If you aren’t planning to watch the funeral on Monday, what will you be doing?

We have the bank holiday on Monday - I am not bothered about watching the funeral, and would quite like to make the most of the day off, but obviously everything is closed.

What is everyone planning to do if not watch the funeral?

I'll be taking advantage of the quiet roads and practising manoeuvres in my new car. I'll probably watch a bit, the processions will be an amazing sight, but I won't watch the service. The arch bishop annoys me (don't know why he just does).

LaurenM87 · 15/09/2022 17:31

I will not be turning on the TV or radio and will go out for lunch and support a local business.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 15/09/2022 17:48

Sleeping (menopause and knackered!)

reluctantbrit · 15/09/2022 18:27

DH is coming back from a weekend trip, I may have the TV on but will read/baking/sorting out paperwork and sort out ironing.

DD needs to work on her Drama exam papers.

speakout · 16/09/2022 17:16

I will be on board a flight flying home from the Canary Islands. Land at 5pm.6

piesforever · 16/09/2022 17:20

Working - NHS, my kids don't support the monarchy really so will probably be with their friends. They might watch a bit I suppose on the news.

HikingBoots · 16/09/2022 17:21

I'll catch some of it, but will probably go for a long run or hike to make the most of the time off. We're also getting 4 rooms carpeted next week, so this gives us some time to move furniture around.

piesforever · 16/09/2022 17:24

Are you royal?

fussychica · 16/09/2022 17:28

Probably would have watched live if had been in the UK but will be driving halfway across Spain to the final stop of a road trip across France and Spain. Will probably watch when we arrive.

missingeu · 16/09/2022 17:35

Working (NHS) as I seem to do every bank holiday and Christmas etc.

FunsizedandFabulous · 16/09/2022 17:40

I'll be at work. I might put the Sky News app on but I'll be assisting people to get to where they are going to (London Underground). Luckily I'll be in Zone 2 so not right in the middle of it.

BordoisAgain · 16/09/2022 17:51

Spending time with the kids - checking out the new Fortnite season with DS and taking DD on a scoot.

singingintheshower · 16/09/2022 17:52

I'm dropping my eldest child at Uni tomorrow so I might still be sad & tearful! DS (14) off school & DH also off work so am hoping for a nice walk & a few boardgames maybe? Didn't watch any of the Royal weddings so prob won't even have TV on in background. Not sure. I'll no doubt be feeling sad but not because it's the Queen's funeral.

singingintheshower · 16/09/2022 17:54

I feel your pain @MrsArchchancellorRidcully I'm peri menopausal and seem to need a daily nap atm! 😴🙄

nellytheelephant1980 · 16/09/2022 17:55

Unblocking the drains that run under our garden. There's not enough fall on them and we have to unblock them of all of ours and our neighbours turds every 3 months or so 🤣

CanofCant · 16/09/2022 17:57

Tidy the house, get to grip with laundry. Watch a film.

XenoBitch · 16/09/2022 17:59

It will be a normal day for me, so my usual Monday things (which at the moment is trying to summon the strength to get out of bed).

Roundaboot · 16/09/2022 18:02

Getting my hair cut in the morning. It's worked out well for me actually as I had booked time off work which I don't need now.
If the weather's good, we'll go for a long walk and maybe play a board game - a bit like lockdown really.

Sorting out last minute bits and pieces in preparation for my father's funeral the following day. A difficult time has been made harder by the constant coverage of the preparation for the Queen's serviceConfused

Oh that's really hard for you! The day before a parents' funeral is just the worse! But at least your Dad's funeral wasn't on the Monday so can still go ahead. My heart goes out to you. Although at my Dad's funeral it was nice to catch up with some relatives we hardly ever saw plus see the throngs of people who had travelled to attend the Crematorium service & say such lovely things about my Dad. That did make a truly shit day a little bit better 💖💖💖 Really hope the day goes as smoothly as it can for you & your family x

Yesthatismychildsigh · 16/09/2022 18:06

Having some kids and grandkids to a barbecue, the others are working. Almost everyone at my place of work has tried to get extra shifts or swap to be able to work, to get away from it. And she was technically our boss.

OurChristmasMiracle · 16/09/2022 18:07

Sleeping eating and cleaning currently 25 weeks pregnant and would rather be prepping for baby wirh funeral on in background tbh.

Twattergy · 16/09/2022 18:09

Drinking.
Not really. Will watch the funeral in morning then probably garden chores, dog walking maybe exercise and/or a nap. Typical weekend fayre.

Ooh! more info please! 👏🤣🤣

CorvusPurpureus · 16/09/2022 18:13

Teaching (not in the UK). Have offered to cover so colleagues can watch it, as Monday is a light timetable day.

strawberriesarenot · 16/09/2022 18:15
