Morning - early for me! We have some unexpected visitors today so had a blitz last night ( we are Christmas visitor ready 🙂) Just need to give the bathroom a once over before start work and done.
Busy day at work today so a skimpy list:

  • am planning on sitting with a shredder next to me so can start to clear out the filing cabinet’s mass of paperwork.
  • at some point will have to go out and collect a Vinted parcel

@petalpower - hope you had a decent night’s sleep and enjoy your dd’s company before her big travels.
Have a good day all, SoE

Hello
I have seen these threads around,
What is your daily project please?

Morning! The threads started to try to help those of us who are domestically challenged, to do one job a day that will stay done, at least for a while. I started with ie wiping down light switches, or cleaning out a drawer, or similar.
We've evolved into a bit of a chat thread as well. Some of of our lists and tasks are more ambitious than others.
You are very welcome to join us 💐

I'm just headed out, in the pouring rain and sideways wind. Marvellous!

My task today is to post that blasted cheque clear out the drawer in my bedside table. Not doing the cheque as not keen to go anywhere i don't have to on foot in this weather!

Big love to @Petalpower and I'll catch up with the end of the last thread later 🍵

Love to everyone and a very big welcome to @pyrocantha !! We love having people join us!!

I am in London today so not much will be achieved. I have already managed to slip over in the rain and gave jarred my back. 😡

these threads have really changed my life. Some of my projects have been small ( changing the hall table lampshade) some have been big( painting the downstairs bathroom and installing a chandelier.)

right now I am trying to achieve a small house thing and a small garden thing each day. I am working on turning our tiny box room into a dressing room and need to plant a hellebores. The box room will take a few weeks though. It used to be my study but I never used it for that.

I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day. Best wishes to ill loved ones.

Welcome @pyrocantha .
Things are quite tricky with my dad. The hospital say he’s medically fit to be discharged but he is very, very confused and we fell he isn’t safe at home without a care package in place. I managed to stop him being thrown out yesterday and have a call with the discharge coordinator today about his needs. It’s very stressful for us as a family and horrible to see my lovely dad in such a poor way.
Anyway, today I’m going to clean the bathrooms and roll up some of the big builders bags (from sand deliveries etc) so they fit in the bin. Apparently they’re not recyclable or returnable. Also need to menu plan for next week and add to my online shop.

Found you all! Phew!

So, still half term here, main aim to survive the day with everyone still on speaking terms. I've already given dh a Paddington Bear hard stare as he's pacing around downstairs on his work phone with all doors wide open. The dc are asleep so doors are now closed.

I've been having a few issues with my eyesight, definitely deteriorating with age, I've progressed to reading glasses for my phone and reading. I may buy myself a chain to wear them around my neck!

Tough times @petalpower Really sorry to read this! The phrase you need to use when talking to the people who want to discharge your dad is 'unsafe discharge'. Was very helpful when the people looking after my mum's heart (while she was in bed) weren't talking to the people who knew she wasn't mobile. Departments don't seem to communicate in the hospital. Is there a frailty team there? They seem to work in all departments and are worth talking to.

Hello everyone and glad you've made it over here 👋

I am down with a streaming cold. The very sneezy and nose like a tap stage. I am so glad I'm not working now as i am going to make sure dinner is prepared, we have clean undies and then I'm planning a lot of doing nothing!

Best of luck with getting things in place for your Dad @petalpower

Morning all.

Hope everyone is well- and your cold is better today @FrostyFogg And that your dad is better and also not prematurely discharged @petalpower

Thanks to everyone.

Yesterday was pretty lazy for me as well @Mumtobabyhavoc . Took the cat to the vet for her regular blood test checkup. That was about it.

Today i am determined to do something. Plan is;

  • sort out banking folders now tax return is in
  • Clear out fridge
  • Do inventory of freezer, fridge and pantry as I am trying to limit my grocery spend until the 1st March (It's been an expensive month)
  • Re-arrange an old iron table to create a platform in the garden and artfully arrange spring bulb pots on it to 'create height and interest' as the magazines would say.
  • Wash one load and iron

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Winter, I have to do similar: sort box of paper files and shred what is no longer needed (I suspect a lot); dig up garden bed and prepare for planting (going to teach Havoc about gardening this year); and do a grocery shop to Costco. I'm now going to shop more frequently, but buy less when I do, as trying to limit waste. Fridge is sufficiently empty so will wipe it out as well.
Have just cleaned bathroom (minus tub, plus floor) and did a quick putter in the kitchen and put the dish cloth to soak in boiling water and vinegar. Will get to bed as soon as I wipe out fridge. 😄

At the risk of sounding like a tall poppy...
I've now wiped down the fridge and kitchen floor and set the washing machine on the tub clean cycle.
Am in bed, heated blanket is on so bed bed toasty warm and I'm going to attempt to watch an episode of The Morning Show on Apple. Night all. ☺️🥱

Welcome @Woman2023 !

I forgot the hedge guy was coming today to take the hedge down by about a foot. So i have managed to successfully delegate that job!

I have sorted out the fridge. I probably need to meal plan the next week as there are things I am going to forget about.

have good days everyone!

Welcome new people! Just passing by in a hurry - heading to the airport in 3 hours, packing not quite finished, and neither are a few work tasks...gah. Will probably not post much during the coming week, but will try to keep up! I will however run a washing machine cleaning cycle in a moment, so there's that :)

welcome @Woman2023 @pyrocantha to the thread.
I am on a mission to dump unneeded paperwork (and there's a lot of it, I used to contract so there is a ton of company stuff I need to go through). My experiment of moving my office from the spare bedroom to under the stairs has failed miserably (I just get in the way of anyone wanting to go into the kitchen), so the weekend will be another moving-furniture-round-couple of days. Currently using a wobbly art table which is very annoying but it's spot has amazing wi-fi connectivity 😃

  • carry on with filing - Pile 1: shred, Pile 2:, recycle Pile 3: normal bin Pile 4: File; with frequent stops to run to the recycling and bin and also admire how the box is emptying. 5 minutes here and there is making a dent in the big box of stuff that was shoved under the bed 😄
  • I sorted out my art stuff but there is a basket of miscelleaneous stuff that needs a further cull. Will I ever try to knit again? Do I really need a compass as I never did do that navigation course? 😄
  • there's a satisfying pile to go to tip/recycle and to community bookshelf - have got to do that this weekend has have been saying forever I need to go
  • gone through a load of gift vouchers, dumped the out of date ones and found out the balance of the others.
  • have got one 2 hour meeting to get through this afternoon and it is going to be a grumpy one....

Have a good day, SoE

Hello all. It's my day off with the little one today, surprisingly productive so far... managed a thorough clean of the kitchen (including the oven and extractor hood), baked banana bread, bought birthday present for the party we're at tomorrow, did a tiny food shop (in the same boat @WinterLobelia and need to spend as little as possible before payday!), and went for a little walk.

Now sat in the car while little one naps. Need to do a clear out of my email inbox and unsubscribe from all the junk mail so I'll do that til she wakes.

Then this afternoon - make a birthday card and make pastry for a beef pie tonight (I have a bottle of unopened port from Xmas, might use the pie as an excuse to open it, port gravy for the pie and a few glasses for myself 🍷)

Welcome @Woman2023 !

Enjoy your trip @SingleThreadJoiner !

@SpiritOfEdna I'm right there with you on the art stuff... last clear out I held onto the embroidery kit (never used) the sewing machine (used once) the lampshade making kit (never used). Not sure I can convince DP to let me keep it all next time around... maybe I should add 'make lampshades' to the to do list 😅

@TawnyT the beef pie sounds delicious!

I'm making my second favourite soup (after the yellow split pea soup). Chicken meatballs in a chicken and vegetable broth with rice, lemon and fresh dill. Although we don't have any dill which is a shame as it really lifts it.

I have done a bit of a freezer inventory. I have alot of frozen vegetables which is good.- I have a new way of cooking froz broccoli which is going down very well. Frozen broccoli in a tray, sprinkled with olive oil, dusted with sweet paprika, garlic salt and 'chicken seasoning' and then roasted until soft. It's really delicious, IMO. Otherwise we have some pork, some chicken mince, some various sausage and bean bakes and alot of dried and tinned lentils. I think another dhal is in order this week.

The hedge has been clipped. The washing machine has got something jammed in it's draining pipe. Luckily the Dcs uniforms are already ready for next week.

I havent done my proposed garden stuff- but the hedge counts inside my head as my garden job of the day. Even though all I am doing is writing a cheque!
