Its strange that so many people are throwing their weight behind a law that doesn't exist and is unlikely to ever exist. There is no time table and no costing. Government legal advisors have described how it won't work. The President of the Law Society (well known lefty) has advised against trying to introduce it. Even the Times coverage illustrates how unworkable & impracticable it would be.
I dont think anyone with any knowledge of how long it takes to draft and implement legislation believes it will happen.
It exists only in the imagination of a few and to capture a news cycle.
It did make me wonder Sunak might plump for an earlier election. That way the nonexistant law can be their banner in the run up. Better that than get to the end of the year and they have achieved diddly squat.
