded at some point today.

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 18/03/2025 10:06

Morning all. So far I have taken DS to the dentist and medicated the cat.

Today is a getting on top of things day really as I am behind with regular cleaning.

best wishes to all!

Peridot1 · 18/03/2025 10:45

@RunningKatie - sorry to hear of PIL issues. It’s not easy.

Hi to all.

Feeling a bit slow this morning as went to a pub quiz last night and stage up later than normal. And had too much wine. Well it was St Patrick’s Day! ☘️

Have done some laundry so far and helped DH put the supermarket delivery away. Have some laundry to fold and put away. Want to tidy and clean the utility room. And give the kitchen a good clean. And I have a large pile of ironing.

Today’s extra task will be putting the last of my unpacking away.

WinterFrogs · 18/03/2025 15:44

Hello! Some wonderful projecting going on! Boo to sinus trouble @JingsMahBucket 😔
Well my house is clean, but I've been carting round stuff in my car that's destined for the tip/recycling centre for two days...
Now to keep on top of my clean house ( it's never happened before 😆)
I still have some drawers and the larder to go. And clean the car. Once it's empty.

Ordered pet medication today. And before I post again I will have booked appointment for the cat.
Hope you are all enjoying some sunshine. Glorious here but a very cold wind!
