Can anyone point to anything Sunak and the Tories have done over the past 14 years that excites them, and makes them go, I want to vote for them again?

The only thing I am excited about when it comes to the Tories is seeing their faces after the election results are announced and they are finally kicked out of power.

And their faces when some of them are finally exposed and end up in court for all the murky dealings around Covid contracts...

Hearing/seeing a video on social media of Sunak being booed by members of the public yesterday was also quite satisfying.

I have been pleased by the fact we have had a non- white PM. It seems ironic in a way that every PM that hasn't been a white male has been a Tory. However it does show children of different ethic origins that they can be top.

Look how excited everyone was to see him in Altrincham market yesterday. Especially that guy behind him, he's so overcome with joy that his head is in his hands.

No. Not excited at all. Both starmer and sunak are terrifying options. Basically we have nothing to be excited about sadly.

could not agree more.

Ifailed · 06/01/2024 09:31

I find it mildly exciting not to be confident about who will be PM in the next month.

@jgw1 this isn't Hungary... The UK is already an extremely diverse and interesting place to live...with people from many cultures living here and enjoying the freedom of our democracy.

Thank you for kindly clarifying that the UK isn't Hungary. Although of course some of the policies of Sunak and Orban are very similar and they appear to be fellow travellers attending the same conferences and so on.
Are you excited to have a PM who is a fan of Orban?

Not Sunak but the Tory combination of May and Rudd introduced the domestic violence bill, legislative changes and created the offences of coercive control and intentional strangulation, which is more than I thought Tories would ever do

IClaudine · 06/01/2024 09:39

I am excited to see how many more disabled people the Tories will kill off with their new proposals for disability welfare reform. I am excited to see how much more anti-immigration rhetoric they use to stir up the bigots.

Most importantly, I am excited to see whether Sunak ditches his Roman Roy influenced style of dress and finally buys a suit that fits.

Those seem like golden days now, before the absolute wallopers took over.

Remember when Amber Rudd resigned for misleading Parliament?

denturefan · 06/01/2024 09:42

I'm excited to see him on the campaign trail meeting people all the ordinary people of short stature his team have found so everyone forgets just how tiny he is!

AndThatWasNY · 06/01/2024 09:43

I am exciting to find out how much poorer we will be. Brexit was pretty good, but hopefully they will find a better way of thrashing the economy more. Ideally ensuring that the wealthy get wealthier and the most vulnerable get to die I'm greater numbers.🤞

AndThatWasNY · 06/01/2024 09:47

Ohhh also can't wait for another crisis where he can give lots of contracts to his friends so they can steal millions of pounds of public money. Yay!

bozzabollix · 06/01/2024 09:48

I’m astonished nobody has come along yet to say the usual ‘at least Tories know what a woman is’.

Dirty Johnson certainly knows what a biological female is. Chasing that has been his main concern above and beyond running the country.

Pelham678 · 06/01/2024 09:49

Oh I can't wait.

Greater social inequality. Crumbling public services. No longer in one of the biggest economic markets in the world. Lack of commitment to climate change issues. Misunderstanding of ordinary people's lives and challenges. Prioritising those who have a lot hugely over those who don't.

Wow, yes. Let's have a Tory Government forever. So excited about it.

IClaudine · 06/01/2024 09:51

Oh god, don't @bozzabollix . That lot already completely hijacked another thread

Pelham678 · 06/01/2024 09:51

Oh yes, and we need more corruption and challenges to the justice system.

AndThatWasNY · 06/01/2024 09:51

I also really want more shit in our rivers and seas. I was quite disappointed by the lack of raw sewage I saw in Cornwall last year. The kids missed out :(

Pelham678 · 06/01/2024 09:51

Oh and a shit economy.

Pelham678 · 06/01/2024 09:52

Oh yes, and let's have more shit in the rivers thanks @AndThatWasNY and water down workers' rights too.

LlynTegid · 06/01/2024 09:52

Nothing from me.

Though I am keen to see him in a court either as witness or co-accused if ever justice is done and Boris Johnson (and others) prosecuted for the deaths and corruption of 2020.

PuttingDownRoots · 06/01/2024 09:53

Won't it be exciting to see what infrastructure might fall down next? We've had schools... maybe motorways?

Mydpisgrumpierthanyours · 06/01/2024 09:54

I can.
It was very exciting to see Matt Hamcock eat a crocodiles anus on I'm a celebrity get me out of here.
I also got excited when Boris climbed inside a fridge hoping that would be the end of him.
Apart from those 2 nothing else.

roarrfeckingroar · 06/01/2024 09:54

I started the other thread.

No, not excited at all, but then this is an incumbent government and on the way out, so hardly the same.

Opposition on the cusp of an election should engender a feeling of excitement / hope. I'm not sure they are.
