Always the last weekend in November for me. I host a “Christmas Day With Friends” first weekend in December so want it all up and ready for them, also like to enjoy it for as long as possible! Christmas candles may or may not make an appearance in the next week oe two though!

Frith2013 · 03/11/2024 15:56

About the 18th December. Usually comes down on NYE.

Isitfridayyetsophie · 03/11/2024 15:57

My preference is around the 15th Dec but we have a 3 year old so while he’s young I want to drag out the Christmas festivities! So we’ll put up the 1st December. I can officially listen to Christmas music then, too!

Usually first weekend in December. We have a real tree and amazingly usually still looks as good when we take it down on the 6th. I’m not usually in the mood but do like to get my money’s worth.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 03/11/2024 15:59

Those of you saying you want your tree down by boxing day, are you not still being christmassy then? Boxing day is round 2 surely? Family coming over for buffet, swapping more presents, Christmas music on?
And so on until new year? Sitting on the sofa reading your Christmas present books, eating chocolates , all by the light of the tree?

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 03/11/2024 16:00

First weekend of December it goes up and it comes down the first week of january

Bigearringsbigsmile · 03/11/2024 16:00

Anyway, ours will be going up aboutcthe 15th December and staying up until thex6th December ish

HazelSquid · 03/11/2024 16:00

20th December at home.

It will go up ready for the 1st December in my classroom then come home with me on the last day of term and up in the house.

BruceAndNosh · 03/11/2024 16:01

My neighbour is halfway through doing his outside Christmas lights already! But he does have a lot, and he doesn't actually turn them ON until December.
I've actually started following his example, tho maybe a couple of weeks later as there can be nice mild days in November to be up a ladder, but they are rarer in December

Chipsahoy · 03/11/2024 16:02

I put up the real (in a pot) small tree (about 4ft) straight after Thanksgiving.. Americans here.
Then the first weekend in December the rest goes up including the big tree

Whatanidiot123 · 03/11/2024 16:02

1st December here too usually or as close as possible. We have a real tree and we like to get it on the first Friday (DH and I choose it at the local
garden centre as we can’t fit a large tree and kids in the care together) and then decorate it with the children over the weekend. I then take it down on 2nd January. Personally I would take it down on 31st December or 1st January but I get overruled!

Floralnomad · 03/11/2024 16:03

30th November / 1december , I love my Christmas trees .

Love these threads, waiting for the competitive Christmas decorating disdain 🤣🤣 “I put mine up on the 25th a 6am, take it down then just before the Christmas dinner” 🤣🤣

This! Grin

Ours generally goes up on the third or fourth weekend of Advent, sometimes even a couple of days before Christmas Eve, then stays up until Twelfth Night, or the closest weekend thereto if we're back at school/work already.

I wonder this too! Mine stays up til epiphany, but for me christmas covers 24-31st, I can’t imagine no tree on Boxing Day! Though I can imagine if you’ve had your tree up since November you’d be a bit sick of it

ScarletWitchM · 03/11/2024 16:06

1st dec up, 31st December take down

mizu · 03/11/2024 16:07

When my DDs are back from uni so probably around 18th December.

VioletCrawleyForever · 03/11/2024 16:07

7th or 8th December

cerebuswannabe · 03/11/2024 16:11

1st of December.

ScarletWitchM · 03/11/2024 16:06

1st dec up, 31st December take down

Same here, I love the tree so always put it up on 1st December but I like to start the New Year afresh so it always comes down on NYE.

It is so gloomy however I'm tempted to put the fairy lights up around the living room now!

Imatorturedpoet · 03/11/2024 16:18

24th December.

I reckon the people who put them up early actually like them up for longer, so aren't sick of them (the whole point of putting it up early!).

MrsPostmanPat · 03/11/2024 16:41

1st December or as close as possible depending on when I'm working.

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 03/11/2024 16:44

30th November and it will come down on NY Day - I still won't be bored of it though! Love having the tree up 🌲

So why take them down for Boxing Day which is still peak Christmas period imo? If they put them up early surely they’re into Christmas, if they’ve dragged it out from November? 🤷‍♀️

Aquarelles · 03/11/2024 16:47

I'm normally 1st December, but I felt like last year December just went by so fast, I didn't really get enough time to just sit and relax, enjoy my decorations and other things I enjoy doing at Christmas.

I was so so so tempted to put it up this weekend, but I think I'm going to give it another 2 weeks and go for 22nd November this year.
