Wynne Evans - another “incident” re: Strictly

Mittens67 · 27/01/2025 13:55

Have just read that Wynne had made an inappropriate remark on the Strictly Tour last month and is now taking time off his radio show.
Having rather dismissed the hand thing on Strictly this year and speculation that there were issues between him and Katya I am now having a rethink.

He apologised afterwards but it's pointless, the fact he said it or thought it was OK to "joke" about tells us what type of person he is.

But with all the previous cover ups, as long as it's brushed over, covered up, excused, then it continues (often in plain sight) because the perpetrator either believes everyone finds it entertaining or funny, or thinks they are untouchable.

Tissuesandfluff · 28/01/2025 10:00

Same old same old response Inappropriate/joke/deeply sorry. It's all blah isn't it?

Girasole02 · 28/01/2025 10:00

I usually go to the Strictly tour but this year is the only time that one of the celebrities has been given their own performance slot with their own act and it was excruciating, even before this latest incident. I would imagine that people will now use Wynne's singing interlude as an opportunity to go to the bar or jump the queue for the toilets. I'd love to know what the other dancers and celebs really think of him but cannot say. I cannot imagine him endearing himself to the likes of Nikita, Kai, Johannes and the like. He's the sort of person you'd leave the room to avoid. Constantly 'on' and pulling focus. Sleazy into the bargain.

ThePolarBearWhoLostHisCrown · 28/01/2025 10:22

Another day, another creep.

He was recently promoting a programme with Joanna Page on The One Show. They appear to be great friends and I thought how can you stand working with him?

Watched it last night, and I'm afraid you now watch him on the alert for anything sleazy he might say, any signs of crossing a line...

He was clearly seasick, which may have toned him down a bit. It was also a rather dull programme because the producers had clearly put it together thinking their repartee and camaraderie would make a programme, but it was just going from one place to another and shrieking (Page) and making sad, seasick pronouncements (Evans). No enjoyment or information or, indeed, point was conveyed to the viewer.

I wonder if GoCompare have a clause in his contract about not bringing disrepute on the company? I wouldn't want to be his agent this month...

At least you'd never get this with those meerkats!

InSearchOfMartin · 28/01/2025 11:39

Well they have chucked him off the tour now.

She seems lovely but a bit dim. Not sure whether she'd believe he'd done anything wrong...

Bloom15 · 28/01/2025 11:42

He is just a vile creep

Utel · 28/01/2025 12:01

The fact that this is where his head went merely just standing close to a woman shows he has sleaze on the brain. It’s obviously become his style of humour. He really needs some sexual harassment training. Can’t help himself, the absolute creep.

Yes this. I am shocked at how many guys have mucky minds in the style of Carry On films, On the Buses and Benny Hill type shows. They weren't even funny in the 80s never mind now. And most of these guys weren't even alive when they were a thing so where is this mindset coming from?

Strawberrypicnic · 28/01/2025 12:11

I don't watch Strictly but couldn't stand him on MasterChef, so smarmy.

mandarinchocolate · 28/01/2025 12:12

InSearchOfMartin · 28/01/2025 11:39

Hooray!!!!

Itsalwaysfools · 28/01/2025 12:16

Good. There needs to be consequences to behaviour like this. No doubt though there'll be plenty of people siding with the poor men who can't even crack a joke these days.

Lentilweaver · 28/01/2025 12:22

He has blamed his mental health, of course. Funny how women carry the world on their shoulders and manage to not grope or perv at anyone.

Tissuesandfluff · 28/01/2025 12:50

Urgh his mental health my eye ! Is that what "they" are doing now blaming being sleazy on mental health.

HJ40 · 28/01/2025 12:50

Good. I haven't seen that he has blamed mental health, but speaking generally (and also thinking of e.g. Huw Edwards), it needs to become as morally repugnant to blame mental health as it would be to feign a physical disability.

Speaking from personal experience, until you've experienced a period or truly poor mental ill health, you don't know what it's like, and abusing the term makes it harder for others to understand. I'm ashamed of how my younger self regarded struggling colleagues in the past. It is not an excuse for unacceptable behaviour.

ThePolarBearWhoLostHisCrown · 28/01/2025 12:56

About time. They should have done it straight away. Hopefully we'll never have to put up with him on our screens again.

Tissuesandfluff · 28/01/2025 12:57

I have just read his brother has recently died and his strictly cast mates have been "mindful" of that etc etc. Still no reason to be sexually inappropriate towards a woman though.

Funkyslippers · 28/01/2025 12:58

Bluevelvetsofa · 27/01/2025 14:32

He should leave the tour, which will be over soon anyway and focus on his adverts.

He seemed OK on Celebrity Masterchef, but has done himself no favours on Strictly.

There's probably a reason why he came across ok on CM considering the company he was keeping!

HereBeWormholes · 28/01/2025 12:59

My BIL is like this - can't see women in any way other than as sexual commodities, the butt of crude jokes - not professionals, not colleagues, not bosses or doctors or dentists - and thinks he's a fine, funny fellow when making his tired old remarks... It's like he literally can't stop himself saying these things - they drop straight from the front of his brain and out of his gob, on a hotline form the 1970s... 🦕

I don't know how he hasn't been sacked yet - he does tend to 'move jobs' a lot...

Tissuesandfluff · 28/01/2025 14:10

It must be on their mind the whole time for it to just trip out their mouths so easily!

Indeed. Plenty of women experience poor mental health. Doesn't tend to get used as an excuse for leery, sleazy behaviour towards men though.

It will be his fragility, his marriage breakdown, death of his brother, stress...take your pick. Or it will be the inevitable ADHD or ASD diagnosis that can't be far away. Anything that means a grown man not taking responsibility for his own actions and words.

HRTQueen · 28/01/2025 14:17

Apparently the BBC are to make an announcement later today.

So once again until there is pressure from the public they are quite happy to turn a blind eye

its about time BBC management are removed again poor judgement around keeping viewing numbers and reputation being priority

LadyDanburysHat · 28/01/2025 14:34

The BBC have shown they have learned nothing from previous experiences. Why does it have to be on the front page of every tabloid to be dealt with.

Tissuesandfluff · 28/01/2025 14:34

Thing is strictly was supposed to have a shake up they had chaperones at training, I assume contestants and professionals had meetings about conduct and still you get sleazy men talking about gussets and spitroasts.
