I'm done with 5 for summer!

I have finished two products today:
[x] Freeman Vanilla body butter (bought in 2008 Blush)
[x] Lidl Cien Volume shampoo
The body butter was alright but a bit waxy - and using it up took most of the winter. Won't rebuy and I have a ton of other nicer body moisturizers. Cien Volume shampoo was pretty awful too, my hair tended to feels lank and greasy after using it so I did not intervene when DC started using it for their bubble baths.

I had my hair highlighted about a week ago. Feeling blonder and brighter. Here's a lipstick selfie with Chanel Legende, it will be gone in a week or so!

Welcome Bunnybleu! Streamlining sounds great!

Highlights look good.

Mine is high lighted but will we using swim cap,or a ,spf 50 oil which I bought in TK max yesterday as it will fade. Will also take a hat.

I did buy a couple of minis in Superdrug and a really nice new sponge bag in M&S so hopefully I will make a dent.

So excitedSmile

curragh · 17/06/2017 23:09

@mintmagnummm have you tried any of the la Roche posay toleraine range? Sounds like it might suit

Couple more tiny empties here:
11. Sample sachet of Nuxe night cream
12. Sample sachet of Nuxe eye cream (really liked this but prohibitively expensive)

mintmagnummm · 18/06/2017 06:41

@curragh yes I have tried the toleriane range and it didn't agree with my skin unfortunately, I felt like there was a residue and my skin felt irritated and broke out. Thanks though.

kwick · 18/06/2017 07:47

Great progress ladies!

Welcome @bunnybleu!!!
A really good (and cheap) dupe for LE cleanse & polish is the Superdrug Naturally Radiant hot cloth cleanser - I actually prefer it.
If your skin is misbehaving then Lush Ultrabland is a good place to start.

Congrats @FrustratedFrugal!!!
Loving the lippy.

Recently have come back from a trip to Sain where I tried to buy cheapnas chips beauty products - I can already identified 2 big winners and am mentioning in case any of you get the chance to purchase too:

  • Deliplus aloe vera eye cream (from Mercadona)
  • Carrefour Q10 facial serum
Niether contain nasty cyclopentasiloxane

I have 2 more empties:

A small size Moroccan Oil Volumizing Shampoo - I love this and will buy again. Smells divine.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum foundation - HG, will buy again

I have enough shampoo to last me the next several months and I'm trying to get through those, but I only wash my hair every 2-3 days.

Strawberryfield12 · 18/06/2017 09:11

Done with my last 5bysummer item - full size Madara Aha Peel mask! Yay! Like it a lot, but have had it for some time and am all itchy to try Alpha-H liquid gold.

Was very proud of having resisted Madara 24 hours of 40% off on all products and a full size cream in present for orders over 70 euros on Tuesday. Just to end up buying Clinique vitamin C booster. Blush looking at you Caroline Hirons!

bunnybleu · 18/06/2017 09:11

Thanks kwick I've used the radiant Superdrug one before and wasn't keen, although that reminds me that the Vitamin E one I did like!

kwick · 18/06/2017 09:54

I love them both Bunny

I have an empty!

  • Lush Happy Happy Joy Joy conditioning hair perfume: I first tried this on holiday a few years ago and like the smell but it is not the best conditioner
So that was number 4 off my 5 for summer list. Number 5 is a Chanel eye shadow - I think it needs a few more weeks use and I will persevere

What is our next list going to be? Shorter milestones keep me focused but I do want to do 13 for Halloween so maybe a list that finishes midway through August? "6 for sun" or "7 for heaveb"... hmm maybe list names are not my forte Confused

woodhill · 18/06/2017 11:37

Decanted some shampoo for holiday creating an empty full size. Faffing about with mini funnel.

How do I stop my hair going ultra blonde with my hi lights. Trouble is don't want to wash it every night on holiday as that must fade colour too. Intend to wear a hat.

Iris65 · 18/06/2017 11:43

Just finished a Simple Factor 25 Moisturiser. Replaced with a travel size Simple moisturiser which I am blending with a factor 50 sun screen.
Carrying on with:
Aussie Miracle 500ml shampoo
Aussie Miracle 250ml condtioner
Bayliss & Harding Lavender body wash
Neal's Yard Frankincense facial oil

ABeaverAteMyThumb · 18/06/2017 14:54

struts in

Hello! Good work on the use-ups everyone.

I'm feeling pretty proud of myself... for I have 3 outs!

A small l'occitane pivone flora shower gel. Think it was 75ml.
The shower gel I was convinced you were all refilling Grin
Burts Bees almond hand cream (used on feet because it stinks and was sticky)

kwick · 18/06/2017 16:06

Am on my way to Superdrug for some retail therapy.... Blush

Yay I have found my people!

Am determined to get rid of all of the not-quite-rights as I have a shopping list the length of my arm and don't want to buy anything new until I have no alternatives.

So far this month I have a few empties:

  1. Sample size Liz Earle Superskin moisturiser (to me it smells like gloss paint, but skin did feel moisturised and soft)
  2. Nip+Fab glycolic pads (also have the night time ones and a serum and an overnight mask so needed to make an effort!)
  3. No7 perform and protect serum (been open for ages and have others I want to try need to scratch The Ordinary itch

So feeling quite pleased! Currently in use and hoping to get through soon:

  1. Neal's Yard frankincense moisturiser
  2. Superfacialist Una Brennan Vit C cleanser (love the smell of this and can feel it working, but need to finish as have some other balms/oils to use as well!)
  3. Soap and Glory shower gel (lasting ages and have loads of other sample sized ones to get rid of!)
  4. Two open Bio Oils (from last pregnancy and need to finish them asap as I have a couple of new ones and am already six months pregnant)

I also have loads and loads of body lotions and moisturisers that never get used, so I am going to try and build them into my daily routine, starting with:

  1. Open bottle of Nivea intensive moisturising something or other
  2. Unopened dry oil from No7 (for most mornings when I'm in a rush!)
willymcwill · 18/06/2017 19:44

Oh and baby-wise I have just one empty; a Weleda Caledula Hair and Body wash - it seemed never ending and I have two more in the cupboard! Have also started on some of the many free samples of baby moisturiser/eczema cream.

kwick · 18/06/2017 21:10

Welcome @willymcwill !!!
Congrats on your pregnancy. Did Bio-oil help with stretch marks? I nearly bought some today but refrained as I have some oils on the go already...

I am trying out my recent Yves Rocher splurge: Light Legs fresh gel & lavender anti-fatigue iced gel. Legs and feet are nice and cool.

So the reason I made an impromptu dash to Superdrug was that I heard they now stock ELF.... my local one does not 😭

OP posts:
willymcwill · 18/06/2017 21:37

Thanks, feeling this heat!

Not sure if the Bio oil helped or not; I make big babies, and so did get them at the end anyway (this will be baby number four, pregnancy number five). But it did make bump feel lovely and moisturised and soft and not itchy, so I stuck with it. I have bought some Burts Bees to try, and will get some Neal's Yard stuff too in the next few weeks - I'm trying to oil twice a day, baby seems to like it Smile

kwick · 19/06/2017 08:28

Not really an empty but gave half used Max Factor False Lash effect waterproof mascara to my mum as she was in need. Already have another (Freedom lash curler mascara) on the go.

I live in the Finsbury Park area - traffic is crazy this morning after the attack last night.

OP posts:
kwick · 19/06/2017 15:41

An empty:
Naked Lips superfruits lip balm

OP posts:
d270r0 · 19/06/2017 17:13

I have an empty: no3 of my 5 for Summer- Body shop strawberry shower gel. Was ok but wouldn't buy it.
I have 2 left of my 5 for Summer left to get through but won't manage it by 21st June which is on Wednesday. I have loads of a Sanctuary 100ml face mask left, I really underestimated how many uses I'd get out of it so will take a while yet. Also a bomb cosmetics bath bomb I wanted to use, I have lots of showers but baths are a bit of a luxury as I like to spend more time on them so only tend to have them when the dc are out the house, which doesn't happen often.

kwick · 21/06/2017 07:19

I have an empty!

  • Clinique deep comfort hand and cuticle cream 30ml: ok but have ones that I like much more

Tablefor4 · 21/06/2017 12:59

Ooohh.... Finally. Ancient body lotion from Champneys. Actually it finished itself by cracking when I squeezed it, but same same. Despite best efforts no other has actually finished yet
