Anyone actually excited about a Sunak/Tory government

Can anyone point to anything Sunak and the Tories have done over the past 14 years that excites them, and makes them go, I want to vote for them again?

Oh yes @Pelham678 workers rights are so rubbish. How else can we attract businesses that want to exploit poor people to make more profits.

AndThatWasNY · 06/01/2024 09:57

God it's going to be so good. Can he also keep up with trashing the NHS? I particularly enjoy the longest waiting lists, lack of investment and privatisation bit by bit.

I started the other thread.

No, not excited at all, but then this is an incumbent government and on the way out, so hardly the same.

Opposition on the cusp of an election should engender a feeling of excitement / hope. I'm not sure they are.

But Sunk is promising a long term better future, isn't he? Or has he changed tack again?

And a most successful thread it was too, although I must say there are far more reasons on this thread to be excited about Sunak and the Tories than there sadly were on yours.
Perhaps you could start a sequel?

Clearly Tufton St aren't on shift yet today !

Probably a good way of measuring that excitement will be whether this thread fills as quickly as if we had an equivalent thread about the opposition.

I doubt it, as it's clearly been started by someone who is against a Conservative Government.

It's a general observation that people who plan to vote for incumbents don't talk about it much as people who are campaigning for change. Why would they stick their head above the parapet in an environment where they know they will be shot down?

waterdusky · 06/01/2024 10:01

I'm excited for the growing opportunities for more time with my children and enhancing my CV with homeschooling. If it weren't for them allowing for schools to end up dilapidated through consistent underfunding and managing teachers out, imagine how little time per day I'd get to spend with DD.

In all seriousness, Labour supporters understand that it is going to be a long and difficult job to fix the terrible mess the Tories have made. It is not as though we are expecting immediate sunlit uplands and unicorns.

But if you think people aren't excited to see the Tories gone, you are very much mistaken.

forjustnow · 06/01/2024 10:05

Great idea for a thread, OP.

I can't get excited as I'm still cringing from watching Sunak serving food to a homeless person while using the conversation starter "do you work in business?".

What an out of touch w@nker.

I'm looking forward to seeing just how much shorter Rishis trousers can get. I think he should start wearing 'interesting' socks so we have something fun to look at while he's excusing the Home Secretary making rape jokes delivering for the British People. And what things he's delivering! Everything is on the up! Food prices, energy costs, breathing! What a time to be alive!

DuncinToffee · 06/01/2024 10:14

I am quite excited to see more community noted tweets (or exes) and his blossoming relationship with Giorgia Meloni

Theimpossiblegirl · 06/01/2024 10:17

I'm beyond excited that they know what a woman is just enough to appease certain groups but still screw us all over in every way.

App13 · 06/01/2024 10:18

I am, I believe in Rishi Sunak and I think he will do right by the country.
Hes a very smart cookie and thats what need.

Perhaps we should set up a rota so send him interesting pairs of socks and then we can record with great excitement when he wears them?

Thank you for your post. There have been some attempts at humour on this thread, but yours is quite the best.

I do not get excited about any of the politicians in this country. Thank god I am not that naive. However, I am pretty sure what would come if Labour gets in so in that case I would be happy if Sunak stays in power.

Westfacing · 06/01/2024 10:27

I'm excited at the thought of more political high-drama e.g. three prime ministers in 6 weeks, 10 education secretaries, 16 housing ministers, multiple resignations, corruption, the word shit said out loud by those who rule us, and so on...

Life without Rishi's lot would be very dull - who wants dull?

What would come if Labour gets in?

notprincehamlet · 06/01/2024 10:31

I'm excited to see how many more children the Tories can have living in poverty (29% in 21/22 according to CPAG) while continuing to reward inherited and unearned wealth and to hollow out the country for the benefit of their mates. I'm also excited to see which crisis-torn part of the world they'll send Cameron to next y'know doin' the international diplomacy. Cameron for god's sake! Satire really is dead and we're all screwed.

Anyone actually excited about a Sunak/Tory government

Humane, sensible government in the interests of the majority not just the very richest, and I for one would not want that.
