Apologies for the link to the Sun but AIBU that this is just ridiculous? That poor child will probably statistically never know his dad.

Selfish parents, beyond belief.

Hope the baby arrives safely and healthy.

LuluJakey1 · 02/04/2020 23:03

Well, he wouldn't be for me but lots of children are born in much worse circumstances. It's a wanted baby, mum is youngish and healthy, parents seem happy together, financially very secure, dad who will love the child for however long he is part of its life, it will never want for anything financially as long as it lives.

Willyoujustbequiet · 02/04/2020 23:03

Its repulsive

lmcneil003 · 02/04/2020 23:04

What's the max age for people to be parents?

Don't say 'well, not 90'. Is it 60? 40?

IHaveBrilloHair · 02/04/2020 23:05

I mean it's hardly ideal but I raised my Dd alone and her father was 24 when he left us, with no money either.

Totallycluelessoverhere · 02/04/2020 23:07

Well I can think of children being born into far worse circumstances. And I can also think of parents who become parents when quite young f but knowing they won’t survive the child’s entire childhood due to their own health conditions.

StealthPolarBear · 02/04/2020 23:07

Is this even true

disorganisedsecretsquirrel · 02/04/2020 23:08

?
Yer what ?

spongedog · 02/04/2020 23:09

I dont care who he is - he has been lucky enough to have 2 families from previous relationships. What is the drive to have another child at his age. He will know that he will never see this child to adulthood. So selfish of both of them (parents)

BigChocFrenzy · 02/04/2020 23:10

If true, it is irresponsible imo to have a child at nearly 90,
knowing you are unlikely to be alive for long to parent

bitchonthepitch · 02/04/2020 23:10

I don't think old Bernie grasped the meaning of social distancing,

ArriettyJones · 02/04/2020 23:11

Never mind poor child, poor mother. Yuck!

She’ll be set for life.

Ginger1982 · 02/04/2020 23:12

Well yes clearly it would be worse if the child was being born into abject poverty or to an abusive situation but still...

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Is it the becoming a father again or having sex that is so disgusting to so many?

Lockheart · 02/04/2020 23:15

@spongedog his wife is 44 - if she wants a child then she would be well advised to not wait any longer. If I had to put money on it I would say the drive is from her rather than from him!

bevelino · 02/04/2020 23:16

Does anyone seriously believe he is the genetic father at 89?

Verily1 · 02/04/2020 23:16

Boak

Ginger1982 · 02/04/2020 23:17

He can have as much sex as he wants as far as I'm concerned, I just personally think that it is unfair on the child to deliberately be aiming to deprive him of a father most likely before he's 10.

Many men are fertile for a very long time. My dh was 64 when we had dd. 90 does seem rather excessive however!!

CoolCarrie · 02/04/2020 23:18

Well she will have two sets of bottoms to clean soon!

Wheresthebeach · 02/04/2020 23:18

Well the child will be beyond wealthy, and the mum may well remarry when the child is still quite young because Bernie is unlikely to be around for another decade. Children not knowing one parent isn’t that unusual, its really the age difference between the parents that’s the disturbing bit I think. My first reaction was...ewww.

GulliBelle · 02/04/2020 23:19

This somehow reminds me of doing The Merchant's Tale for a level English Literature

MagnoliatheMagnificent · 02/04/2020 23:19

Saying that, dd1's father was 21 and happily cleared off and has never even met her so...
