Apologies for the link to the Sun but AIBU that this is just ridiculous? That poor child will probably statistically never know his dad.

For everyone who thinks this is "ewww", "replusive", "boak" etc - all I can say is I hope your partners and spouses don't have the same attitude towards you once you're past your prime!

Paddington68 · 02/04/2020 23:20

Good luck to them.

TheBabyAteMyBrain · 02/04/2020 23:21

Many children don't know their fathers for one reason or the other. If the baby is wanted and cared for that's all that matters.

I just hope I'm up to that amount of sex when I'm his age!

CheriLittlebottom · 02/04/2020 23:22

Ewwwww.

lakeswimmer · 02/04/2020 23:23

For those saying it's selfish because he won't be part of the child's life for long - would you say that about a woman who becomes a mother knowing she's going to be a lone parent? Plenty of children are born into families with one parent and do fine. At least they won't have any money worries.

twinkledag · 02/04/2020 23:25

Gross!!

RishiSunakFanClub · 02/04/2020 23:25

Envy not envy.

Rosiemadras · 02/04/2020 23:30

Do you think they actually had sex? IVF with donor sperm more likely.

MashedSpud · 02/04/2020 23:31

Urgh.

Iris243 · 02/04/2020 23:32

I don’t think repulsive is the right word to use. We are still talking about a baby here. Would you want your father described as repulsive?

I agree many mothers have children to raise as a single parent.

Whilst it’s not an ideal situation I’m sure the child will be loved and cared for. Hopefully his other daughters are on board so there is an extended family unit when he is gone.

SylvanianFrenemies · 02/04/2020 23:33

I think the Eww is at a near 90 year old fucking and impregnating someone young enough (easily) to be his granddaughter. Not older people having sex per se. I mean, I hope I'm still at it at 90 with DH. But if he passed on I wouldn't be doing it with someone who's currently an ovum.

macaroniandpizza · 02/04/2020 23:35

Oh wow thats just wrong 🙈 hes almost 90 ffs he will be lucky to have any involvement at all in the babys life

Wheresthebeach · 02/04/2020 23:37

@sylanianFrenemies Grin

Willyoujustbequiet · 02/04/2020 23:40

Lockheart its repulsive due to the.44 year age gap and the fact that the child won't remember its father. So very selfish.

Totally different to an older couple maintaining a healthy sex lifem

rayoflightboy · 02/04/2020 23:40

And yes, there is a huge age difference. But his wife is 44, she's not some naive 23 year old. Maybe for her it's her last reasonable chance to have a baby, who knows.

He was 44 when she was born.He was basically her age when she was a baby.Thats just gross.

LuluJakey1 · 02/04/2020 23:41

The comments about deliberately depriving a child of it's father are astonishing for mumsnet.
a) He may be hoping to live to 110 like the man on tv yesterday - who looked really fit, well and was clearly mentally very sharp.
b) Many women on mumsnet have several babies where the fathers have no contact from birth and they struggle to find the financial resources to support the children. Yet they are supported and sympathised with by posters.
c) Lots of children grow up happily with a single parent or a parent and a step-parent, or within an extended family- all common and praised on mumsnet by posters.

I am not sure how this is any worse than these scenarios- in fact it is much better.

AMCoffeePMWine · 03/04/2020 00:02

I have no idea who this is but now I really fancy an ecclescake

SandyY2K · 03/04/2020 00:03

Madness. The child's dad is old enough to be his great great grandfather.

Just shows the power of money in getting a younger beautiful wife.

FunkyKingston · 03/04/2020 00:04

I wonder if they've got a lodger.

MaxNormal · 03/04/2020 00:08

Men's sperm quality deteriorates, it uses really unfair to father a child using 90 year old sperm. I hope they used a donor.

Guyonhere1 · 03/04/2020 00:14

Why judge him and his partner? Just be happy for them and wish them and their child all the best. Honestly, the reaction of most of you is utterly embarrassing

Amymayapple · 03/04/2020 00:27

I thought it was an April fools but it says April 2 on the article!

Is he the worlds oldest dad? It must be a record

Electrical · 03/04/2020 00:42

Sheer selfishness and entitlement on both parts, thousands of unwanted kids who already exist, yet rich old people rutting like wild animals to breed a poor kid to suffer on a dying planet, made from sperm beyond ancient, geriatric egg, and a father who felt entitled to fuck a woman who was an infant when he was middle aged. Just abhorrent on every possible level. Hope the cash helps the kid deal with elderly parents and being bereaved in youth.

Katie2017 · 03/04/2020 00:47

Can't believe how many people actually defend this, "oh could be worse", I thought it was bad when the bloke was 50+ but never expected some could still defend it when someone is 90! I had an older dad-obviously nowhere near this old, he managed to live long enough until I was an adult (just) but I missed out on so many years that my siblings had. This should be illegal.

GatoradeMeBitch · 03/04/2020 00:47

I don't feel sorry for the child. They will be super rich and privileged. Does that make up for the absence of a parent? Sometimes yes, absolutely!
