The mother is 44 and by mumsnet standards that isn't considered old to be a mum. Good luck to them. I wouldn't want to have a kid at 44 much less 89 but in reality do people as wealthy of them even take care of their own kids? They will have a nanny on standby.

I felt a bit repulsed. I hope the child is healthy. Using 90 year old sperm is not exactly risk free. I wonder what the siblings (Some of whom are old enough to be the child’s grandparent) think.

That's awful. My grandad died earlier this week at 87. His fathering and even his grandfathering days are well behind him, and he has great grandchildren. This is really selfish.

Whilst I feel sorry for the child, who will in all likelihood never know his father, I'm not sure what's apparently so gross about an 89 year old having sex. Elderly people can be sexually active too!

And yes, there is a huge age difference. But his wife is 44, she's not some naive 23 year old. Maybe for her it's her last reasonable chance to have a baby, who knows.
