DCs want ours up now!!!!!
Answer is no! But I will probably cave and let them put it up on 30th November! 🌲 but I'll know I'll want it down by Boxing Day!

Not until about the 20th of December, then down again around Boxing Day.

Christmas can be nice but I don’t want weeks of it. Seven days of it is plenty.

TeenToTwenties · 03/11/2024 15:15

Last day of term.

Spagettifunctional · 03/11/2024 15:15

First Saturday of December!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 03/11/2024 15:17

A couple of days before DSis arrives from the US on the 16th Dec. A real tree, it will stay up until 6th Jan.

Crunchymum · 03/11/2024 15:19

Weekend 14th / 15th December.

Excited but we love a massive real tree and any earlier it will be droopy and lacklustre before Christmas.

KeepingGoingOneDayAtATime · 03/11/2024 15:19

We've had ours up since April. (joke)

annlee3817 · 03/11/2024 15:20

1st December, then will want it down by boxing day, Iove Christmas but love getting my house back too

StormingNorman · 03/11/2024 15:21

First weekend in December probably.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 03/11/2024 15:21

Around the weekend before Christmas as we always do. It stays up until Epiphany.

Three house gradually gets decorated starting with the advent calendars which are big, fabric hanging affairs then inner of our pictures gets replaced with a Christmas cross stitch, the Christmas bunting goes up, fairy lights get added to the living room for the dark evenings snuggling in.

But the final event of the tree is the last piece of Christmas prep. It means that school is finished, Dh has finished work and we get it up, decorated, presents appear from cupboards all wrapped up and get put under it and we await family and friends.

And then I keep going to work and ds who works in retail still goes to work. But the sentiment is there!

I don’t think we’ll bother this year as we have new kittens and I think it’ll be a nightmare!

Justcallmebebes · 03/11/2024 15:23

Mine goes up at Christmas

loudbatperson · 03/11/2024 15:25

Most likely the second weekend in December.

I would prefer to do it on the 18th, as that was when we did when I was growing up, but my DH and the children are in the earlier camp. Although they would even balk at the thought of it going up before actual December.

Nourishinghandcream · 03/11/2024 15:25

First weekend of double figures (Dec).
A few bits & pieces can go up beforehand but not the tree.
It all stays up until new year, usually start taking it down NYD

StressedQueen · 03/11/2024 15:25

December 1st as we do every year

IcyLilacZebra · 03/11/2024 15:25

Usually Dec 12th down by new year but this year I'm not even putting one up can't be bothered tbh

TTPDTS · 03/11/2024 15:26

Some of mine are up 🫣

Ready for the crucifixion now 😂 I really enjoy Christmas as a festive season, have so much planned between now and mid December that I don't think I've got a proper weekend free to get it all done and I just think it makes my house glow in the dark evenings.

It brings me so much joy that I want it out as long as possible - also for the cost of the blasted trees I'm damn right getting my moneys worth ha!

Vanillalattecandle · 03/11/2024 15:27

Usually the first Saturday in December but I feel the 7th is too late for us So it will be Sunday 1st or Weds 4th as I have a day off.
It used to be a family affair where we all do it together but my kids don't wana know anymore so I'll do it on my own.

WhereIsMyLight · 03/11/2024 15:27

1st December. If 1st December was midweek we’d move it to the first weekend and whether it would be the Saturday or Sunday would depend on what else was going on that weekend.

Dee03 · 03/11/2024 15:28

I've just put mine up this afternoon 🎄

Misspacorabanne · 03/11/2024 15:29

The last Friday in November as I’ve booked a few Xmas activities for the kids that weekend! Be nice to come home afterwards to the tree lights!
I love the decs, and I keep them up until the 3rd or 4th of Jan usually, and plan to this year too!

StillAtTheRestaurant · 03/11/2024 15:29

This year, Sunday 1st December and I'll take it down on the 5th of January.
I work from home and I'll be working all the days that are not public holidays so having the twinkly Christmas tree to look at makes it a bit less depressing!

Mimiconvos · 03/11/2024 15:29

Love these threads, waiting for the competitive Christmas decorating disdain 🤣🤣 “I put mine up on the 25th a 6am, take it down then just before the Christmas dinner” 🤣🤣

My DS is with you. His room is a veritable grotto! Xmas Grin

The rest of the trees (3: lounge, hall and kids' lounge) will go up on 1 Dec, then down on NYD so they're gone before I go back to work after Christmas.

Mimiconvos · 03/11/2024 15:30

I’ll try get my lot to hold out until the end of November 👌🏻 will be up until 8th January then 🎄
