Anyone actually excited about a Sunak/Tory government

Can anyone point to anything Sunak and the Tories have done over the past 14 years that excites them, and makes them go, I want to vote for them again?

I'm looking forward to seeing how much longer they can make the NHS waiting lists. I've had to go private on a few occasions recently and it really just makes me grind harder so I've got the cash to do so 😍

I’m still excited by the prospect of sunlit uplands - oh wait, that was two PMs ago, wasn’t it?

Not sure. It's all such a blur. But I'm excited by this too!

TimeZonedOut · 06/01/2024 18:58

I'm loving all the concrete and chopping down trees on the HS2 line and for a bargain cost of £68 billion (that's £68,000,000,000). We have too many hospitals and don't need junior doctors working, the consultants can do it all as they have shown this week!

I’m a teacher. I look forward to 30 more education ministers and teaching in a bunker as my school has crumbled to the ground.

pilates · 06/01/2024 19:23

No, I am not excited about any of them. Keir does seem to sit on the fence and Rishi has a lot of work to do to rectify the errors of his successors.

pilates · 06/01/2024 19:24

Predecessors I mean

DuncinToffee · 06/01/2024 19:35

Sunak was part of his predecessor's governments, even if he doesn't recall it

Kazzyhoward · 06/01/2024 19:39

No, but not excited about the prospects of a Starmer/Labour government either.

It's a matter of which is likely to be less damaging.

pilates · 06/01/2024 20:12

That’s how I feel Kazzy.

There has recently been another thread where one could contribute saying whether or not one was excited by Starmer, this one is about Sunak.

They are both better than the Johnson/Corbyn choice last election though..

The Jerombly Cromblyn has been invoked

DeadButDelicious · 07/01/2024 08:58

Ooh our illustrious leader is about to go on Laura Kuenssberg to tell us aaaaaaaaaaalllllllll about how excited we should be about the potential for 5 more years of such wonderful policies as sending Home Secretaries to Rwanda and how he's going to punish disabled people for daring to exist when he has rich mates to give tax breaks too. Yay!

In the style of one of the much loved posters of links to this forum, I am about to go out so will miss that. Shame. But the excitement of hearing all his policies might have been too much for me.

Hopefully someone can let us know what he says as I'm not near a TV right now.

the80sweregreat · 07/01/2024 09:21

I'm sure Michelle Mone can't wait to get her hands on more taxpayers money and have them back after a general election,
She is hoping people will vote for him and his ilk
Because they are so much better with the economy ( 290 million to Rwanda . I'd love to see that one on the side of a red bus )

LadyWithLapdog · 07/01/2024 09:22

Oh, where is C_ova? On annual leave? Re-shuffled?

Enjoy your day @jgw1 Make it as exciting as Rishi’s.

the80sweregreat · 07/01/2024 09:25

His on now saying that the doctors don't deserve a pay rise. Michelle Mone deserved her money though I'm sure

the80sweregreat · 07/01/2024 09:27

All he can do is diss the Labour Party who haven't been in power for many years
The system of the last decade hasn't worked
Who has been in power then Rishi ?
He won't let LK get a word in edgeways

Please tell me he didn’t really say that.

Zonder · 07/01/2024 09:38

Perhaps he is secretly excited about KS and we should send him a link to that other thread.

the80sweregreat · 07/01/2024 09:40

No, he didn't say this. He did give his reasons that the doctors couldn't have a pay rise because of the economy and inflation
She challenged him over the PPE scandal and admitted that anyone who defrauded anyone during the pandemic was wrong , but he didn't mention Mone's name . LK did , but because of an upcoming legal case over it he couldn't respond.
I was being facetious in my post

And yet Rishi had a pay rise 🤔and that was ok.

Sadlysadsad · 07/01/2024 09:46

I’m excited over a few more years of being a single parent who works, being told I just need to “work more” or “work harder” or “find a better paying job” whilst my benefits are cut to the bone.

Meanwhile my exh will be able to continue to fiddle things to get his £0 assessment and the CSA won’t chase him for what he does owe, because excitingly it’s the single mums who are the ones who need to be punished! Certainly not the man!

Also looking forward to continuing changes in Education policies so my children can also be excited over whether they will have a teacher this term and as an added bonus, whether their dilapidated school will fall down around their ears.

There is a lot of excitement in our house. I could list other things, but my excitement might be misread for Hysteria and that would not do.

the80sweregreat · 07/01/2024 09:47

Well, many people who really don't deserve it get pay rises.
He did keep on saying ' ask Keir starmer ' what he'll do, which did wind me up

nowthelighthasgone · 07/01/2024 09:50

mamacorn1 · 06/01/2024 08:49

No. Not excited at all. Both starmer and sunak are terrifying options. Basically we have nothing to be excited about sadly.

Completely agree
