All welcome! Some of us join the chat, some are happy to stick to the remit of trying to achieve one small thing that'll stay done each day.
I have dusted a bookcase this morning, and I intend to get to the dining room windows later on.
Have a great day all 💐

Good morning! Showcasing a new (and slightly unwieldy) namechange!

(And maybe slightly hopeful for a lovely summer).

Thread 7!!

I may have to go back to the very small daily project aim for a while as I have been quite good with daily maintenance, but not really achieving anything new and have felt a bit sort of flat and low generally.

Today's project - plant out a window box I have on our gate- it has had saxifrage in it for the past year but that has struggled. In contrast another window box has had mixed violas that have just never stopped flowering for a good 9 months now. So I will plant violas in the other window box.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Peridot1 · 13/03/2025 08:53

Morning all.

Thanks for the new thread @WinterFrogs.

Thanks for the info on the moths @Mumtobabyhavoc. DH is hoping that as we are onto it earlier this year we might avoid a big issue. We are using sticky traps which trap the males and stop them breeding with the females. Our neighbours said that worked for them. I do have some bomb things to try too.

Extra task yesterday was descaling the kettle and giving it a bit of a clean and changing the filter. We are in a very hard water area.

Today is usual task is putting away stuff I’ve unpacked. And I have managed to get an appointment for a haircut this afternoon.

WinterFrogs · 13/03/2025 13:47

Ooh I like your new name and your planned project @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia

👋 @Peridot1 I am glad you had a lovely time!

I dropped a link on the last fred so I'm sure the troops will soon join us!

I was feeling all flat and stressed and overwhelmed, but spring is springing and I've come over all enthusiastic!

Trouble is I don't just have a list, I have a project book! And I want to do all the things all at once!!

Currently in a state of disarray where I rode off in all directions at once 😆

Goodness, where have the last few weeks gone? Thanks for the new thread @WinterFrogs . Life has run away with me. MIL’s 90th birthday, a really major event in my extended family that is too outing to talk about (headline news type stuff in a bad way), clearing my dad’s house etc. DH and I are now away for a few days in Paris having a break. Will definitely need to get back to the projecteering on my return.

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 13/03/2025 19:27

Hope you are okay @petalpower Thanks

WinterFrogs · 14/03/2025 06:48

Big hugs for you @petalpower 💕 I hope Paris is soothing your soul. What a lot you are dealing with!
Did anyone see the lunar eclipse? It's bright and clear and I was up early. It was interesting watching the moon go from full to an almost upside down crescent. Vaguely pink but not quite what I expected. Gorgeous morning ( frosty)

I am still motivated with my projects. I have a load of bedding in the machine, and I'm sitting up in bed doing some admin ( if booking appointments, tickets and tables counts?) Intending to get some old toot that DH is insistent on keeping up to a box in the loft today. He never looks at it but won't get rid. And I want to clean behind the sofa too.

Have a great day everyone!

Morning all.

Sending more hugs to @petalpower . I hope Paris gives you some peace and joy.

I did my planting of my pot yesterday and felt a real sense of accomplishment. Today I need to drill a hole into our wheelie bins and attach locks to them as we have a persistent fly tipper who tips things the council refuses to take which means trips to the tip for me. 😡

Hope everyone has a lovely day. Thanks

Peridot1 · 14/03/2025 09:05

Morning all.

Hugs to @petalpower. Sounds very stressful. I hope Paris is fabulous.

I didn’t get too much done yesterday. Got my hair cut and the heavens opened as I left the salon so I was a drowned rat by the time I got to the car.

I didn’t know there was an eclipse @WinterFrogs. Must keep an eye on things more. It was very frosty here when I woke up just after 7. Opened the curtains in the bedroom to see five deer out on the field at the back.

Usual tasks today. Also created a new one as was looking for something in a drawer last night and had to take everything out as couldn’t close drawer. So that lot all needs sorting and culling.

Also back at dentist this morning for next stage of implant.

Have a great day all.

WinterFrogs · 14/03/2025 12:21

I love a potting project @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia but it feels like the dark arts to me! But my garden is on my list. So you're having to padlock your bin closed? How frustrating 😔
Was your hairdo salvageable after the rain @Peridot1 ? I wear my hair very short so i can just wash and go, but it does mean the hairdresser more often than if it was longer.
I have deer envy. We had foxes and cubs last year though. And a hedgehog.

I'm having a bit of a cull of stuff today. Not my beloved's stuff, but things that have been around ages and I kept thinking that someone (family) might want it. But they come, they rummage and they leave, so it's going. I think mostly they don't miss it and they all have homes of their own and have forgotten what they've left here. See also: books I'm never going to read. I don't mean precious stuff, just odds and sods, wire and plastic, stuff half the time I don't even know what it is. Bye bye last of the clutter! 🥳
I have some painting to do so I need to go minimalist so I can reach the walls.

I'm writing a list of threes. Coffee in between each section.

Best wishes all round 💕

Thank you for including me again :) and hugs to @petalpower . Sometimes we forget people behind the screen have real lives with lots going on! 💕

@Peridot1 five deer sounds amazing! My H was at his parents' this week in the south-west and had a massive fox in the garden lolling about in the middle of the day. So brazen!

It's been a hard and busy couple of weeks, but I have a lot of lovely things to look forward to at the weekend, and much-needed dinner out with my two best friends, so I will focus on that.

Happy weekend, all!

Peridot1 · 15/03/2025 09:15

@WinterFrogs - my hair is fairly short too so it was ok. I just left it to do what it wanted to!

@SingleThreadJoiner - I love seeing the deer in the field. Less so when they come into the garden and eat my flowers! We often have a couple spend a few hours in the front garden where thankfully they can’t do much damage.

First load of washing for the day is in. Mattress and pillow protectors after a bed change yesterday. Have a few other bits of mine to do.

Hoping to get DS and DH to help get the boxes of Christmas stuff up into the attic. We didn’t get it done before I went away as DH had hurt his ankle.

Nothing much else planned today.

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 15/03/2025 09:21

I badly need a hair cut. I usually have a bob just below my chin but am really lazy about it. We have a big summer event in our town and that usually serves as my reminder to 'get my annual hair cut'. But Ive not done that since 2023. [facepalm] It's too long and split endy now. So I definitely need to get my act together.

I have very little planned for today. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

JingsMahBucket · 15/03/2025 09:34

Morning. Mind if I join your thread please? After the long dreary winter it feels like my brain is starting to wake up again. It feels like I can face decluttering and cleaning too. 🙂

Peridot1 · 15/03/2025 09:44

Of course you can @JingsMahBucket. We are a welcoming and chatty bunch.

The original aim of the threads as set up by @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia was to just get one extra thing done each day and that will eventually lead to less clutter and a more organised and relaxed household. Some of us just post about our extra task, some post a list. Some of us waffle on a bit! (That would be me!). Don’t feel you have to name tag or reply to everyone every time. That way madness lies!

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 15/03/2025 09:52

I'm definitely a waffler. Smile

I feel like you are all friends and I am very thankful to have the chance to whitter on as I don't have many IRL friends I waffle on to!

We love returnees and newbies and lurkers and everyone who wishes to join!

Aww same here @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia, wish I knew you all IRL

Me, too! 🩷

I just caught up, please forgive no specific tags, but am wishing everyone well. 😊

Celebrated Havoc's half birthday last two days with a visit to a special chocolate shop, a nice cake from a shop I had been meaning to try and a lovely afternoon of sledding after school yesterday morning. It's now spring break until April. Havoc is having a long nap today, so right now it just me and baby. We snuck a sliver of left-over cake and I had some ice cream with choc sauce, too. 🙈 Ok, and I'm still in pj's.
But, I finished the laundry. 😁
Vacuumed.
Baked a salmon and boiled up some casarecce, so dinner is sorted for later.
And I've re-watched the first three episodes of Suits LA. 😇
Oh, I've turned on the dishwasher, too! 💫

I really should wake Havoc, but I think I'll steam mop the floors first and maybe steam clean one of the strollers I've parked on the deck that has mold on it now. 🤦‍♀️
Funny how a wet stroller in the trunk of the car gets
moldy and doesn't self-clean on a deck in winter. 🤔

I hope everyone is having a nice Saturday night with a cup or glass of something lovely. 😊🩷

Mumtobabyhavoc · 16/03/2025 01:18

It only took an hour and I have:
steam-mopped/cleaned the floors, two area rugs, the door (outside and inside), a couch and both strollers!!!! 🥳
I forgot I had half a chicken pie in the fridge so have popped that into the oven. Havoc os still asleep, but I think has a touch of a cold, so I not disturbing. I woke up today feeling one as well.

Horror bedroom is still nagging, I have tonnes of mail to open, sort, file or toss, but damn the couch looks new. 😂

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 16/03/2025 03:05

Much achieved @Mumtobabyhavoc !

I am awake at 3 in the morning (again). But can't do anything useful as everyone is asleep. Might try and go back in a few moments with the electric blanket on as I am quite cold.

Tomorrow (today) I want to clean my wheelie bin out after reading a dog poo thread. And I still have not drilled those holes for the locks.

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 16/03/2025 03:07

Oh and I made a huge slow cooked ham last night. DH is vegetarian and the Dcs were disinterested so need to figure out what to do next. I already (still) have frozen pea and ham soup. I have some leftover puff pastry also so might make up little ham and vegetable in a white sauce pies and freeze them for some random time in the future.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 16/03/2025 03:08

Hi, Lobelia! Just finished dinner and the last of the cake here! 😛
Meant to add, you need a hot choc.

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 16/03/2025 03:24

Oooh hot choc! Good idea!

petalpower · 16/03/2025 09:46

Now back home from our trips away and it’s amazing how stuff just builds up in your absence! Adult DC were here on and off and did the basics but fail to notice plants that need watering or loo rolls replacing. We also seem to suddenly have ants in the morning on the kitchen worktops so I need to sort that. The guest bathroom sink was my extra job yesterday as it had a horrible smell, think it’s through lack of regular use so have poured down plenty of hot water and soda crystals.
No individual tags today but hope you all have a lovely day and that the spring sunshine is as beautiful for you as it is here.
