If you aren’t planning to watch the funeral on Monday, what will you be doing?

We have the bank holiday on Monday - I am not bothered about watching the funeral, and would quite like to make the most of the day off, but obviously everything is closed.

What is everyone planning to do if not watch the funeral?

There's a funeral?

😁

I'm on a decluttering mission and painting a bedroom. This was always the plan but now I'll have to do it with the kids under my feet.

workinmums · 15/09/2022 11:20

We're moving soon so I'll be packing, de-cluterring etc.
Also going to pop in and see a friend of mine that had twins recently.

Zippedydoo123 · 15/09/2022 12:19

Going for my hour long daily walk and possibly some admin (self employed).

NightmareSlashDelightful · 15/09/2022 12:27

Working (self-employed)

TheOnlyMrsW · 15/09/2022 12:52

Packing as we're hopefully moving by the end of the month, and then a gig in the evening which has been confirmed as still on 😊

Thank you, and your colleagues.Flowers

Defrosting the freezer
Sorting out winter bedding
Taking advantage of DH being home and DC being at a friend's house...😚

DH has got to go into work in the morning, DD is working and I'm planning to build my new Lego set and eat snacks with a Spotify playlist on in the background.

That sounds a brilliant day!

Packing up my kitchen, as I'm getting a new one fitted on Wednesday - rivetting stuff!

@70billionthnamechange I would open up your cafe if you want to. If our shop wasn't closed on Mondays, we'd be opening up as normal. Stick a charity pot up for donations for the local food bank or similar. That's a much more productive way of paying your respects than sitting at home watching a funeral.

Good idea about charity. I just feel like everyone is judging no matter what I do.

Another one!!
Read the room folks!

Well if they are actually going to it (really? unless they mean they are just going to stand somewhere in London or Windsor) they are not watching it on TV, are they?

Isseywith3witchycats · 15/09/2022 14:39

our motorbike club doing a meal and other clubs meet at our clubhouse to watch some of the funeral and raise a toast to the queen as some of our members have been in or closely linked to the armed forces we thought it would be a good way to pay our respect to her

Completely agree. Why should you take a financial hit? If anyone comes in and is sarky, ask them to donate to the Queen's food bank fund.

As I've said a few times now, nobody is going to remember in a few days or weeks and nobody will boycott your business in future.

BackOnTheBandWagon · 15/09/2022 14:44

Scattering my Dad's ashes with my family. It would have been his 72nd birthday

somewhereovertherain · 15/09/2022 14:46

Taking DD2 back to uni as planned, hopefully, find somewhere for a pub tea. Otherwise would watch paint dry

thecatsthecats · 15/09/2022 15:49

Cheating a bit because I do plan to watch it, but in a more background way whilst I do DIY and garden a bit.

Mumski45 · 15/09/2022 15:54

Putting on my Lycra and gping for a bike ride 😉

Shade17 · 15/09/2022 15:58

Arsing about with cars

Ilovelurchers · 15/09/2022 16:01

Will take DD to the allotment and try and get loads done there. Then we will probably watch some films and cook a nice meal.

Tho actually, DH is now unexpectedly likely to be at home, so he might take us somewhere exciting! (I don't drive).

JonahAndTheSnail · 15/09/2022 16:01

Exactly! Plus it's all hotheads on social media sounding off rather than real life paying customers. Seems extremely unlikely any of them will actually step foot in your cafe and say anything.

shinynewapple22 · 15/09/2022 16:02

I will probably watch part of it on catch up but in the main I shall use the day as an extra weekend day to catch up on jobs . I'm going on holiday the following Saturday so hope to do a bit of ironing (I only ever iron before packing a case!), and some pre-holiday grooming . May do a bit of work to ensure I'm up to date later in the week. Possibly sort our online check in etc

TroublesComing32 · 15/09/2022 16:13

I don’t wish to be disrespectful but we’ve two infant school aged kids at home who will be bored stiff if we stay in watching the funeral, we’ll probably head to the beach if the weather is okay.

amifat2022 · 15/09/2022 16:19

Flying home to the UK from Norway. We booked a weekend break in Oslo(flying out on Saturday) once we realized there was going to be a bank holiday as it wouldn't have worked otherwise as we aren't taking any additional leave. Possibly a property viewing in the evening.

dontgobaconmyheart · 15/09/2022 17:06

I don't currently work due to ill health so will be doing whatever I'd be doing on a normal monday at home.
DP will be WFH.

I'll likely look at the odd newspage after the fact to see some images out of vague curiosity but have no interest or sentimental desire to watch it and we won't be putting it on at home. No strong feelings about those who will be, just have better and more interesting things to do than sit for hours for a long state funeral of a stranger when it has already been going on for some time. I hope those who are watching find comfort (or whatever they are looking for) from it though.

Deathraystare · 15/09/2022 17:08

Tidying up though might have it on for company!

BiddyPop · 15/09/2022 17:27
