If you aren’t planning to watch the funeral on Monday, what will you be doing?

We have the bank holiday on Monday - I am not bothered about watching the funeral, and would quite like to make the most of the day off, but obviously everything is closed.

What is everyone planning to do if not watch the funeral?

Unblocking the drains that run under our garden. There's not enough fall on them and we have to unblock them of all of ours and our neighbours turds every 3 months or so 🤣

Christ!! I think I'd rather watch the whole funeral than do that chore!!

Buzzinwithbez · 16/09/2022 18:33

I was really worried it was going to trigger feelings from lockdown, so we're booked into a water park and really looking forward to it.

Stompythedinosaur · 16/09/2022 18:49

We are doing some DIY, later will have pizza and play board games (what a crazy life we lead).

GrumpyMummy123 · 16/09/2022 21:09

I was talking about this with DH. It'll be like a lockdown weekend day. So probably a walk in the woods as nothing else open! TBH haven't really done much like that since the world opened up again so it'll be nice as a change.

TheOrigRights · 16/09/2022 21:34

I have planned nothing - that's a joy for me. Of course I have a million things I should do so I will potter, do some jobs, some exercise, maybe some work.
I talked to DS2 to see if had any desire to watch the TV, but he's indifferent.
It's a historical event so I'll have the tv on but I won't watch it.

Am meeting some friends for a walk in the evening

tigger1001 · 16/09/2022 21:48

Although our work is now shut, we have been given the option to do work if we want and claim toil - so I am planning to do a few hours work as would rather have the time when it's beneficial to me.

Will also be doing some studying.

We have rarely had the tv on since last week so have managed to avoid much of this and am looking forward to it all being over.

NumptiesIncorporated · 16/09/2022 21:50

I get my shopping delivery on Sunday evening, so I'll probably be doing meal prep for the week.

Egghead68 · 16/09/2022 21:54

Working, walking, listening to the new Richard Osman audiobook

@nellytheelephant1980, I laughed at this! Our drains are the same and we have to see to them on a regular basis.
@singingintheshower I secretly enjoy unblocking them! There’s something very satisfying about hosing them through!

Long bike ride and some gardening. Weather dependent, obviously.

derxa · 16/09/2022 23:08

I will watch every single minute of the funeral

Shortjanet · 16/09/2022 23:11

I've had an unexpected family related trip away today. I'll use Monday to do the 250 mile journey home. Hoping the roads will be quieter for it than they were on the way out. If I get back in time would love to go out on my bike now it's allowed again (I think?)

DillDanding · 16/09/2022 23:24

We’re going for a pub shindig with a load of mates. The numbers keep increasing and we’re now at 22. Dh and I are cycling there - mostly off road but the road bits might be quiet.

Nope. It's hugely significant for our country

dontyouwishyourgirlfriendwas · 17/09/2022 01:15

Not much. Sleeping, bit of Netflix / iPlayer, rearrange some furniture. Might head to Sainsburys Local when it opens at 5.

Justus77 · 17/09/2022 05:21

Plan to have a full on weekend with a late meal out on Sunday night and use Monday as a duvet day. May have the funeral on in the background but else will be a filmathon on sky cinema.

Glad to have the day off but there is fuck all open. Like a lockdown Bank holiday! For many many people it will just be a day off. Instead of shit films, we will have wall to wall coverage of the funeral with presenters churning out the minutiae, like they have done since last Thursday. Not significant for me.

You're on the wrong thread @derxa if you're hoping to find your people! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
