If you aren’t planning to watch the funeral on Monday, what will you be doing?

We have the bank holiday on Monday - I am not bothered about watching the funeral, and would quite like to make the most of the day off, but obviously everything is closed.

What is everyone planning to do if not watch the funeral?

Struggling to get to work to cover a Covid infected co-worker's shift.

If the trains aren't running that's £20 for a taxi.

It'll probably be on the TV in the background, but I won't be paying much attention

Working (NHS)

Working (self employed)

Could you get jobs done round the house to free up another day, I'm decorating, this was planned well before all this and I'm thinking now we chose a good time to do it. Sorry I don't have any exciting suggestions.

PeloFondo · 14/09/2022 21:56

Off work and no DC so.. nothing exciting
might catch a bit of it
Nap
Peloton ride to do (I'm doing an exercise challenge!)
Got some new books to read

We're going to watch the funeral of the queen as it's an important national event to commemorate someone who was our figurehead for all of our lives.. Play a few board games, make the jubilee trifle (if I can still get lemon curd swiss roll) and then I'm going to go to the gym at 5 when it opens.

WaahWaahWaah · 14/09/2022 21:59

We probably will watch it but also have friends coming round in the afternoon for a general catch up over food and drinks - do you have friends/family who might be up for a catch up?

cansu · 14/09/2022 21:59

I was thinking of making a picnic and going for a walk somewhere.

MadeWithCare · 14/09/2022 22:01

I've been wondering what's appropriate. It doesn't seem right to treat it as a "holiday". I'm not bothered about it all either, but neither do I want to be obviously disrespectful.

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 14/09/2022 22:01

I'm taking DS to visit DPs over the extended weekend. He won't want to watch it (ASD and watches no TV), I don't want to watch it, and my parents are pretty ambivalent - we'll probably end up with it on the television as there will be little else to choose from, but I would imagine we will be chatting, playing, browsing t'internet, and then eating lunch.

BakedTattie · 14/09/2022 22:02

We’re going for a picnic at the beach

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 14/09/2022 22:02

Probably bowling and maybe mini golf too.

FinallyHere · 14/09/2022 22:06

I may be reduced to clearing out the kitchen cupboards, with the coverage on in the background.

Snugglemonkey · 14/09/2022 22:06

Going on a playdate to a farm park.

lazarusb · 14/09/2022 22:06

DH has got to go into work in the morning, DD is working and I'm planning to build my new Lego set and eat snacks with a Spotify playlist on in the background.

Luredbyapomegranate · 14/09/2022 22:07

Working (start up)

Did you read the question op actually asked? 🙄

YesitsBess · 14/09/2022 22:09

Going to the funeral.

crosbystillsandmash · 14/09/2022 22:09

Luckily I know lots of people totally uninterested in the royals, so I'll have plenty of potential company.
Dh & dc are off too, so hopefully we'll find something nice to do.
