If you aren’t planning to watch the funeral on Monday, what will you be doing?

We have the bank holiday on Monday - I am not bothered about watching the funeral, and would quite like to make the most of the day off, but obviously everything is closed.

What is everyone planning to do if not watch the funeral?

I hope I'll be working, but I'm not sure yet.

If not working, kind of nothing really. I might sort my photographs out and listen to a podcast or two.

Sonnex · 14/09/2022 22:36

I'm flying to Spain for a short break, as planned. The plane lands as the funeral starts and I've got a 45 min drive so I guess it will be on when I arrive at my destination, depends on my hosts though.

Herejustforthisone · 14/09/2022 22:37

Literally anything else. But I’ll probably get up for an early surf and then have the day on the beach with my family. Reading, eating out of mess tins, playing in the surf, getting cold, getting warm and avoiding the tv and phones.

I admired the Queen. She was impressive, dutiful and hilarious. But I don’t need to spend the day watching her funeral.

JaneDoe222 · 14/09/2022 22:37

I hoped to be working, but unfortunately not, so if the weather is decent I will probably go for a walk or bike ride. If I could find an open supermarket, I would go shopping there in solidarity. Anything to avoid the funeral.

Elphame · 14/09/2022 22:39

Picnicking in Snowdonia I expect. Probably take a nice bottle of wine too.

WeightoftheWorld · 14/09/2022 22:39

Probably take the kids to a park and may meet another family or two there too. Weather looks to be ok and I think pretty much everything is going to be closed.

mast0650 · 14/09/2022 22:40

Mainly working at home as I would have done anyway. I'll have a little look at the funeral etc on the telly, but I can't imagine that'll take more than an hour of the day. I'm travelling to the airport in the evening as flying early the next day.

Cherryblossoms85 · 14/09/2022 22:43

Dunno maybe picking my nose?

FancyFucker · 14/09/2022 22:44

Won't be watching any of it

I'll probably drive to the Kent coast with my dog, take some lunch, have a lovely long walk, and pop in to see friends for coffee and cake on the way home

JamSandle · 14/09/2022 22:45

Probably doing some of my second job which I can do adhoc and from home. Over winter I want to slug as much money away as I feasibly can given the current climate.

MandyMotherOfBrian · 14/09/2022 22:45

Driving DD to Cardiff for Uni. Hoping the roads will not be too busy, and that the service stations will open, I’m assuming they will. Hopefully pubs or restaurants will be open once there or we’ll be a bit hungry after the five hour plus drive.

AgnestaVipers · 14/09/2022 22:46

We've arranged a little orgy.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 14/09/2022 22:47

DH is away abroad for work so I’m not sure - usually I would meet friends for lunch or even lunch out by myself but I don’t think much is open. I’ll probably go for a run, and a long lie.

tacoxx · 14/09/2022 22:48

I will be at Center Parcs! Kicked at at 10am after Fri to min break. Hopefully find something nice to do nearby then have three hour drive home

Elsanore · 14/09/2022 22:50

Booked an Airbnb for a last min long weekend away Fri- mon. Late check out on Monday and then drive home. Really looking forward to it.

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 14/09/2022 22:02

Probably bowling and maybe mini golf too.

Excellent! I assumed nothing fun would be open.

I currently plan on doing nothing, but mostly because I'm working 6 days this week and would have been doing 6 next week as well but my usual workplace is now closed Monday. So I'm pleased to be having the day off, though I have been offered an afternoon session elsewhere and I'm tempted as we do need the money.

blackpearwhitelilies · 14/09/2022 22:56

I’m going to make a queen-style afternoon tea. Scones, nice sandwiches and bake a cake. I might not watch the funeral, but I’ll think of her. Am also going to catch up on work and sleep.

washingbasketqueen · 14/09/2022 22:57

Working (self employed on Mondays)

YesitsBess · 14/09/2022 22:58

crosbystillsandmash · 14/09/2022 22:10

Another one!!
Read the room folks!

The question didn’t seem to be ‘are you not interested in the funeral?’ So I answered.

LegArmpits · 14/09/2022 22:59

Driving around in my car playing happy music. Then I'm going to scatter my mother's ashes.

FourChimneys · 14/09/2022 23:04

Climbing a large hill.
Paddle boarding.
Seeing clients later on.

LegArmpits I hope you have a beautiful place in mind for your mum. Did she choose it?

Smallorangecat · 14/09/2022 23:04

Maybe going to the park if the weather’s ok.
I am not likely to watch the funeral because it’s very close to the anniversary of DH’s death. DC will probably want to watch Netflix or something anyway.

Awrite · 14/09/2022 23:05

I think I'm going to see if I can find a live stream of Center Parcs.

MakingNBaking · 14/09/2022 23:08

Probably sleeping. It falls between two night duties for me, and I daren't go in tired, not with my patients. They can sniff out tiredness and will exploit it.

godmum56 · 14/09/2022 23:10

putting two coats of rot sealer on two shed floors then reboarding out the floors before moving all the stuff back in.
