Looking great frugal!

pasturesgreen · 23/06/2017 16:45

I'm in need of your forgiveness as it appears I may have - ahem - sinned Blush

I can at least partly explain, though: the anti-cellulite cream was a boring necessity and doesn't really count as a beauty purchase (because I say so!), the lipstick I had promised myself I'd get as a treat if I got good news at work which I was expecting, and I couldn't really go back on my word, could I?

The eyeshadow and travel size powder were impromptu buys I really have no excuse for...Blush

It doesn't really help that the sales assistant loves me as she bloody well should, since I make her earn her own body weight in commission with all the money I spend with her and showers me with samples every time I visit.

And breathe...Tomorrow is another day and all that.

Dragon and D27 super impressive and well done!

Pastures your new stuff looks lovely, enjoy and do not feel too guilty!

FrustratedFrugal · 23/06/2017 18:18

Kwick thanks and I also have 7-8 eye palettes to use up before I can consider new ones - we'll keep this thread going for a long time Wink

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 23/06/2017 18:21

Can I join you please? kwik I think you should keep the palette that you like the mirror from. Can you remove the palette section so it will double as storage? I have been quite good lately. But...as someone mentioned earlier, I was really tempted by the M & S beauty box £10 jobby. I had to have a stern word with myself, and acknowledge that apart from the nail varnish, there would be nothing I would actually buy separately! I will have a look what I can put in my used by schools back list. I don't count anti-perspirant, toothpaste etc, as I see those as maintenance, rather than beauty.

Strawberryfield12 · 23/06/2017 18:47

My 12 to shelve by the back to school:

  1. The White Company Fresh Fig shower gel
  2. The White Company Fresh Fig body lotion
  3. Clinique pep-start eye cream
  4. Espa Optimal Skin serum
  5. Body shop cocoa lip balm
  6. Aurelia skin cleanser
  7. Baby oil
  8. Espa purifying shampoo
  9. The White Company Day Eau de Toilette
  10. Origins Mascara
  11. Pixie Glowtonic
  12. Madara hydra sos cream

Have finished bourjois eye pencil this morning. Usually it's the skincare empties I can report, but today is different. Also have used Weleda skin food small size. Must be great in the cold climates in the winter how thick and greasy it was.

I have to confess into caving into M&S beauty box... It started off with looking for a present for my mum and ended up buying some stuff for myself and adding the box because "it was so cheap!". Doh!

Strawberryfield12 · 23/06/2017 19:26

Ah, also used the Bodyshop honeymania hand cream, somehow it almost doesn't count since it was the office hand cream. There was a funny incident related to it. Brought it to the office without knowing how strong it smells. First time I used it, one colleaugue asked the other one what's the smell. To what he replied that it must have been some cheap perfume. Grin

Beaver I hear you about Aurelia cleanser. I got their polish in my calendar, which was ok. At some point got a voucher for their products and decided to try something else - cleanser. Why, oh why.... For the price there are some really lovely cleanser.

kwick · 23/06/2017 22:58

Welcome sponge !!
Not sure if I can click out the make-up tray - will try in about two years when pallete finally empty!!!

Haha strawberry! But I love that smell!

Going make-up shopping with a friend tomorrow... am allowed to get a tinted moisturiser and lip balm....

Paris was good Kwick I did manage to get one evening in town, the training course was very dry, but the instructor did shamelessly flirt with me on the evening in town and the following evening in the bar!
I might have shamelessly flirted back!
Not bad for a freshly forty Gran!

I managed to not purchase anything on the Paris or Hamburg trips! But I did get limited edition Paul Smith Rose on the Zurich trip oops!

curragh · 24/06/2017 07:43

I have compiled my 12 to shelve list (most already open or sample size so should be doable)

Two more empties here
13. ancient boots own brand hand cream which had split (binned)
14. Shiseido foam cleanser - sample size

WooWooWitchetyWoo · 24/06/2017 08:46

Have been lurking until I'd done 5! My beauty box hoarding is shocking, on top of all the 'bargains' every time there's is an offer on Sad.

Have just finished:

Estée Lauder gentle eye make up remover - got this in a 'buy 2 things, get more things you don't want' deal. Absolutely rubbish.

Johnson's daily essentials eye make up remover pads - fantastic! Will keep buying these.

Clarins pure melt gel - smells nice, does very little. Had to always double cleanse as it's a bit pathetic.

L'Oréal infinium extra strong hairspray - OK but wouldn't rebuy as my definition of strong is not the same as theirs Grin.

Aveda phomollient mousse - love this. Gives volume without stickiness, no build up, definitely buying again.

That hasn't made a dent in it and I've got two things I'll buy again Sad. This is a great push though, will be back!

kwick · 24/06/2017 09:27

I have just "shopped my stash" for make-up... my pallete hoard is worse than I remembered... oh well bit by bit eh?

Off shopping today to help a friend get new make-up but am shopping too!! Will report back later - the way I see it: should not buy clothes at the mo due to weightloss but need to buy something... where is the harm?

WooWoo what a great way to join! Welcome!

My sample stash seems to be growing steadily - will need to do another homemade Advent calendar this year.

Have found a couple of almost used-up cosmetics (a sunscreen, shower gel and a lipstick) so adding those to my list of items to finish.

BigStripeyBastard · 24/06/2017 10:42

Good morning, fellow stashers!
I failed miserably in my five by the longest day challenge, mainly due to moving house and living in mild chaos for a couple of weeks. So let us quietly draw a line under that and never mention it again 😊
However, order is resumed in the Stripey household and I have assessed my stash this morning (after I distressingly discovered ANOTHER makeup bag full of Clarins samples and travel sizes in a box that had been packed for many months).
I am fully on board for the Twelve to Shelve by September, I have made my list and am heading upstairs as soon as Saturday Kitchen has finished for a full on double cleanse, face mask, hair condition, body scrub, face exfoliate/serum/moisturise pamper FRENZY! This is the first day of my two weeks off from work, I have been working like a lunatic recently, on top of the house move so I am going to spend some time on ME!

Then I can lounge fragrantly about until the Virgin Media man comes to install my broadband this afternoon!
I will nail this Twelve to Shelve! ☺

I've also caved in and bought the M&S beauty box. I've now realised that beauty boxes like this or gwp are a real temptation for me, I love being able to try out new products without feeling that I'm wasting a lot of money if I like them.

I'll work out my list later. Can I do 10 instead of 12 as our kids go back to school two weeks earlier (Scotland)?

ememem84 · 24/06/2017 13:16

My 12 to shelve:

-clarins toner full size
-clarins cleansing milk full size
-clarins eyebmake up remover full size

  • clarins night cream
  • body shop pink grapefruit body butter - full size half empty already
  • tigi s factor shampoo diamond shine -1l bottle
  • tigi s factor conditioner diamond shine -1l bottle
  • jo Malone grapefruit perfume - full size
  • hit pan on one more urban decay naked 2
  • Dior mascara - plum
  • blanx extreme whitening treatment
  • body shop papaya shower gel
Strawberryfield12 · 24/06/2017 13:49

I think I will have to make some kind of mark on my 12 items otherwise I will get confused in few weeks time. Could print out the list and put it on the wall, but that might cause a raised eyebrow from DH.

kwick · 24/06/2017 15:10

Oops sorry that was very rude of me!
Welcome woowoo!!!

I did buy quite a few things including the Sleek Solstice highlighter pallete which I have been hankering after for AGES! Did not buy Bare Mineral complexion rescue but did get a Yes to Carrots cc cream half price (and a serum) but hardly counts as I had a wapping £7 H&B voucher so only had to pat £2 more! M&S did not have Pixi with Caroline Hirons double cleanse - will probs purchase on line as I have a voucher.

Applesandpears we have the same deadline - Scandinavians also go back to school in mid-August, and I also have reduced goals.

Great goals everyone and BigStripey my sympathies for the house move, I know how time consuming that will be but I know you can nail your goal this time! 💪🏻

littlepooch · 24/06/2017 19:50

Hello! I am going to compile my 12 to shelve tomorrow morning. Quite excited! It will give me one final push to clear some stuff before the baby arrives. I'm enjoying reading everyone's lists! I love seeing what all you have got!

In the meantime I finished a deluxe sample size of an estee lauder toner - meh. Did naff all. Didn't even smell nice.

woodhill · 24/06/2017 21:04

Catching up with thread. I'm using my travel sizes. I've been going through swimcap to save my highlights but makes my hair greasy. Hope to use most of it up.

mowglik · 24/06/2017 21:17

*Omorizcova thermal cleanser trial size
