It’s here and I like it.

It reminds me a lot of the Polish grandpa ad from a few years ago. m.youtube.com/watch?v=tU5Rnd-HM6A

I love it.

mynameiscalypso · 10/11/2022 07:28

I wasn't expecting to have very strong opinions about it but I watched it and it made me cry a bit.

KangarooKenny · 10/11/2022 07:29

Nah, it doesn’t beat the bear and hare.

LadyBrienne · 10/11/2022 07:34

that's seriously good with a great message - loved it

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 10/11/2022 07:36

It’s not very Christmassy but it’s good that they’re using their platform for good. It’s one of my favourite songs too as a former skater girl myself.

Glenthebattleostrich · 10/11/2022 07:36

Sorry bit WTF have they done to that song? Didn't mind it but a bit meh

Ljavery · 10/11/2022 07:37

It's ok but I don't really want to see all these virtue signalling Xmas ads. I want to see a bit of joy and fun like we usually do. Life is grim enough at the moment and it's all marketing spin about what they think will make them look good in the public's eyes.

PhoebeTheBride · 10/11/2022 07:39

it’s not very Christmassy

Raindancer411 · 10/11/2022 07:41

I like it had a message behind it, but it's not very Christmassy other than the fact it has decorations and the weathers a bit meh in it. The bear and the hare was the best and it's been down hill since...

AriettyHomily · 10/11/2022 07:41

They've killed that song!

FayeGovan · 10/11/2022 07:41

I like it.

Waiting for the competitive mumsnet jl xmas ad crying to begin...

Namechangeagain5 · 10/11/2022 07:43

My favourite ever was the penguins. A brilliant ad.

Worst- Jeremy Corbyn on the moon.

Normally I would agree with the joy and fun, but I really like that ad!

00100001 · 10/11/2022 07:50

It's a nice ad.

But is it a Christmas ad?

Still doesn't beat IKEA from a couple of years ago.

It's older than the pyramids

Iwritethissittinginthekitchensink · 10/11/2022 07:51

I must have missed the message except the one printed at the end. There isn’t any story to it. Bland.

Oysterbabe · 10/11/2022 07:52

I love it. I am huge fan of Blink which maybe helps.

TidyDancer · 10/11/2022 07:52

It's okay, the message is nice. But it's not really a Christmas ad (random Christmas tree in it doesn't count) and the song choice is awful. Buster the Boxer was the best one imo.

Fucking hell, I mean everyone sees things differently but calling this 'virtue signalling' just shows all that is wrong - anything positive is dismissed by deadhearted cynics until all there is left in the world is total depression.

carefulcalculator · 10/11/2022 08:06

I liked it anyway, I thought it was good to have an ad that focused on something you can do for someone rather than something you can buy for someone.

Sparklingbrook · 10/11/2022 08:07

I said on the other thread that I see what they’re trying to do but it’s not possibly what people want to see.
The song. Just nooo!

LadyBrienne · 10/11/2022 08:08

umm, it exactly what xmas should be about .... giving and sharing with family, friends and community around us ...as far as I can tell, it could not be MORE about Christmas if it slapped us in the face with a cold fish

I agree. Though I bet they have a promotional on skateboards 😉

Beees · 10/11/2022 08:09

The song distracted me from the advert, it's been totally ruined!

I also agree there doesn't seem to be much of a storyline it's a very odd advert all round.

Ljavery · 10/11/2022 08:10

@carefulcalculator I'm not a dead hearted cynic. But they're a shop, and their aim is to make money. They're not a charity and don't need to pretend to be.

We're all different I suppose. This isn't what I want from a Xmas ad. Others will think differently. And they clearly think this is what their audience wants, which it seems it is for most people on here.

They're not 'pretending to be a charity' they are advertising their brand Confused
