Wynne Evans - another “incident” re: Strictly

Mittens67 · 27/01/2025 13:55

Have just read that Wynne had made an inappropriate remark on the Strictly Tour last month and is now taking time off his radio show.
Having rather dismissed the hand thing on Strictly this year and speculation that there were issues between him and Katya I am now having a rethink.

I wonder what the big cheeses at Go Compare are thinking right now.

How much money do we stand to lose? That will determine their course of action.

Girasole02 · 27/01/2025 17:36

I went to the Birmingham show and he made the gusset comments there too. It it reported that during the series he made comments backstage likening his double chin to a vagina and was reprimanded about that too. What does he have to do before he is sacked?

ScanningQRCode · 27/01/2025 17:37

I can't stand how the BBC trots out the line that these things 'will not be tolerated'.

They have been tolerated for decades and the BBc never seems to learn. Why wasn't GW sacked years ago? Why wasn't WE sacked yesterday? (Or even when the handsy incident happened- although the BBc worked so hard to say it was innocent- bullshit).

ExtraDisorganised · 27/01/2025 17:39

It was obvious Katya was uncomfortable with the waist incident, I decided he wasn't getting any more of my votes after that, but hoped it wasn't as bad as it looked and that Katya wasn't being forced to cover up.

This comment about Janette is appalling, they should chuck him off the tour and stop any future Strictly-related work for him. Poor Janette and Katya having to continue to work with him.

I also remember the year Gregg was in it, and Aliona's face when he was announced as her partner, thinly veiled horror, at the time I assumed it was because she knew he'd have no chance, but I wonder if she knew what he was like.

Am I the only one who had to look up "spit roast" ? wish I hadn't now!

You're not the only one, I didn't either. And if someone had said this around me I might not have known specifically how offensive it is. I do now though, I hope not to hear it in real life.

BatChops · 27/01/2025 17:40

I mean, its grim but I watched it and it really isn't quite what's being reported

They appear to be squeezing in for a photo or whatever and he moves slightly and says 'ha, spit roast!' - presumably at being so close together

No one complained and it was just a stupid comment. He didn't say ' god I really want to spit roast you!'

However having said all that, this is a bloke who must know he's skating on thin ice and he should know better tbh. Does it hint at someone of the same ilk if gregg Wallace etc? Yes probably

2025willbemytime · 27/01/2025 17:44

I'm no fan of JM, and it's said she didn't hear him, but what an awful thing to know it's been said about you. I've not seen any note of it but if you look at the still you can see the women in fronts facial expressions, they've heard him. JM husband asks if she's okay and she said yep, but I wish someone, anyone, would feel secure to pull people up at the time. Not victim blaming before you start, just a hope.

Or for him to learn himself he's out of order.

Youngheartsalittletogetherness · 27/01/2025 17:46

He's an idiot like Wallace decent gigs and on the way to fucking it up all because he can't behave like a normal human being.

Can you not see, given what it means, it is 100% out of order to ever say?

He knew what he meant it doesn't matter that he didn't say "I want to spitroast you " the phrase is disgusting and he shouldn't have used it. The context or "intention" doesn't matter.

notatinydancer · 27/01/2025 17:49

He really is a vile specimen.

LookItsMeAgain · 27/01/2025 17:55

Not sure what the comment was (I'll go back and read the thread) but he is coming across as a liability now isn't he?

Simonjt · 27/01/2025 17:55

If I said that at work during a group activity while I had my body pressed upto someone I would rightly be dismissed.

Lefthanddownnumberone · 27/01/2025 17:58

Poppychimney · 27/01/2025 14:39

What an appalling thing for him to say. He's a sleazeball and either stupid or arrogant with it - he made the remarks at a press call FFS - where journalists are filming and recording.

It looks like he's been suspended from his BBC radio show - I sincerely hope GoCompare cancel him too.

I'd put money on him playing the mental health card now.

I believe there is radio and video footage of him saying it ‘spit roast’ about a professional on the show and everyone else grimaces and looks disgusted.

There seems to be evidence to confirm allegations although I’ve not listened to it / its just gross.

Well yes, but why would you have your body pressed into a colleague at a works do?

We recently had a group photo on a tiny set of stairs, it was like we were playing a game of how many bodies can we fit in a mini. Despite lots of us being very drunk we all somehow managed to stay upright!

Girasole02 · 27/01/2025 18:03

The expressions from Kai and Montell say it all. They look as if they have distanced themselves from the rest of the group.

How much bad publicity are we prepared to take over this, more like.

crockofshite · 27/01/2025 17:58

People in a lot of jobs are in close proximity to one another a lot of the time, particularly in the performing arts industry. The performers on Strictly are at work. They have every right to expect to be protected from harassment of any kind whilst doing their jobs.

CatsWhiskerz · 27/01/2025 18:19

That's vile no matter how he said it, he knew what he was saying. The BBC need to do something as it's twice now so unacceptable

whaddayawannado · 27/01/2025 18:21

Twice that we know of.

There will be more. I'll bet every vital organ I possess on it.

The video is on this page and you can hear him saying it (Mail Online klaxon):

@2025willbemytime maybe re read my post. I start by saying he is vile and I end it by saying he's the same at GW.

Of course I can bloody see it - the man is a liability. Am I absolutely up in arms about it? No. Does the need sacking? At this point, yes
