I'm a little bit, poor me. My back was feeling about 80% and then I somehow aggravated it this morning. So, I've been in a fair bit of pain again all day. It's tolerable when I'm walking around, but sit to stand, sitting and bending are very painful. Changing baby and putting baby to bed, lifting out are 🤬🤬🤬. Luckily I booked two more treatments with my GP pain specialist, so I just meed to make it to next week. 🤞
So, easy tasks here: put two more items into donation box i'm filling with outgrown dc's clothes, have just hung a load of wash up and have got another load on. Wiped bathroom floor and vacuumed living room and hall to closet where vacuum lives. 😁
Bought some of my favourite lavender bath soap today, drugstore, but amazing, and had a lovely scrub and washed my hair, so feeling good I managed a bit of self-care.
Soccer with Havoc tomorrow. It's parent participation because they're all toddlers and I'm hoping i can manage.🤞😬
Will look forward to reading posts here about holidays and visits with friends. Hope those under the weather are on the up. 🩷

Oooh ... it seems MN has changed the rules again. I can now only post under WinterLobelia as it says i have to post using the first user name I used.

To stop sock puppeting generally I assume. I'll have to be All Seasons Lobelia next time!

Anyway I wanted to post quickly before heading to DCs swimming and say that i hope your back is much better soon @Mumtobabyhavoc . Please do be careful at soccer. Best wishes Thanks I love the look of that soap! I have an organic olive oil one somewhere I'll dig out.

Thanks also to you and the family @Aria999 covid is such a bugger.

Hi to everyone. My aim this weekend is to keep on top of the housework and also to get stuck into patio. Our hedge needs a trim as well.

My other aim is to work my way through freezer and pantry. I am spending too much on groceries. Tonight will be chicken noodle soup using frozen mixed veg, chicken pieces also frozen and garlic bread also from the freezer. What are your got- batch meals @RunningKatie ?

Best wishes to you all, and have a lovely weekend.

WinterLobelia · 18/08/2024 06:10

Morning again!

Yesterday I was quite successful at clearing and tidying as I went along (as long as no-one looks to closely at the Room of Doom... the door is shut).

I also pruned a bit of the hedge which means the postman can see our house number now at least.

Today will be some more garden work. The DCs and I are going to Butlins next weekend so i need to think about what to pack as well.

Hope everyone has a great day and all those feeling under the weather are on the mend.

Thanks
Mumtobabyhavoc · 18/08/2024 06:41

Thanks, Winter. It actually seems to be improving! 🤞
I plan to do a bit more re-org in hall/linen/everything closet and admin/filing over the next couple of days, so hopefully I can post a success in that regard. I will have to google Butlins...🤓

WinterLobelia · 18/08/2024 06:50

Oh! And tonight's freezer and pantry meal will be basa fillets basked in coconut milk with a light curry spice. With herbed rice and frozen mixed veg.

After that it seems the freezer is mostly filled with frozen pizzas and fries and the (human grade) sausages DH cooks up for our local crow population. I will be becoming .... creative before too long. Sausage meatball piza perhaps.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 18/08/2024 07:29

Winter, checked it out. Looks fun! 👍
I seem to have lost my taste for sausages since recent pregnancy. I've got mild Italian sausages in the freezer that I use for pasta sauce and last time I used them I was 🤢

WinterLobelia · 19/08/2024 06:30

Morning all.

Today I am ;

  • outsourcing the rest of the hedge trimming to our gardeners
  • Ironing one load.
  • Tidying the play room.

Freezer dinner tonight will be hidden vegetable macaroni cheese for the DCs and more fish in coconut cream sauce with rice for me. Plus I am planning on making cherry pie using the tinned pie filling I bought a couple of weeks ago on a whim. I also made a hidden vegetable pizza sauce yesterday so will freeze some of that for when I am ready.

I've done really well this past weekend tidying as I go so am quite proud of myself!

Hope everyone has a lovely day. Thanks

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/08/2024 06:47

Winter, hidden vegetable" 😂👏
Got dc to bed and threw a load of laundry in. Ate cupcake. Hung laundry to dry, put 2nd load in on light wash, then grabbed one of the small plastic bins recently purchased again and... opened hall/linen/everything closet and picked a task to get done before laundry finished. Some things went into garbage, ie old travel size items, random cotton balls and Q-tips. And a razor that would likely mean a tetanus shot if used. 😳
New bin now has bar soap, anti perspirant and manicure items. Wash cloths have moved to long narrow basket looking very tidy in a row next to neatly folded towels. 🤗

eta: and cleaned bathroom then washed kitchen floor
🍎

WinterLobelia · 19/08/2024 12:50

Grin. I even wrote 'Hidden vegetable pasta sauce' on the freezer bag and DH quickly covered it before DS1 spotted it. I do a good line of peeling courgette (all the green bits off) then grating it and blending it along with red lentils, onion and red bell peppers into pasta tomato based sauce. DS1 would retch if he knew he was eating that. Sadly the green bits have to go because he figures it out then.

I started cleaning the kitchen and then got really stuck in. Cupboards, cleaned out the washing machine filters, just really went to town on it. Finished just short of 3 hours later and am feeling very smug.

Hedge has been trimmed.

Ironing done.

Play room is waiting. But I may need a gin and tonic before I tackle that.

I dare not even look too closely at our bathroom cabinets! Maybe this week......

WinterLobelia · 19/08/2024 15:48

My first ever cherry pie.... photo taken post Morning tea. Grin

ETA- it's look is... rustic.

Daily project Round 5
WinterLobelia · 19/08/2024 17:01

I'll admit its a pretty rubbish attempt at latticing!

It tasted good though!

RunningKatie · 19/08/2024 17:07

I remember making a chicken and mushroom pie complete with lattice @WinterLobelia - the dc admired it greatly, but when offered a slice backed away swiftly. My talents are wasted here, I'm only good for pizzas and beige freezer food.
I'm having a week off work, just at home, and I so wish we were away. I need to unwind but I also have a massive list of jobs to do. DH is working, we're tag-teaming the holiday childcare - I'm not sure if that helps or not but I am dreaming of getting away to the coast. Although looking at the weather, I'd be disappointed!
I've made hidden veg pasta sauce before, dc1 ate it all up but dc2 refuses anything tomato based. I don't know where I went wrong!

petalpower · 19/08/2024 21:20

Hello all! I’m away looking after elderly dad and stepmother - home again at the weekend for two nights then back here again next week. Today I’ve administered meds, found the bottom of the endless laundry pile, supervised carer visits x3, done a speedy Waitrose shop, encouraged oldies to eat, communicated medical needs with sibling and step siblings, made a surprising eBay sale and finally sunk into a very large glass of white wine!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/08/2024 06:08

Aww, Winter, A+ for making a pie...looks like it's almost gone! 🤗
I have a bag of apples...I should pick up some butter tomorrow to make a crust/pie...hmmm. 🤔
Petal, it's quite tough being carer.
Katie, I love a good chicken pot pie...

Washed out kitchen garbage bin today and living room floor, track for sliding glass door to deck and deck raili g. washed mats from bathroom and tub and have them hanging to dry. DC are asleep and I'm in bed, too. Going to pick some podcasts to doze off to. Night all 🥰

WinterLobelia · 20/08/2024 10:26

oh @petalpower what a strain you have right now. You deserve all the wine. I have no doubt your stepmother and dad value your presence and love. But it's such a tough position to be in. Thinking of you. Thanks

@RunningKatie I hope you get a chance to unwind. Unwinding is neccessary when you juggle so much. Lord it is hard being a working parent. Hugs to you.

Hope you get a decent sleep @Mumtobabyhavoc

We woke up late today- 7.21 which meant we had to do a mad scramble as DS1 had blood tests at 8.30. DH drove us and we got the bus back. Is everywhere doing to £2 bus trip thing? This has been amazing for us. We zip into town on the bus, watch a film at the cinema, go shopping have a glass of wine and then home again for less than it costs to park.

Dcs had cherry pie with chocolate brownie ice cream for breakfast. :) It has gone down a storm which is pleasing. I figured it is one of their 5 a day - and it's the summer holidays.

Today's freezer/pantry meal is tuna pasta salad. I am the only person enthusiastic about it.

Today I am doing a load of washing. And plan to vacuum the upstairs. And maybe tackle the play room.

Hope everyone has a great day. Smile

SpiritOfEdna · 20/08/2024 15:33

hello! I've been a bit absent - I was on a bit of a MN hiatus - got heavily invested in the engagement thread and it all got a bit nasty (for no good reason!) and I still don't know if she got engaged 😄
Sorry to hear about the back mumtobabyhavoc and the never ending caring responsibilities petalpower (that deserves all the wine)

I am getting ready for a bank holiday weekend away - the GNiece is coming with us and has been ill post her big summer holiday so we've been on tenterhooks as to whether she would be up for any strenuous activities so we will see - it might be a weekend of nice food and board games. Hoping for a nice easy drive as well.
Today:

  • lots of ironing to do
  • there's a charity bag of nicely washed and ironed clothes ready to go
  • my desk is a bloody tip of sewing and art stuff, so need to clear that off
  • need to order a bag for a friend's birthday. I am hesitating because I don't like it but she has chosen it....
  • am in a stand off with a neighbour 2 doors down about a parcel delivered here - I refuse to go and knock on the door! I know I'll cave as it is cluttering up the hall
  • need to 'do something useful for tomorrow' but not sure what that might be yet
Loving all the lattice cakes, brings back memories of Saturday trips to Sayers and their apple ones with crunchy sugar on top, have a good day all, SoE
Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/08/2024 17:32

SoE, I was following that one, too, but then lost it! Wasn't she returning home last Friday? Did she stop posting?

I'm lying in bed with a heating pad under my back. 😢
GP phone appt shortly, for something else, but will advise. I have a req for x-ray, though. Just need to get energy to book appt.

RunningKatie · 20/08/2024 17:52

I'm pretty sure the engagement happened. I stopped reading the thread but there was an update thread that I skimmed.
We've had all the weathers today, I've managed to sit out in some sunshine this afternoon which was nice.
Apart from that, I've taken dc1 to an appt, watched a film with the dc, labelled a load of school uniform, re-alphabetised the herbs and spices drawer. Some jobs more important than others!
Hope your back eases @Mumtobabyhavoc
Good luck with the playroom @WinterLobelia
Hope you have more wine for this evening @petalpower - it sounds a heavy load to deal with.

WinterLobelia · 21/08/2024 07:07

Morning all,

Hope your back eases and you get some answers and help @Mumtobabyhavoc

Was the engagement thread one where the OP found a ring at it went on holiday? I was following that one as i love a good romantic story, but yes it did get nasty sadly.

Hope you have a good weekend away @SpiritOfEdna and a restful week @RunningKatie

Today is going to be a 'tidy up before the cleaner comes' sort of day.I'm also about 1 load of washing away from seeing the bottom of the hamper.

I hope everyone has a lovely day!

WinterLobelia · 21/08/2024 07:59

Oh and today's freezer meal will be leftover tuna pasta for me plus a split pea soup.

The Dcs will have a sausage casserole with baked potatos and cheese. I can employ my hidden vegetable passata with that!

Hope everyone has a very good day. Thanks

RunningKatie · 21/08/2024 21:38

Another fun day today, I actually sat and did a chunk of a jigsaw, then this pm we went for a swim.
Got a man coming tomorrow to give us a quote so I've cleaned the downstairs loo and tidied the living room. Dc2 is going along behind me getting everything out to craft with. Makes a change from screens but oh the mess.
Tomorrow I need to do a food shop too, I think I'm going early otherwise tomorrow eve will be another freezer mezze.

WinterLobelia · 22/08/2024 06:38

Freezer mezze for us as well definitely. Heavily featuring french fries, garlic bread and chocolate chip cookie dough.

SingleThreadJoiner · 22/08/2024 12:52

Just popped in to say hello, we're away again from today until school starts, normally activity will resume then! Here is the link to part 2 of the engagement thread if you haven't found it yet, it's really quite sweet!
