Anyone actually excited about a Sunak/Tory government

Can anyone point to anything Sunak and the Tories have done over the past 14 years that excites them, and makes them go, I want to vote for them again?

To get the ball rolling I will say that I am excited by Sunak's policy of increasing migration. It is great to live in a diverse and vibrant country with people from many cultures.

Is he/are they? I can't say I'd noticed.

I can't say there's anything on god's green earth that would persuade me to vote Tory.

It is indeed his policy, which is why the put in place steps to ensure that net migration rose to 750,000 people last year. This is of course an excellent thing, as it provides much needed workers, tax revenue and an interesting and diverse country to live in.

I am looking forward to their continued use of statistics to show how good they are.

Statistics watchdog to examine government asylum backlog claims - BBC News

Full Fact Report 2023 - Full Fact

An excellent point, and you raise something they are certainly very good about.

Is it though possible to be excited by statistics?

Excellent thread idea.

I'm excited by the opinion polls about them. I'm sure I'll come up with something more positive about them in time 😏

StragglyTinsel · 06/01/2024 08:43

We currently have one. No one needs to get excited in anticipation.

The question for the incumbent administration is: does anyone want more of this?

Zonder · 06/01/2024 08:45

Some people do actually seem quite excited about them on some MN threads though.

So are you excited by the performance and policies of the current government?

Probably a good way of measuring that excitement will be whether this thread fills as quickly as if we had an equivalent thread about the opposition.

I am absolutely excited by more of the Tories. My heart rate rises and my blood pounds in my ears at the very thought.

😂 No

mamacorn1 · 06/01/2024 08:49

No. Not excited at all. Both starmer and sunak are terrifying options. Basically we have nothing to be excited about sadly.

Grumplechops · 06/01/2024 08:49

A small point amongst the many things I’m excited about….but I can’t wait to see Rishi’s Christmas social media next year. The film this year was such a classic, so funny! His comms team are playing a blinder.

Exactly both are scary options. Just because Starmer isn't Rishi doesnt mean hes any better. Both are equally shit! Unfortunately there is no other viable option.🤷‍♀️

LittleBearPad · 06/01/2024 08:54

I’m excited to see which of his MPs he causes to resign next.

For the avoidance of any further doubt. This thread is for poster to express what they find exciting about Rishi Sunak and not about Keir Starmer. If you wish to discuss the Leader of His Majesty Loyal Opposition please do start a thread on the subject.

I am excited to help my kids in the years to come with A level History homework about what a fanny Boris Johnston was and about how badly he handled Covid. It'll be exciting to say "I saw this all happen in real time!" -and so did you, but you were in nursery and Reception, so didn't notice as we were attempting to home school two kids who couldn't read yet!-

Whilst that is indeed very exciting, it is somewhat outwith the purpose of this thread which is finding excitement in Sunak.
I for one am excited to see what new standards he will accept from his ministers now that he is clear that he finds drugging wives a bit of a giggle.

Ooh yes - this will be good.

I’m expecting a newspaper to invent the ‘tetchy scale’ to track his general mood across the campaign

Oh, I do hope he comes to visit the Shire in which I live. As a safe Tory seat though it is perhaps unlikely he will feel the need to visit as it is almost certain to vote Labour next time.

I'm excited to see my salary cut even further in real terms, even though I didn't think it would be possible. I'm also super excited to see my school budget shrink, workload increase and other services we rely on for our children and families to be even harder to access than they already are. They're so clever like that. You don't think it's going to be possible but they do it!

LittleBearPad · 06/01/2024 09:22

If he only visits the seats he’s confident the Tories will hold, he definitely won’t need the private jet. A scooter would probably do it.

LittleBearPad · 06/01/2024 08:54

I'm excited to see which "safe seat" Tory MPs are getting lots of new government contract jobs or new leisure centres ij their constituencies, and which ones are getting asylum seekers.

Presumably the jobs and leisure centres are going into the constituencies the Tories plan to put up a fight for, in the only way they know how, with cronyism and corruption.

And the constituencies getting asylum seekers which will enrage the Tory vote are presumably the ones Tory HQ have already given up on as a lost cause.
