Signing in. I'm making slow progress but trying to be more mindful of each purchase. I think I must have enough body lotion and shower gel/soap to last me for the next two years. And probably more eye shadow than I'll use in the next ten years... On the other hand, I no longer hoard shampoo, conditioner, deoderant or facial cleansers so I know I must be getting somewhere.

Treeballarae · 11/06/2017 21:55

Thank you for the new thread Kwick

I have finished the first in my five for summer - the Royal Jelly hand cream. I have now started the matching body lotion. It feels so good to finish a body lotion type product as these take me ages to use up and I have loads in my drawer.

I think I too need to rejig my fiveforsummer list as I don't think it is very realistic with hindsight. So new list is:

[X] M&S Royal Jelly Hand Cream
[ ] Indeed Labs exfoliator
[ ] Elemis Oxygenating night cream
[ ] Oskia Perfect Cleanser
[ ] Max Factor concealer

Undoing my one "out" above, I treated myself to the Zoeva En Taupe pallette today, I haven't worn eyeshadow for years and I don't own any pallettes but this was really pretty so I hope this will be a good purchase.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 11/06/2017 22:09

I've emptied a L'Occitane Shea Shower Gel (part of a gift set)
An M&S shower gel (the orangey one with French writing - will rebuy , bargain at £4)

Tonight I'll use the dregs of a Superdrug Glycolic Peel (the Radience one)

So that'll be 3 Grin

We are on thread six?! Amazing!!
I've been a bit awol but finally have some empties!
I've finished a travel size elemis fresh skin mattifying moisturiser. They stopped selling this a couple of years ago and I bought as much of it as I reasonably could. I don't use it all the time but have now opened my last full size pot. Very sad. It's so hard to find skincare for oily skin that isn't cheap with crap ingredients as it's all aimed at teenagers...
I've also finished a 'kind natured' shampoo. I didn't like this, I know that more natural, less chemical shampoos are supposed to be good for curly hair but my roots get greasy. I feel like I need some suds otherwise day 2 is horrible and I'm reluctant to go back to daily washing.
I've also cut open my body shop vitamin c face scrub (hate this, it's gets in my eyes no matter how careful I am) and hit pan on my mojito body butter!

DragonNoodleCake · 11/06/2017 22:45

Checking in...off to France in 6 hours (I must sleep) hoping to use up a few mini's! Especially after my kiko haul on Friday.

curragh · 12/06/2017 06:59

Signing in to the new thread.

One empty to report
10. Crabtree & Evelyn Jojoba body lotion (dregs of the bottle)

I'm now on to a full size Clarins body cream...will take weeks to use. I tend to hoard body lotion, handcream and some make up...mainly because I forget to use them. This thread has been great at getting me using them and the skin on my legs has never looked better Smile

ladyyyglittersparkles · 12/06/2017 07:06

I need to join you ladies 🙈

kwick · 12/06/2017 08:21

Welcome lady!!!

lifeistooshort · 12/06/2017 10:20

Ooh new thread. Thanks for Kwick

Enjoy France Dragon where are you of to?

I have given at least three more products to my daughter (cleansers) as she thought the new one I got her was a mask and used loads when it should have lasted her weeks.

I have finished my 4th of the 5 for summer, my Waitrose pure cleansing gel which was quite good for the price. Not sure I will manage to finish the 5th within 10 days though.

How is everyone else doing?

FiveShelties · 12/06/2017 11:18

Thank you for the new thread kwick.

I have at last an empty - one Island Escape Body Lotion from M & S, which I got with the perfume. Love the smell, very summery --- although I have moved and we are in winter! I brought only full items with me and have been amazed how little I have used since I arrived.

usernameinfinito · 12/06/2017 13:29

Yay!!

Thank you for the new thread kwick

DragonNoodleCake · 12/06/2017 14:44

I'm in Paris for work - 5 day training it is very very dry material so far.

pasturesgreen · 12/06/2017 17:24

Thank you for the new thread!

Marking my place for now, no exciting empties to report so far and I must go and buy a new concealer tomorrow, will try to get just that

d270r0 · 12/06/2017 17:43

I have no empties to report either, seems to be taking forever! You have all really inspired me to use all the products languishing in the bathroom cabinet that I've ignored for years! I even painted my nails the other day :0

littlepooch · 12/06/2017 17:46

Hello! Im just marking my place to come back later to update! Sounds like there has been good progress!

Strawberryfield12 · 12/06/2017 19:44

New thread! Thank you Kwick!

I have Nr4 of 5 finished! Moroccan oil 25 ml travel size. And have made a first chip in my baby products - have finished Madara cocoa&plum baby oil cream full size. Still have two 250ml Bentley baby oil bottles and Earth friendly baby lotion. Idea is to have them all finished by end of 2017. Wish me luck!

FrustratedFrugal · 12/06/2017 20:11

Thanks for the new thread! I am back from my travels.

5/5 from my summer list gone: boring staples: have used up two toothpastes (a mini and a full size) and a travel size shampoo from Lidl. Freeman whipped body butter, two Chanel lipsticks, a travel size sunscreen, a blusher and a compact foundation also almost gone.

I hit a Sephora during my travels - I now have a Nars Dragon Girl red jumbo lip pencil and the Narsissist Unfiltered II blusher palette. Plus a mini body butter and shower gel from DM, both almost gone already.

CantChoose · 12/06/2017 23:12

frugal you've finished TWO lipsticks?! I'm not sure I've finished two lipsticks in my entire life!

kwick · 13/06/2017 06:51

frugal is an expert in finishing lipstick!! Please share your secret?! 💄

Nothing much to report but due to what I have discovered is a brand new tiny allergy to grapefruit of all things I hit the Diciem shop on Sunday and purchased a replacement for their Buffet serum which I finished (Yay!) of a couple of acid serums in the hope that the attractive red blotches will diminish over the coming days.

On the plus I am into a good routine of shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body lotion each morning - so products are being used steadily, and I feel strangely in control of "product control" in that the urge to buy is not coming over me - I think I tend to almost panic buy stuff when I begin to feel stressed - the question is: how long will the feeling of calm last!!!

Thanks for the new thread!

FrustratedFrugal · 13/06/2017 13:40

Plumstone that sounds like some great momentum!

I have long periods of relative calm and steady and patient using up, then brief bursts of overshopping, particularly when I travel (my trip to Asia Blush).

If you want to use up lipstick, select 1-3 shades that are more than half gone (=you really like them anyway), and then keep one of them where you do your morning makeup and another in your handbag or travel kit. This way, they are an autopilot option whenever you get ready and touch up. You can use any other lipstick too, but most of the time, I grab one of those that I am currently focusing on. I also rotate shades depending on seasons. In December I used bright reds, in Jan and Feb, deep berry tones, and now I am all about muted mid pinks. Having a few alternatives keeps things more interesting.

pasturesgreen · 13/06/2017 17:26

Thanks frugal, will try your lipstick finishing tips.

I had to get a bigger storage box for mine just the other day and while I was arranging them I may just have counted - ahem - 18 of them Blush

And that's not counting lipglosses and lip crayons...I'm definitely a woman on a mission to use my existing stash up before buying new 💄

I don't think I've ever finished a lipstick either! Lip pencils and nars velvet matte lip crayons yes but not actually lipsticks!

Some empties from me - annoyingly none on my 5 for summer list. I clearly picked the wrong things to put on the list.

Jo malone body cream in peony and blush suede. This was really nice, the scent lasts ages and it soaked in really well. I'd never buy it myself as I think it's very expensive!

Liz Earle skin tonic - a staple for me. Love this. Have a mini one in the stash to use next.

Dove deodorant stick - I like this and use it a lot so would repurchase.

I think I may be close to finishing one more thing on my 5 for summer and shall persevere with the remaining two! Oh and the Laura mercier primer lives on - I just can't seem to use it up and it's killing me!!!! Grin

kwick · 13/06/2017 22:54

Really annoyed plum I still have not made it to the Deciem store... did they have the foundations in stock?

Well done little!!!

So I have an empty, but cannot remember if one of my five Confused

  • Origins GinZing moisturiser from Look Fantastic advent: I really liked this but I have a sinking feeling it has some not so great ingredients in it
OP posts:
kwick · 14/06/2017 06:24

Two more empties!!!

  • Maybelline Baby Skin instant pore eraser: one of the very few drugstore primers I have found that does not contain cyclopentasiloxane
  • The Body Shop all-in-one bb cream 01: have another in the stash but not sure I will start... I need more coverage than this and it is a bit too glowy for me
