Just re-listening to Cabin Pressure with 10 yr old DS, who has got really into it, and whenever the theme starts comes up and says "the lemon is in play"!

I'm feeling a bit shit today so was wondering what everyone's favourite episodes are, mine are .....

The one with the orchestra
St Petersburg.... in fact anyone where they get it over on Gordon
Berling Day
The one where they pick up Theresa of Lichtenstein for the first time

But they are all bloody great really aren't they??

I saw that thread and barely restrained myself.

Turn left by the bee....

As long as the taxi driver doesn’t start trying to be charming. I can stand to be late; I can’t stand being charmed.

AquaticSewingMachine · 14/06/2022 15:00

My personal favourite is Ipswich.

Douglas: Carolyn, we have a complaint.
Carolyn: Oh dear, really? Why don't you write it down, put it in an envelope, tear it in half, throw it away and shut your face.

This is the airport speaking, listen to the airport…

AquaticSewingMachine · 14/06/2022 17:20

If you have any bombs... they're not allowed on the aeroplane. Please put them... in the bin. Okay, bye! Love, The Airport.

Only Father Christmas cares about what you want

I don't have a favourite episode, but one of my favourite scenes is the bit in Zurich where for complicated reasons Martin is pretending to be Douglas, Douglas is pretending to be Gordon, and Arthur is pretending to be himself but with an Australian accent.

And Arthur successfully overrides a Code Red!

Ottery St Mary is my favourite

DucksInTheGarden · 14/06/2022 18:24

CP is marvellous. Genuinely one of my favourite things ever. It has been woven seamlessly into life here.

We play The Travelling Lemon (I always win)

Long journeys are always accompanied by Jelly Babies to manual

Hey Chief is used regularly

Pogo sticks and egg whisks have more meaning in this house than most

Sugar bricks and only with salt! and men with a ven, and up down flying around, and rabbit of negative euphoria, and 48 men mowing a meadow, and I have an air dot...

And on and on the list goes.

I love it endlessly. And think JF's brain is a thing of beauty.

DontCallMeBaby · 14/06/2022 18:30

At this point in the thread I’ve realised the answer is ‘all of them’. Initially it was Qikiqtarjuaq, Ottery St Mary, and Limerick. Particular soft spot for Limerick for the number of times we were listening to it just as we arrived somewhere I had to pray DD* didn’t make me explain what was in the package as we walked into e.g. the in-laws house. And for Yverdon-les-Bains cos the first time I listened to it I was walking home from a hospital appointment, and burst into laughter on a busy street. It was Arthur’s dragonfruit allergy that did it.

  • She’s much older now. We are still playing yellow car.

DD sent this to the family chat just today. Sharing in case anyone else needs help imagining 100 otters. I swear our family communicate more through quoting Cabin Pressure than real conversation.

That's 101 otters - they will have to find somewhere in Gerti to put another one!

cakeorwine · 14/06/2022 19:30

"DS, do you remember when I told you to do something"
"Have you in fact, done it?"

Wall charts can lie. Mysterious things wall charts.

Did they already put one in the avionics bay? If a bottle of Talisker can fit in there, so can an otter.

As it's a baby otter I thought it could replace the lemon on Martin's hat 🍋 🦦🧢

LookAtMyCircumstance · 14/06/2022 22:01

I don’t care how hypothetical it is, I’m not flying with a live otter in the flight deck!

Isn't the avionics bay in the flight deck

EmmaH2022 · 14/06/2022 22:06

Surprising rice! 😂

Whisky is a recurrent theme in all the Burling episodes (Edinburgh, Paris & Timbuktu) but Paris is the one where Martin has to be Sherlock Miss Marple.

EmmaH2022 · 15/06/2022 00:18

Thanks Otters

I never managed to catch it all to listen to in order. It's Paris I was thinking of.

PrincessTheresaGustafaBonaventuraofLiechtenstein · 15/06/2022 07:41

We had risotto last night and I sneaked more veg into it than usual in the hope of reducing DS's diet from 90% carbs.

It took everything not to present it as 'surprising rice', as I didn't want him to examine it too closely and notice the courgette.

AquaticSewingMachine · 15/06/2022 07:43

It's Timbuktu where the whisky was in the avionics bay, wasn't it? That's where Douglas hid it (or "hid" it) and Carolyn was trying to steal it from.

I still basically want to be Carolyn when I grow up, especially if it means I get to marry Tony Head.

Snorklette · 15/06/2022 17:01

@AquaticSewingMachine That’s fine by me… I will marry Douglas and his voice like a melty Wispa. Although, I admit, it is a close run thing.

“.. and haven’t you done well for yourself! I see from your uniform that you are now a Bolivian tank Commander”.

If anyone asks for an ice cream I sing Arthur's jingle...

CormoranStrike · 17/06/2022 13:21

I’m on holiday and have just binged (again) on so many of them.

I even get tearful at Zurich 2!
