Apologies for the link to the Sun but AIBU that this is just ridiculous? That poor child will probably statistically never know his dad.

Actually, is it very likely that an 89 year old man was naturally able to impregnate his wife? Perhaps they were using IVF. He's super old, but if his wife hadn't had a child before I can understand them pursuing a way for that to happen. And it will be a wanted and very very rich baby. There are worse ways to start out in life.

LorenzoStDubois · 03/04/2020 01:06

I'd be amazed he could get it up - at his age.
Must have been an assisted pregnancy.

FunkyKingston · 03/04/2020 01:42

The only things he gets up three times a night is the urge for a piss.

SpokeTooSoon · 03/04/2020 01:51

Excuse my cheek, but do 90 year olds get erections? His girlfriend is very attractive. Is she turned on by wee Bernie do we think?

SirChing · 03/04/2020 02:28

What @lakeswimmer said.

I wonder if the mother was single and had got pregnant via sperm donor, would she be called selfish? That's knowingly raising a child without a father and, in most cases, the woman won't be cushioned by billions in the bank.

So the woman has chosen to have a child with a man, who hopefully will be in the child's life for a little while, who has a large family for support, and all the parenting help they can pay for. What's disgusting about that?

The real reason for thr revulsion is the idea of an 89 year old adult having sex with a 44 year old adult, isn't it? Well that's just agism and, guess what, no one is making you shag him.

The vomit faces are bloody awful. Can you imagine if the mother read this thread? Also, if people could stop propping up the misogynistic idea that if a younger woman is with an older man, it must be that she is a sort of prostitute after his money? We already face misogyny from men, is there any need for us to help them perpetuate it?

Thats not the same thing at all.

Shes not with him for his looks,is she.Shes an adult, hes an adult.Thats not the problem.Hes 89,his life is not going to be ct short is it.
What if she dies first. How will he look after a baby at his age.See its not all about him dying.

ukgift2016 · 03/04/2020 05:32

Disgusting.

PhilCornwall1 · 03/04/2020 05:51

Bernie is minted, someone else did it for him. Envy

Do you honestly think he would have an issue with getting someone in to help? He's certainly got the financial capability to have whatever he wants, so someone to look after a child full time is easy for him.

soannya · 03/04/2020 05:58

How bizarre!

userxx · 03/04/2020 06:01

@SpokeTooSoon Oh there's millions and millions of reasons she's turned on by him 😏

PhilCornwall1 · 03/04/2020 06:07

@userxx I'd say a billion or two reasons. Grin

HennyPenny4 · 03/04/2020 06:10

Ivf, because she wanted a baby - someone said she was 44 - so an 89 year old DF and 44 year old DM probably means IVF.

StealthPolarBear · 03/04/2020 06:18

I don't care if the baby was conceived through ivf. If natural thwn I would have thought there were issues about the quality of his sperm.
Either way, they, as a couple decided they wanted to bring a baby into their lives and that's what I find odd. If she was 25 when they got together then he was seventy, surely she must have assumed babies were off the cards.
Why become a dad (by whatever means) right at the very end of your natural life?

Pulppixies · 03/04/2020 06:21

Can I ask the cut off age for sex because according to Mumsnet, there is one?

Rubyupbeat · 03/04/2020 06:25

People are so selectively nasty on here...yes I feel 89 is much too old to have a baby, but then I also believe having a baby in your 40s is too old, but according to the laws of mn, no one should dare say that. Well fine, just dont judge others and make nasty personal remarks to others!
Absolute hypocrites.

RJnomore1 · 03/04/2020 06:26

Well my first thought was I hope he gets a paternity test...

Then after I stopped being a horrible person I thought fair play, they’re financially stable, she’s going to be around for a long time mostly, and I can’t imagine someone building a multi billion fortune was ever that hangs in a dad...maybe more time now than when his other children were young?

RJnomore1 · 03/04/2020 06:26

Ffs

Hands on

I wouldn't say there's a cut off age as such but I think sex with your own generation, or at a push one removed is usual.

Mummyoflittledragon · 03/04/2020 06:29

His wife was a marketing director when she met him. Therefore not poor. Just average, I imagine. I absolutely disagree with him becoming a father at this age. However, his wife is of child bearing age and she clearly wanted a child. He is her choice of “life” partner. I don’t think she should be berated for her pregnancy because she has chosen to be with a man twice her age. I know this conflicts with my feelings toward his becoming a father again.

allallin · 03/04/2020 06:31

Was shocked to read he is 90, he is still quite sprightly.

Didn't he give the bulk of his fortune to his Monaco based ex wife and his two daughters when he was being chased by the HMRC for a huge tax liability.

I am sure he is still wealthy, but I don't think the recent wife married a billionaire, however I could be wrong.

TheCanyon · 03/04/2020 06:42

"I'm very happy and happy really for my wife. She's been looking forward to this happening for quite a few years, so I'm happy she'll have someone after I'm gone"

Quote from the daily mail. Really fucking bizarre frankly

LynetteScavo · 03/04/2020 07:11

Wow, I've never seen so much ageism in one place!

Obviously it's not ideal to have a baby at this age, but they are a married couple who can provide financially for a child and the mother is only 44.

Everyday on MN there are threads about people not being able to provide the basics for a child who hasn't seen their DF in years, and it's considered totally normal.

But then I think most posters are just grossed out by the thought of an elderly person having sex with his younger wife.
