Wynne Evans - another “incident” re: Strictly

Mittens67 · 27/01/2025 13:55

Have just read that Wynne had made an inappropriate remark on the Strictly Tour last month and is now taking time off his radio show.
Having rather dismissed the hand thing on Strictly this year and speculation that there were issues between him and Katya I am now having a rethink.

OP posts:

He made a horrible reference to Shirley's gusset in yesterday's Glasgow show. It may have been scripted but it was inappropriate regardless, especially from him due to previous comments.

GrouchyKiwi · 27/01/2025 14:57

Ew. This kind of thing really needs to stop. The BBC just lets them get away with it until the PR situation gets too hot to handle and then makes placatory statements they have no intention of following.

Yodabashi · 27/01/2025 14:57

That is unbelievable (tho sadly NOT) that he said such a fucking despicable thing - in front of others! I actually disliked him intensely on the Adverts (muted it, every time) but liked him on Masterchef, and thought he was OK/quite funny on Strictly but he's obviously the same as Greg.

Get rid, like Greg, and make the point, BBC!

IdaGlossop · 27/01/2025 14:58

Very cross I have to get angry AGAIN! What is wrong with men who say these crass things in public? It's all very well the BBC saying 'we do not tolerate thus behaviour'. They do, as he was allowed on the live tour after the alleged studio incident.

Sinkintotheswamp · 27/01/2025 15:03

We need a women only Strictly this year.

Lottapianos · 27/01/2025 15:05

'He made a horrible reference to Shirley's gusset in yesterday's Glasgow show'

Oh dear god. Get rid of him for Christ's sake! How pathetic

We need a women only Strictly this year.

I'd be up for that. I generally prefer the women contestants anyway. Tired of the slobbery handsy men and the abusive male pros.

ThePoshUns · 27/01/2025 15:12

I never believed that his handsy behaviour was banter. This latest comment about Jeanette is disgusting. He should be booted off the tour and the bbc should refuse to have him on anymore of their programmes.

Binman · 27/01/2025 15:14

He didn't make a remark about Shirley in Newcastle, though he did come on with a bandage on his ankle for the second dance and did a no doubt scripted scene about his scores and his bad ankle which was very funny.

There is no defence for what he said, it was more an aside than a direct comment when they were squeezing together for a photograph and Janette was between him and Jamie. Jamie's face said it all, Janette said she didn't hear it and you cant see her reaction.

DaisyChain505 · 27/01/2025 15:14

The video showing when he said it is gross. He’s another sleazy pig who sees women as sexual objects and nothing more.

Clawdy · 27/01/2025 15:16

Am I the only one who had to look up "spit roast" ? wish I hadn't now!

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 27/01/2025 15:18

@Yodabashi Get rid, like Greg, and make the point, BBC!

Give it a few weeks for many more allegations to come up that they probably are already aware of and the BBCs name to be a bit more tainted and they will do. They don't believe in taking the easy, efficient line too soon.

Fencehedge · 27/01/2025 15:36

Puke. I knew he was a wrong-un when he was pawing at Katya's belly.

IdaGlossop · 27/01/2025 15:45

Ì thought about looking it up but decided to leave it to my imagination, which is telling me the men ate the skewers and the woman the meat. Demeaning to women demeaning to anyone who utters it.

UpendedPineapple · 27/01/2025 15:50

In Birmingham Shirley made a big thing about what a great guy he was and how respectful he was Envy

But this is the woman who is awful imo in how she speaks to her 'favourites' and how she letches over the younger men.

whaddayawannado · 27/01/2025 16:01

That is gross, and totally unacceptable in a professional working environment (or any other for that matter).

itsjustbiology · 27/01/2025 16:15

Seems to be a few "incidents" reported with this guy..I suspect there will be a few more to come. I don't like him,he makes me nervous and I smell something is off with him.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 27/01/2025 16:24

It surprised me how quickly the papers went after him for a takedown with the hands on Katya's stomach thing in the Clauditorium. Does make one wonder what else they already knew.

WhiteWriting · 27/01/2025 16:45

The lechy old bastard is scheduled on BBC1 primetime tonight - some travel programme. Would be nice to see a last minute change to acknowledge the Beeb don't condone this bullshit?

SailingYachty · 27/01/2025 16:55

Well this confirms suspicions that he is indeed a gross misogynist. He clearly thinks very little of women and should be put in his place - certainly not given any kind of public platform on TV/shows.

MidLifeMayhem · 27/01/2025 17:14

This is the type of guy who makes these ‘jokes’ and laughs so loud that he doesn’t realise that no-one else is laughing or that they may be smiling politely. Disgusting,

HRTQueen · 27/01/2025 17:17

mashingwachine · 27/01/2025 14:22

The worst part of this is that Katya probably got into trouble for reacting to him on live TV, then was expected to tell people it was a joke and continue working with him as if nothing had happened. Fuck the BBC. Honestly.

Have we learned nothing Sad

I agree

It was very obvious Katya was uncomfortable but its not only his career that might have been damaged it was hers too, and she knows this

Not surprised at all to read about his vile gross comment

why was he given a second chance 😡

caramac04 · 27/01/2025 17:21

I had to look up spit roast. How utterly vile and disgusting of the dirty old lech. Probably only signed up to Strictly to enjoy the up close and personal holds.
So so many men are just horribly grim 🤮

Tissuesandfluff · 27/01/2025 17:29

Oh I've just seen this how disgusting do these lecherous men not hearthemselves? Do they just think it's "banter" until they are caught then we get the faux apologises. Poor Janette imagine having that said to/about you.

whaddayawannado · 27/01/2025 17:31

I wonder what the big cheeses at Go Compare are thinking right now.
